Now that i know BMS lemme point some obvious stuff:
The RWR should show the sam site way before they had a lock on them
Since when fuel store are GBU’s?
I could swear i heard a damn boeing civie Pull up warning (idk if its the same for the mil aircraft)
The should a used more flares imo

Why the first sam that just flown by the wing didn’t explode like the latter?

A/G radar is anyway so overrated…
In my experience flying RL fighter aircraft, we almost never used it, except for automatic ground following phases.

It depends on your aircraft and your tactics. Air ground radar is extremely noisy, if you switch it on, the rest of the world will now it.
In my country, we almost don’t use radar except for ground following tactics, INS updates and in some ways to perform radar piercing navigation/approaches and attacks.
But most of the time, A/G radar is off. TGP is then most used especially in desert and good weather areas, because it is fully passive and can’t easily be jammed : your WSO will always take car of analyzing the situation.
If you have to perform war actions in colder and wetter areas were high intensity conflicts would occur, you would necessary have perform low altitude operations only, with automatic ground following tactics. Because you would fly very low, A/G radar would be most irrelevant.
You wouldn’t then be able to perform your attacks based on your radar, but more with an INS/GNSS guidance, at least, in my country.

In my opinion, the limitations of this sim, makes finding small targets as ground units imposible at naked eye, so unless you know exactly where they are, AG radar is my only option, previously to confirm with TGP,

It is hard as well in real life to spot anything on the ground. This is why they use JTACS and other means to know where to look. It takes practice over and over.

That said, in the sim it is harder, due to a smaller sight picture than IRL. Unless you’re flying in VR or have one of those fancy multi-screen setups allowing you to have a “real scale” representation of the HUD and the things behind it, everything looks smaller than it would if you were sitting in a real jet. I play on a regular full HD screen, and visual detection is almost useless except for things like bridges and runways. Even if I know where something is, I just don’t see it, at least without zooming in or switching to HUD-only mode. Even for visual methods like rockets or guns, I typically use the TGP to place the steerpoint diamond over the target, and fire at that.
In fact, this is the major reason to want VR. It allows you to see the surroundings like a real pilot would, including the HUD and the targets being the proper size.

I fly a trainer on occasion that is set up in a square room…the main OTW is a set of three TV panels, bu the operators have also set up a couch where they can watch the OTW projected on the walls…if tou switch from watching the TV panels to watching the walls, a wingman will appear very near life size in the projected OTW on the walls…and that is REALLY cool.
…but even that doesn’t change anything about seeing things on the deck.

Best AG radar (SAR approx. ) was in Janes F-15E - GM mode…can’ recall what was the name of DBS2 mode - (it wasn’t DBS , something similar)
Even then when ‘we’ played (1999) , on 15"/17"/19" - (4:3) monitors …it was kinda easy to, even identify the target building between ‘bunch’ (not quite bunch ) of them…
Buildings and objects even had radar ‘shadows’ because of 3d (z axis, height) .
So, in ‘DBS2’ radar picture had almost details … as one would expect from SAR GM., … you could spot and identify scud launchers ‘just like that’ … well if not TOO , … or if they weren’t behind the hills (dunes).
If we would have radar image of that resolution in BMS … it would certainly be a ‘game-changer’… but… TGP is a way to go anyway.

The way DBS works, it’s intended to improve resolution above what the sensor is capable of using some neat maths. Only works at certain angles, stuff directly in front gets no improvement but things somewhat to either side of your flight path get improved resolution. Another use of the Doppler effect. Very cool stuff, would be awesome to see IN BMS. Then again it’s old technology.
