4.35 BMS Document release
-
Hello gents,
The 4.35 manuals are available in your Doc folder and have all been updated for 4.35.
There is currently no option to print the manuals from Lulu.
Document Modus Operandi
The size of the BMS document suite is close to 1800 pages of documentation. We understand that it is daunting but reflect the steep learning curve of our study sim.
To help you navigate the document suite, we published a modus operandi illustrating how we think the documents should be used:
(it is also available as a readme first in your Doc folder)How to use the BMS manual suite
Documenting a study-sim like Falcon 4.0 BMS cannot be done in 50 pages.
We understand that the volume of information presented to you might be overwhelming at first and lead to questions like: where to start, which manual documents what?To try to guide you, here is a quick explanation of what each manual attempts to cover, followed by a proposed flow.
All documents are in the \Docs folder of your Falcon BMS 4.35 install. Or just click on ‘Documentation and Manuals’ on the Launcher.1. Document list & purpose
–------------------------
• TO-BMS1F-16CM-1 (aka Dash-1). Purpose: How to fly the airplane. Aircraft systems, Normal procedures, Abnormal procedures.

• BMS TIR install guide and BMS VAC install guide to help you setup Track-IR and Voice Activated Commands for use with BMS.
• BMS Key File Editor Manual: A complete document on how to use the Keyfile Editor spreadsheet to create or edit custom key files.2. The flow
Learning to fly a study sim is a steep curve but rewarding curve.
The flow will be different depending on what you want from the sim and therefore there is no one solution fits all.
Nevertheless here is a recommended flow for new users willing to invest time in the sim:“Learn to walk before you attempt to run”
SETUP:
To install and setup BMS, refer to the BMS-Manual.
If you are new to BMS and setting up your HOTAS please refer to the first chapter of the technical manual.
If you are a veteran, setup your HOTAS with the HOTAS device guide.
No need to read those manuals completely. Just read the relevant chapters for your immediate task.FLYING:
Read the Dash-1 completely. You will not remember everything but it will help you later when you want to come back to specific aspects.
The first chapters of the Comms and Nav Book should be next as these will teach you how to interact with the BMS ATC around airbases.
To overcome the need to fly as soon as possible, use the BMS-Training manual and fly the BMS training missions.
When you need more information about the avionics and weapon systems, refer to the Dash-34.
If you start to create TEs or fly campaigns, or if you want to get setup for multiplayer refer to the BMS-Manual again.
As you want to start using charts in Korea, refer to the second part of the Comms and Nav book which will teach you how to fly in the weather and navigate in the Falcon world.Go between manuals as needed to learn about specific aspects and the minute details implemented in BMS. You can’t digest all the information in one quick read.
Have fun and remember, the answers are in there… RTFM!
The Doc team.

8. NEW DOC folder structure
To be updated.

Thank you Red Dog and BMS Doc Team for tremendous effort for making all of manuals above.
I, as a 3rd party developer, particularly appreciate for newly added Technical Manual which includes a bunch of useful informations for both end-user and developer. However, I would like to see some missing, additional development note for cockpit development. I’ve mentioned it in here before.
-
No Reply = No intention to support 3rd party model maker?
BTW, I have to mention that the LOD export plugin for 3ds Max is out of date. The latest version of plugin is for 2013. Thus, it prevents talented people a.k.a new comers to try something on it.I know you guys are working for free. I would appreciate even if the comment is like “We have no time for doing that”. It will totally works for me.

Easy there
24h is a bit fast to “demand” a response
1. In case you haven’t noticed we’re pretty busy managing the forum with the fresh release
2. it’s also Easter week end here - I understand that from Japan it’s a bit obscure to you, but ppl in the world have priorities with their family as well
3. You may also understand that we have no idea what you are talking about and may need a bit of time to digest information that is fresh in your mind, but not ours
4. It sounds like you are demanding, that’s probably not the right way to approach us - and being impatient and careless of our priorities is not either…
5. It’s not like the next version of the manuals are going to be released tomorrow so where is the urgency answering you?Be a bit less impatient if you can

I’m sorry if you feel I’m demanding for you or BMS team. I just re-stated that situation we, 3rd party 3d makers having after the major update has been released.
I remember that someone on official side mentioned Falcon BMS is community mod. It’s great you guys give us the chance to mod the mod in various ways. I appreciate for that. And if you have time, please read my post again. I’m not “demanding” you at all.
I’m just a 3rd party developer as I said. So it’s all up to you, always. -
Thank you Red Dog and BMS Doc Team. Great job :clap2:

Hi PeCa Chuck!
No Reply = No intention to support 3rd party model maker?
In fact it is rather:
No Reply = We had no time for it over other work in progress or more simply, we are not at home and didn’t had any ways/opportunities to check the forum and read all the new 150 posts since our last connexion even if/when we are doing our best to support.

first posts edited
added links to the cover artwork in case you want to add a nice cover to your own printing job -

Okay, got it. Thanks, Dee-Jay.
I’ll wait for further update in the future if it will come. -
Fabulous documentation from the team.
I would have liked to see it available in epub or mobi formats for phones and tablets too…. just a little wish.
My own attempts to convert the PDF’s do work, but they are nowhere near as good as the originals. The intial list of contents gets mangled but most of the text and images are clear.

I’ll wait for further update in the future if it will come.… yeah … but I doubt that manual will cover Dev notes on how to create cockpit. This is something the Doc team do not really master AFAIK. We can’t provide global the stuff otherwise we won’t be able to live anymore.
