Poll: How do you control your FOV axis in BMS?
-
I don’t seem able to post an actual poll but post how you control you FOV axis (not the one called “zoom” but the one that actually zooms in a lot to see far off details) and I will keep a count updated in this post.
I ask because I’m using the slider axis on my throttle (TM Warthog) but watching vids on Youtube it looks like a lot of people have it set to their Track IR Z axis. So I’m wondering if there is a general consensus on what feels best.
So I guess the main options would be (with result so far in brackets):
1. Track IR (or other head-tracking software) Z axis (2)
2. Mousewheel (0)
3. HOTAS axis (4)
4. Keyboard buttons (0)
5. Other (?) (0) -
Mouse wheel on hotas.

#1 TrackIR
Use the Warthog slider for antenna elevation
-
Left thumb, TMWH, mic switch fore-aft bound to virtual axis.

a knob on my HOTAS which is hardcoded across all three modes to function the same in all three modes, it’s rotary 4 on the x-56. I have a large hand, so I can easily grip the throttle and reach the gnarls barkley of the knob with the tip of my thumb and turn it. I have it set on a hair trigger so the smallest of tickles and it jumps up. At home, the combinator screen with the blended edge is 100 inches with the offset set triangular at about 13’ degrees, giving me about 120 degrees of 2560x. Im taking that screen I built for xplane and siming and putting it into a new rig when I get home.
If trackir had macros, like a head flick up or a gesture, that would be a good idea for FOV zooming.

FaceTrackNoIR / DelanClip for me

Head track to lean in to instruments… mousewheel to zoom out the window

Track IR 5 with 6DOF … cant get better ;0)

Track IR 5 with 6DOF.
Track IR Z axis.

Track IR 5 with 6DOF.
Track IR Z axis.
FOV on mouse wheel.Same as Dee-Jay

TrackIR for zoom, but only a very tiny amount. I have multiple screens so I don’t have the need to zoom in on instruments or MFDs. For a zoomed-in HUD view (helps in making guns kills), I have a switch on the HOTAS for that.
-
TrackIR and pinky DMS UP for close up view.
