Link 16 things you want in the next update
-
Yes,I already know also TurAF works with a group of companies affiliated with the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation for improve vipers avionics skill but I don’t think this symbology system related source codes or groups. In my opinion this system is in the basic structure.
Raptor what do you think about integration into the simulator ? This is the main subject we should be interested in.
-
Those symbologies AFAIK are used to indicate a Link 16 Primary Datalink Track (PDLT) within the HUD (or HMCS) if the PDLT is within the HUD FOV. I would say nothing special of the Turkish Air Forces.
-
Actually that’s not PDLT but Team member HUD symbology…
-
PDLT is an octagon as I recall.
-
Right!

Last time I requested an IFF and now we have an IFF lol
I can try to request a Link-16 and wait to see what happens in 2-3 weeks, no prob! lol
Aside joking, most necessary data are out there (in M3 docs), which although not up to date with latest gizmos will do fine for a pc combat simulation. It is a pretty inderesting task-implementation code-wise, not easy, will need quite some (free) time from the dedicated devs, but totally doable for far future task. Be aware that it will take too much reading and adoption for the average user to learn, both educationally, practically and use it tactically. It is not just 3-4 new pretty symbols for eye-candy, it will bring new possiblilities that will turn the Viper more like a playstation machine… And ofcourse will bomb with forum with dozens of new posts about what-and-how.
So dream mode / on.
-
Theres more complete data than the M3 docs available. The full suite of J series messages can be found with a quick google search, of course. Totally agree, dream mode engaged, pie in the sky hopes…
It worked last time!
I think its an interesting problem, because making it work and making it work well would be two different things. Id long considered it would go well with an overhaul to AWACS. If you could have an AWACS workstation setup to allow human AWACS with raw radar data and a terminal to control link 16, you could have a human operator sending datalink missions to human F-16s - and potentially with some changes to the AI, you could do the same thing to direct the AI aircraft also. The operator could then monitor one net with AWACS data, another potentially with JSTARS data, and then select relevant tracks to include on the fighter net.
Pilot then sees relevant surveillance tracks, receives datalink missions (HEADBUTT the PDLT), has a general SA enhancement, and still engaging gameplay - with the possibility of simulating air battle management as well.
Of course, its relatively easy to talk about it. This would be such a big undertaking to code. Lots of places changes would need to happen - not terribly easy with a modern codebase and good design. Far harder dealing with Falcon legacy code, I would imagine…
But we can dream.
-
@Raptor you are not the only one that asked IFF …:p
The same request was years before …the LINK16 are in a good way …we will see if happened in 3-4 weeks…
and i do not agree in “Viper more like a playstation machine.” the good pilot knows to fly with or without LINK16 BUT it is good in modern military simulation to have LINK16 since open’s new era in Simulation and new realistic air combat procedures. you know that better.

Before adding Link-16 I hope we can get a more challenging enemy. Particular the Sam operators should be be able to share data between themselves. Sharing search radar data so that enemy SAMS has been used by SAM operators forever and we need these kind of tactics to make the theaters require more teamwork and better planning. At the moment you can kick anyones ass with just a lil recon and average flight planning.
Also if you run out of planes in your squadron should be an automatic campaign loss

the external sounds, and no rotating clouds
-
whats wrong with the fuel feed?
-
fix the fuel feed knob, the external sounds, and no rotating clouds
You forgot to say the magic word
-
…we often have rotating clouds in the high Mojave. It’s an indicator of mountain wave…which is great for soaring as long as you stay on the up-draft side.
-
-
Sure. Dear Alfred, try to guess now what is it
please make it like DCS , and thank you in advance.
-
Sorry, but you are not very nice Alfred.

Ohh boy not the best word choice around here mate
If it is like DCS then its DCS.
Not really a good argument this one.
Cheers

Just get airborne in sunny weather, you won’t notice any rotation in clouds :D:nosep:
Sorry, just messing with ya

Now that SAM systems are a lot less predictable, the ability to order AI wingmen fire their HARMs at steerpoints instead of emitting SAM radars only may be a fine addition.
PS: Weaseling is a lot more fun now. Thank you. -
I can’t help but think about how beautiful and kino videos there could be on Youtube if you could capture gameplay quality footage (and sound) of your mission after flying it. Maybe some kind of an implementation where it would be recreated with ACMI data.
Like so:
