Unexpectedly exploded on touchdown

if the runway is damage or destroy the tower theoricaly should not give landing clearance, or if you are landing without radio calls, you may asume that the runway is ok and then crash
try this, plan your mission, and stay on the mission planer map and forward the time until to final approach, select the airfield and look for the option recon and see if the runway was damage on that time, the visual damage it is not permanent so any damage will go unnotice, also try to land on a diferent airfileld and see if happens again. The tower gave me clearance so I guess that means the runway wasn’t damaged. My previous two landings went fine so this was totally unexpected. I’ll try some landing TEs to see if this was because I damaged the jet. I think I touched down just slightly hard.

something similar happent to me on 4.32 in israel theater, but after loading the theater, it crash on runway i fixed reducing the size in pixels of the texures and removin the alpha channel in most of the textures, because the heavy load procces of the terrain, but if that were the case it should happen after loading the mission not on landing.
-
…Then on the third one…
1. Did you restart BMS in between each mission? Running consecutive missions without restarting BMS can lead to unwanted and unexpected behavior.
2. Was this a different airport or the same one you were using on previous mission? Some airports in some theaters have elevation issues on the runway/taxiways that can cause this.
3. Sometimes it is helpful to know specifics, like which theater, which airport, etc.
4. If it cannot be duplicated, then it was probably a glitch.
5. A hard landing may blow a tire or collapse the gear instaead of destruction of the airframe, but depends on what you mean by “hard”.
Good luck!

bad tile on the runway, happened on one of the Italian runways also, Brindisi Casale if I remember correctly, close to one of the turn offs.

Need more info.

Happend to me one time, landed fine and after 1-2sec . . . BOOMMMM there was a vehicle on the runway acording to the debriefing. Did not see the vehicle while i was landing . . . should have payed more attention to this.
-
well thats an inconvenient, few day ago in a test mission i had to abort on the last part of the approach because a battalion was crosing over the runway.

One of the consequences of using an outdated version. This doesn’t happen anymore

I am not sure what it was, but it was a one off. I tried the same TE twice more and landings were successful on the same runway.

I was just wondering if this happens frequently. I am using BMS 4.34 and I flew a couple of missions where everything went smoothly. Then on the third one, I landed seemingly fine and then about two seconds after touchdown my jet suddenly exploded as if I hit a wall. Was this a product of touching down too hard? Did that happen to anyone else?
I have had two different examples of blowing up on runways/taxiways.
1: I had used Mission Commander to change a damaged airbase’s runways to “Set Repaired”. When I got into the cockpit for a new mission I could visually see craters on the runway, but AI aircraft were taking off without problem so I continued. BOOM! I later used Mission Commander to change the runway status to “Set No Damage” but the same behaviour persisted. (I realise I am not an expert with Mission Commander and probably missed something important, but I am just pointing out it happened).
2: I was taxiing for takeoff and there was a Hawk SAM launcher on the taxiway. I taxied around the launcher making sure I was not going to hit it, but I still went BOOM! It turns out that the “hit box” (?) of the Hawk launcher is much larger than its apparent appearance. I have since taxied around the launcher many times successfully by giving it a very wide berth.
So, maybe there was a vehicle near the runway and you just didn’t spot it, or consider it a danger?

Which SAM launcher? What Unit?

Which SAM launcher? What Unit?
Tiger Spirit Campaign.
Hwangju Airbase (relocated 80th Fighter Squadron there)
14th MIM23 Hawk Air Defense Battalion (4228)
Air Defense assigned: Hwangju Airbase -
… need the campaign files.
For info. I’ve checked the HAWK Launchers hitboxes, they are perfectly fine (12.5ft long / 6ft large / 7ft height)

The crater is a persistant object that has to be removed separately in Mission Commander (same name tab).

Wait … the Campaign files has been edited !!!
… if yes … do it at your own risk.

I am aware that using Mission Commander to move a FS to a different airbase probably introduces some unpredictability. I didn’t log a bug report because of this.
Still, I posted this story to help the OP understand possible causes.

I thought I should test taxiing around the Hawk again as I definitely blew up once, or twice, before.
I did not expect this result …

Is landing on crater fixed on 4.34?
On 4.33 hitting crater just ended mission without any death or plane loss or any other input about crash. -
correct me if i wrong, on a normal mission if the runway was damage, depending on the ammunition there should be a cater, that should be removed after a couple of hours because the progres of the mission and eventualy the runway should be repair, it could mean that even it you set the health in 100 and dont remove the cater of the active objects on the list in missin commander, it dosent mean you eventualy will crash?

Maybe bad HMVV hitbox. Or … (and this is what I think about), corrupted campaign file.
