The Doctor said to me earlier this week to not expect any more then 3-4 years, which gets me to 64. I said to Him “I want a second opinion” He said “Your screwed”
So I,m not holding my breath.Doesn’t fit exactly, but close enough……

DX 11 is great and all, but I defintely would not be able to run BMS anymore. CP not being able to run DCS is a large factor for me atleast. Anyone else like this?
The fact that you can’t run dcs is unrelated to DX11
Falcon is DX11 will run maybe faster if done properly , after it all depends on features used

General rule - The more RAM you have, the better your system will react.
I’d say that if you have now 8, stay with it until upgrade or until BMS won’t run for you anymore. When you are upgrading, make sure to get at least 16GB.

I agree that 16GB is the new minimum, 32GB is better for cough other newer flight sims.

Agreed on every point here.
RAM prices are (finally) coming down. If you think you need more RAM, it is a good time to upgrade.
If you currently have 8GB (2x 4GB sticks), you can upgrade to 16GB (add two more 4GB sticks) for about $45 right now.

Yes you are right. It’s slow and bad. Not even texture atlas is the problem, even DX9 supports IIRC 16 texture slots, but those aren’t used. Every texture is a draw call in Falcon world, crazy indeed. I was surprised as well.
So the terrain is arranged in tiles(array) and every element gets a draw call?

Every texture, not every tile.

Yes for every texture indeed.
But anyway, this isn’t relevant anymore and won’t be changed.
Modern terrain should render much higher resolution mesh with just a few draw calls… the problem with current BMS terrain isn’t only the number of draw calls.
