Air Mobile working well in 4.34

Cantoo has been managing Campaigns for many years so you will get some good info from Him.
Good to see you posting friend.
True story . . . I’ve learned more about Falcon just flying missions with Cantoo than I did spending hours in the manuals. He really knows his way around the sim

Just to revive a great thread - Cantoo, has any work been done on the chopper video or did I just miss the thread?
No, I never posted more even though I said I would, as I could not produce a consistent result that could be reproduced every time with the choppers. Code would break most of the time on being able to move ground units once they were in new location. It did work as planned only about 10% of time, Sometimes troops would not move at all, other times they would not accept new orders and go off with a mind of their own even with new orders given them to stay in place or move to a nearby location. Tested near FLOT, away from FLOT at a safe distance, direct pick up from a present location not on an airbase, and ordering units to move to an airbase first, to be picked up in the manner I describe for fixed wing aircraft. You can still air mobile them every time, just don’t expect to be able to move them once the unit is air dropped.

Sorry for the delay in getting the video posted. I got on it ASAP. I had to practice creating more flights so I could do it in a more methodical manner, as the first few times I tried it was more a hit or miss method, as I know of no documentation that tells one how to do this. I won’t say just how much time it took the 1st time I tried and how much more time it took to duplicate what I did, but for me it was well worth the effort. It sure was nice to have Patriot coverage over the entire FLOT in my campaign:D
As far as working in a TE I assume it should work the same as Campaign, but I have not tested it yet. I also have not yet tested transport choppers that should have the ability to pick up battalions not located directly at an airbase. I have only used this with fixed wing aircraft on battalions already settled in position at an airbase. I will test with the choppers eventually and report back.
The video is quite long, 33 minutes, but a lot has to be covered and many details are required to set things up properly. Once I got it to a step by step process I can now create an air mobile package in about 7 minutes or less. Without a script to read from I did make a few errors in the video, but catch myself and correct myself. I hope you enjoy this tutorial and get some benefit if you are dedicated enough to watch the entire video.
Now one might ask why I didn’t do this with mission commander, but hey flying Falcon is a challenge is it not?
EDIT, I have noticed the video playback is much better resolution when the youtube quality setting is taken off “Auto” setting and playback set to dedicated 720p.
Nicely done sir, would like to see a campaign management vid for noobs like myself that want to take the next step in commanding an entire war.

Great video, thanks!
Without seeing this thread I would have assumed the only solution would have been to have the battalion march all the way.
One question from the video, though. I noticed when you paused after the air-drop was complete that the 2-ship C-17 flight had the 2nd pilot listed as “Unassigned”. This got me wondering if the flight might have actually been a 1-ship, even though you fragged a 2-ship, because perhaps a 1-ship was all that was needed for the job? I might be expecting too much of the AI here, but I wonder what your thoughts are?

Thanks for trying! I can’t thank you enough for giving it a shot and for sharing your (substantial!) knowledge and experience here!

I think the campaign engine was saving me a seat, since I went to all the trouble to learn how to figure out how to do this.:ranger:
I’m sure it went as the two ship, as I believe I have seen in the past a “No Pilots Available” message before if the roster did not contain enough remaining pilots to fill the slots, if I recall correctly. This would be a rare occurrence and I don’t remember which version of Falcon I saw that message in. I will however go bring up the mission from my saved files just to confirm. I felt a 1-ship would not be big enough to move an entire battalion, for all I know 2 may not have been enough. Maybe some one with that knowledge will let us know.

Hi
For what its worth, back in the day (70s and 80s) A UK Parachute Battalion Battle Group, including Armoured Recce, Artillery and other attached arms, could utilise up to 26 C130s to insert a Parachute force and associated vehicle elements onto a DZ in one lift.

You may have opened a can of worms here …
Now I am going through my campaign and taking full control. I was trying to frag a mission for some SuperCobra choppers, but got the message that there is not any AG stores to enable the flight.
So, I figure that I will need to task something like a C-130, or maybe even a Chinook given that the SuperCobras are operating from a very small runway.
I have looked at a C-130 squadron and there is already an Airlift flight planned to a different airbase. The flight plan just goes from the C-130’s home base to the destination and back, so presumably there are stores at the home base?
The briefing says “Badly needed supplies are awaiting transport in Hawaii and Japan. We need to fly these supplies to Kangnung Airbase where they’ll get distributed to friendly forces”
There is no waypoints in Japan, and certainly not in Hawaii.
This all makes me think that I just schedule an Airlift flight to the SuperCobra airbase and “magic” happens?

Do resupply flights work the same way to resupply airbases and air defense units like airlift missions do??

Campaign engine is base on KTO, IAW f4 RP5 manual :
Airlift missions are generated in Falcon4 to provide supplies needed to fuel the war effort. Each successful airlift mission gives the team a total of 20 supply points,2 fuel points, and 2 replacement points. No matter from which AB. So called “We need to fly these supplies to Kangnung Airbase where they’ll get distributed to friendly forces” is just a kind of rhetoric.

Hi JOKER_duke, and thanks for your reply.
I didn’t understand all of what you wrote (IAW f4 RP5 manual ?) but, it sounds like, bottom line, I just fly an Airlift mission to the airbase I need resupplied, and they will just automatically get (at least some of) what they need?

if you fly an Airlift mission to the airbase successfully, your team will get supply points. But it will not immediately take effect, it needs time.
Yeah there is a manual called “Realism Patch V5.0”

Cantoo - just found this on the new forum (thanks to Oakdesign), any new developments/procedural changes for 4.35.3?
-
I have moved two Patriot batallions to airstrips near the frontline using airmobile. Now, both batallions are running out of supplies (from constantly shooting I guess) after just a few hours and I want to send them some replacement missiles.
What exactly do I have to do for this? I already tried airlift (to the respective airstrips) and it didn’t change anything.
For some reason, the SAM batallions have moved slightly from the airstrips they landed at, is that the problem?

I last used this Air Mobile in 4.35.2, have not tried it with U3 yet, I assume it still works the same with U3.

I do not think you can resupply a specific AD battalion by assigning it an Airlift package. You’ll need to use Mission Commander for that. If you are wanting to keep the realism up you could do the resupply with Mission Commander just after the Airlift flight gets to it’s destination or if you gave a Supply battalion orders to travel to the AD battalion and it reached it’s destination. This will keep it real if you don’t like the idea of just making things magically appear using Mission Commander.
As far as them moving just make sure you changed the orders for them to remain at the intended destination and that they are not moving back to their pick up point.

Gents, I need a hint please.
I too have the problem: I “airmobiled” a couple of patriot air defense battalions to the FLOT, and they keep running out of supply.
With Mission Commander, I found the possibility to pick the battalion and to change the “supply number” all the way up to 100.
Back in the sim, at first it seems to work. Full supply.
But only minutes later - after the very first contact with enemy aircraft - boom, they are on bottom level again. How can I make the resupply state last longer?
In MC, I opened the CAM file and overwrote it.
Can someone show me a way how to make it right?
