The future of BMS
-
If the devs stopped today I would still have a wonderful sim to fly for years to come. Everything new we get is just bonus material IMO…but, they haven’t stopped and are working on a release of 4.34 in 3-4 weeks, so lets just see what they have in store for us, shall we?

Well, This post is kinda noob but, I want to share my opinion with all
So, We all know that Falcon 4 is 30 years old game that has faced many reworks mods(FF4, Allied force And BMS), But, The lack of tools for the engine will make it obsolete? Or it could be upgraded until it satisfies the the need of the consumer?, Of course i really want to see how BMS develop along the years and how it keep developing, So, My concern is the engine, Could tools be created to make it better or it’s better create a new engine(I know how hard can that be)? i’ll let you to answer me.
And well, The life of the project is an important fact, Because, BMS it what it is thanks to the dev and constant modding feedback, What BMS could be if there’s no entusiasm in BMS, It’ll be plain boring.
I really hope the modding community and the devs keep making the game better and better, But will be a point when upgrading the game makes no difference? i hope that point never arrives.
So, what’s your point of view about the future of BMS?
I’m curious about your POV, Let me know down there :p.The ETA to die for BMS is one day around the year 2132, confirmed. Before that iit is imposible, it will survive 2 nuclear wars and one zombie assault.
We only need to keep feeding the BMS code with some talented coders as the ones we have now, in fact there is a bankaccont when all falconers can deposit a small amount of money to improve the live and the heal of the current coders to make them happier and life longer. One thing that make the BMS coders live longer is do not get bad criticism opinions, I don´t know how to describe the BAD CRITICISM in English, sorry, try always to be positive is the idea.
Get a powerful and wonderful 3D engine will not make BMS funnier, only BMS will need a powerful PC to run BMS to see the same pixels from FL300

30 years? You mean 20.

Falcon 4 was released 20 years ago, not 30 (like Planehazza said) and BMS has been in active development for many years, and there is no end in sight. You say you know how hard it would be to create a new game engine, but I do not believe you really understand what that involves. For example, many currently popular PC games with high level graphics use game engines produced by third parties – ARK: Survival Evolved happens to use the Unreal 4 engine. A game company created a very high end game that pushes graphical limits of PC’s, but they didn’t spend any time creating their own game engine because that would have increased the work load, cost of production, and time to develop to a degree that would not be profitable or successful.
Consider the amount of work the Falcon DEV’s have put in over the years to bring this 1998 era PC game into the modern era. Look at the history of different Falcon mods, and the time table things were achieved on. Understand that creating a video game on a volunteer basis (unpaid coders) is a different thing than a for-profit company attempting to create a product for sale. A company would not have the latitude to take as long as they need to, would be subject to deadlines, and layoff’s after release, bringing the team down to a few people left to patch and fix what had already been created, setting aside future content and upgrades. BMS Devs have the opportunity to move forward as they are ready, not as a market or CEO dictates, which means that BMS will remain for many years to come.

I’m curious about your POV, Let me know down there :p.The future of bms? Lmfao. You think as time passes and with dcs actually making the f16 and other planes fully functional that people will stick to a 20 year old game? Not saying its bad , but at its corrent state and age and with dcs having 1000 times better graphics and overall gameplaying experience , I don’t know who will actually keep falcon bms. It just got old. Graphics suck for 2018 and everyone needs to move on.

Man, maybe you should start first. If you do not like it fine, but it is not too polite towards the devs, who provided this sim upgrade free of charge to you. This thread is going to nowhere and I suggest to close it.

@ Deathmaze
We will all die of old age before DCS comes up with a Viper that comes close to BMS. I’m betting 5 more years before the Hornet comes close to the fidelity of the Viper.
That said, if you like the pretty stuff better, then why are you here trying to figure out the sim? :tjacked:

I will still be here if it is still going - Falcon has never had the best Graphics so what. Allied Force had terrible graphics for 2005 and still went and paid money for it LOL.
Have seen years of graphics and lighting effect updates to many games and sims and there is one constant - that is you don’t even notice it after about 2 weeks of going ohh ahh. -

Did i say i dont like it? No. Infact i said the exact opposite LOL. I just stated some extra facts and i never wanted to sound like a hater you little kinky boy damn everyone hates hearing the truth lol

Someone else might do It faster and better than dcs….you dont know what devs decide “tomorrow” to “copy” dcs and make a whole new better game:D

We are talking about the FUTURE. Today Im here because as of 2018 theres nothing else detailed as much as falcon bms for the f16.

I think there’s a ton of potential left in BMS…and since the dev’s have access to the code…well …“anything is possible” as I have been told by Mav…
There’s a lot of that can be done with the current version for BMS…but it will take a lot of time.
Rewriting the code for DX11
New terrain engine
A modern multiplayer server system (no more P2P, port forwarding, etc)
etc…
I think you’ll have some people bail on BMS when DCS finally releases their Viper…but I don’t think it’s going to be a mass exodus simply because, and I say this as someone who really enjoys DCS and it’s online world….it’s a bit sterile.
-
Rypley well the dx9 change didn’t had the time to show it’s teeth yet.
The 3d objects majority is still very old.
Procedural have a new tone and as rumored will give us greater experience in the future.
When Mortesil will finish his tool things will get unleashed in falcon and the effort on many things seem to get easier for the community devs and BMS devs.
For the tools falcas and others maintain and update the 3 basic tools mc wdp and FE.
Sakis Monster is still around with his terrain editor.
Recently Khronik released a tool for the voices which is also at the Target to ease the creation process and make it easier for newbs and Dino’s.
What is missing is the database tool when the vanilla database is updated to provide an easy way for theater makers to update their theater.
But for now theater makers take the pain.
FE needs some work also but it manages.Στάλθηκε από το MI 5 μου χρησιμοποιώντας Tapatalk
