BMS F18 A and C upgrade - community involvement
-
Has the autonomous ARF been implemented yet? I read an article in Aviation Week several years ago about it and it seemed to work well. The intent was to have it installed on F-18s as a backup in case of pilot fatigue or just a run of bad luck preventing a good manual snag of the basket. Just curious.

Basket AAR is not implemented in BMS.
-
No. According to the article it should be by this summer, after that, I suppose it will need official approval if everything works out. Then they will need time to upgrade airplanes and train pilots.

Bonjour Dee-Jay!
we’re talking about real life and not BMS (or at least it’s the way I interpreted Smokin holes’ post)
Cheers,

Correct.

DeeJay - you say it’s not implemented - of course, that’s true.
Again, I am not a programmer, but here a basic idea:
Couldn’t it be “simulated” purely graphical-wise by changing the boom to a basket? Of course, the a/c model would have to be modeled that way to have all the prerequisites to capture that basket.
I know, I know a boom is more or less static, but not completely. It can move up/down/left/right. This could be enough for initial basket movement.
I hope I did express myself somewhat clearly. Anyway, now waiting for guys telling me that this is not possible because … and because…
Maybe however, there is a slight chance that my idea could be realized…justthinkin’

I know that, but why not have a try?
Hi
Well I found the video below as an example.
Just a matter of time before Devs figure it out and implement it in F4 because it is necessary for the Mirages and F-18 upgrades etc
So patience it will be implemented, its pretty much a given, plus carrier ops etc etc all these things in good time.
I prefer Basket method personally!
Example Refueling Su-33 from Lock On FC ……Watch >
Just to point out it can be done, if it needed to be pointed out!

since the latest discussion has been about tanking…

I really really appreciate you work guys! Its amazing, but why the hell you dont let us test the raw f18 you have shown in your videos? all i see is just pictures/videos and if this project dies for whatever reason no one can ever fly this piece of beauty I know i know it sounds like: Dear santa , …. but please please give us atleast the chance to try it out …
-
What are you talking about ?
They will release it when they think its ready.
Just have some patience -
MrR0ket0, we all can’t wait to try the F18, but trust me, for several reasons it is way better to let them finish it then release it. I learned that from here.

This project is far from dead.
There is no way we would ever do a mass beta test; that would be a nightmare!
-
alright, thanks for the quick response!
-
I was wondering if there are any plans to upgrade the A-10 aswell?
You cant say the avionics data isnt available -

Bonedust, a while back you were reporting that the model had been changed and that the skin group needed to redo their skins. Do you have any pics of the new model and its changes for the previous pics that were posted?

None that I want to share right now
