4.34.1 Super Hornet Bug Report
-
Good Day, Mav, and thanks for replying. I just changed the f18 e and f acdata COMMPRESSIONperc to 0.1 as you suggested, and tried a launch. It’s still not connecting to the Cat.
I notice in your video that the LB switch moves when you click it. Mine doesn’t. There is a hotspot on the switch, and I do hear a click when I right click to extend. But, the switch doesn’t move, nor does the LB visibly extend. My E and F acdata LB entries are the same as the f18c acdata, and everything does work properly in the Legacy.
As for the kneeling effect, I know it’s not RL. I’m just describing what was happening in 4.34.0. The jet “knelt on the nosewheel” upon LB extension. And, it would connect to the Cat.
Btw, I have had the issue where the Rhinos’ Take off trim was “overtrimming”. The jet strongly pitched up upon takeoff. I noticed your’s doesn’t do that.Have you tried both right and left click on the hotspot ?
You must have your launch bar switch on extend else you won’t connect to catapult (IIRC external model does not have launch bar DOF though)

Yes, Mav. I have tried left and right clicking with the mouse, and the switch I have set on my Warthog(which works on the Legacy). The switch stays in the retracted position, no matter what… Also I am aware of SOP to extend it to connect to the Cat and retract it once hooked up, for proper gear retraction. I do the same in the Rhino what works in the Legacy . And, finally, you’re right about the external model. The lack of visualization of LB operation has been around , it’s a known issue.
UPDATE: The noticed in another thread you gave the Op Catapult and LB data, Namely # Catapult
#–---------------------------------------------------
CATAPULTDist 150.0
COMPRESSIONPerc 0.1
CarrierLatFrictionFactor 3.0
CatGearStiffDecomp 3.0
CatXOffset 20.0 #Added Falcas 11/12/2014
#-----------------------------------------------------Launchbar
#-----------------------------------------------------
hasLaunchBar 1
LaunchBarMinAngle 0.0
LaunchBarMaxAngle 80.0

I just reconfirmed that these values are correctly entered in my F18 C, E, and F acdatas -

I just reconfirmed that these values are correctly entered in my F18 C, E, and F acdatasyou have a stock install ? no superhornet mod cockpit ?
i dont know what to tell you, it’s moving fine in my stock install

In my installation it works well with the parameters of Mav-jp :headb:

Thanks, for the responses, Guys. Mav, yep, it’s stock install. In fact, my Legacy is the modded one and it works. Am I correct in assuming you have 4.34.1?
I’d really have hate to do the uninstall/reinstall to try to get the Rhino’s off the deck  -
I just tested something, and solved the problem. I just remembered that there ia an acdata file for each theater .You can’t just go to 4.34/data/ sim/acdata. You have to go to 4.34/data/Add On Balkans(for example)/sim/acdata
And enter
#–---------------------------------------------------Catapult
#-----------------------------------------------------
CATAPULTDist 150.0
COMPRESSIONPerc 0.1
CarrierLatFrictionFactor 3.0
CatGearStiffDecomp 3.0
CatXOffset 20.0 #Added Falcas 11/12/2014

My Balkans had acdata value for the Cat (although not the recommended COMPRESSIONPerc value of 0.1) and no Launch Bar Values at all.
When I pasted the above in place the Bar switch now moves in cockpit. And although the Bar doesn’t visually move, and on my install the jet again does the strange kneeling on the nosewheel, the Rhino does now connect to the Cat.
So, I would say you’re good to go with whatever theater you want, as long as you correct the acdata for that theater and for each of the Rhinos and the Growler, what ever you want to fly.
So, let me amend my Bug Report- SMS page still displays incorrectly
- Formation lights still don’t work (as before)
- Take off trim is “over trimmed” . If you “hold” the TO trim for the recommended 2 seconds, the jet pitches up violently upon leaving the ramp. It’s almost like the jet spawns with TO trim already set, and when you then add TO trim you’re “double trimming”.

REQUESTED UPDATE: As you can see below, the LB issue has been figured out. So, the Rhino bug report becomes…
SMS page still not displaying properly
Formation lights don’t work (continuing from 34.0)
Take out trim seems “overtrimmed”, almost as if the jet spawns already in TO trim. If you then do the normal TO trim procedure, the jet pitches up strongly upon take off.Update: Formation Lights- Solved, I think. The f18e acdata had a “formation light level” value of 0. THe f18c has 10. So, changed f18e acdata to 10. I just tested it on deck during daylight, so was hard to see on external view. However, before when you clicked on the knob it would disappear, now it behaves normally.

no, just replacing value to 10 , it wont fix formation lights … need edit model texture positions for formation lights .> lodedit … dont want to play with it at all because RADIUM works on new model … 4-7 weeks, but nearly finished … so…
For cockpit dials . use old cockpit from 4.33 … works just fine … just, you’ll change your master lod … (AND it will affect F18 family > C/D/E/F/G - (EA-18G)

Boards aren’t working on the Superhornet atm.

It should be noted that a Super Hornet does not have a speed brake between the tails like the Legacy one does - it has a “speed brake function”…which a lot of the jocks refer to as the “funky chicken”.
I can only describe it as the Spoilers coming up and all of the surfaces going opposite directions to each other…ailerons up/flaps down/elevators down/rudders out…as far as I can remember it - you’ll have to consult some pictures. It also has a few other tricks that make it’s FCS different from the Legacy…and totally different from the F-16.
