Here is a nice 3d printed HAL sensor
-
@Master:
Just received the Beta TQS sensor and its working perfectly! Now i have a full set! Thank you redneck, you revived my cougar!!!
Good to hear you’re cougar is a sharp tool again.
Meanwhile i am building up my inventory of sensors in my spare time. Once build i need to test them, so there is progress.
Will open a new thread soon where you can subscribe for the sensors you need.
-
I am also interested in TQS and stick hall sensors for Cougar!
How is the progress with the sensors going on, Redneck? -
Hi Redneck,
I am interested in buy 2 too, count on me. -
Hi Redneck, I’m a 0 knowledge guy when it comes to these mods, but cougar needs a new life. I saw a video on these new sensors (and Red Dog recommeded them). Is this something I can buy from you, or are there instructions somewhere on building them?

Hi guys!
If you are anything like us, your TM Cougar has been used for quite some time and provided us with many hours of pleasure (and abuse) flying our favorite sim.
But like us many of you will run into this problem (sooner or later);- Spiking potentiometers within the stick and throttle
- Build up of dust within the stick and throttle
- Failing parts of the HOTAS
- General wear and tear
Unfortunately Thrustmaster does not longer support the Cougar HOTAS with any form of replacement components.
We aim to maintain and even revive your TM Cougar HOTAS.
Maybe it is time for a midlife update just like the real jet…
Vipergear is glad to announce the official release of the Vipergear C-MUK (Cougar Midlife Upgrade Kit)!
The kit comes in three configurations;
- Stick upgrade
- Throttle upgrade
- Full kit upgrade
What does it do?
It replaces the Cougar potentiometers with custom designed Hall Sensors.
The C-MUK will provide you with a higher degree of accuracy in the inputs you get from your HOTAS system.
And, even more important, provide you with a kit that is not going to wear out because the hall sensor kit is a non-friction input method that will last for a lifetime!
So no need to worry about your cougar failing in the long run without replacement units to keep you flying. So if you are looking for a long term solution to keep your Cougar up and running, and even lift it to the next level of precision, take a look at our C-MUK kit.
We are willing to extend the introduction offer to all of you guys here at the BMS forum.
We only ask of you to become a follower of our facebook page in return for the discount.
If you decide to order a C-MUK (full or partial kit) add this code to your order and we will provide you with the extended discount offer

We will extend this offer until July 1st 2018 when you give us a like on facebook and provide the code above with your order.Kind regards,

Fantastic news, but I’m slightly salty as I don’t use FB & you’ve not put an order link either here or on your website, which I’ve just registered on. My money is waiting…

(Redneck and Blade)Official release ready! I’ve said this before here but i’ll repeat it: Thank you for this awesome mod! I’ve been using the sensors for 1 month now and my cougar is better than ever, especially if you are as lame as me in air refueling! I think all cougar owners should get a kit, either for replacement or as back up if their old pots fail like mine did.
-
I too am interested in buying 2 throttle sensors.
-
Any place to buy the pots and mini-sticks?
-
-
Here is a new installation guide http://vipergear.eu/?page_id=132
This might give you better info on how to replace the original pots.
-
Ok, Finally some real smarts, This is Ingenious!,. I’m all in … to get rid of the noisy pots, need 20% margins off center… will put em away for backup since they are not so worn, no spikes yet., heh, not too much of flight hours
Please, I need all 3 of them , X,Y, Slider, how much… sensors/magnets included or DIY ? … but definitely I need at least 3 printed cases.
Cheers

Just installed two of the C-Muk throttle kits. Working great!
They were very easy to install. No issues with calibration. One of the throttles had been modded with Cub Pilot’s Hall Effect Sensors but had stopped working a couple of months ago. The other was an unmodded throttle with very uneven axis response. -
I must say this is the best hall sensor upgrade out there, for price & ease of installation - I’ve fitted 1 in my throttle. It takes 10 minutes to fit and is completely reversible(but why would you want to go back to a crappy pot?) with no modification to the throttle required. If anyone’s on the fence about getting 1, come on over to our side, you won’t regret it.

The first batch is gone, second batch is ready to be shipped.
You can get them at, www.vipergear.eu -
My upgrade kit arrived recently - looking forward to installing it, I’m confident it will work well. I’m holding off for a while, though, to see how long my utterly crude fix to the throttle pot lasts.
My throttle pot (and the stiction in my TQS) isn’t nearly good enough for something like aerial refueling, I’m sure… but I’m not good enough, either! Nowhere near. So, I’m going to keep using my crudely repaired throttle pot for a while, just out of curiosity about its lifetime, while I s-l-o-w-l-y work through the basic training modules. Then I’ll work on the stiction some way or another, and then put in this sweet sweet Hall sensor from Redneck. Thanks heaps for making this!

Arrived (throttle) and easily mounted. Fully working.
Thanks mate! -
how much is the throttle only?
