Jamming NG for SA10?
-
4.35 TS Campaign (online). Added an ECM F18 1-ship in to lead my OCA package, set to enroute jamming (from about 80 miles out) and then a 30 minute Jamming time near the known SA10 site. He got about 50 miles out and the 1st SA10 missile took him out… at which point we had about 10 coming at us. ECM aircraft don’t work against SA10s? Before this we tried just launching our AGM-88’s at it at max range, didn’t seem to bother it one bit… and we died.

Jamming works against SA-10 your sure you have set the flight plan correct for the EA F-18
Still valid for 4.35

Oak - I’ll look at Lorik’s video again, assumed (likely incorrectly) that using mission planner was not required for this in 4.35 as I was able to set “Enroute jamming” in the BMS planning screen… Plane was targeted and whacked a good 50 miles out from the site…

Icer,
good evening.
On my little own, I started to trust nothing more than a little about A-6 Prowlers and EBUGs jamming capabilities, after having made some test TEs… in theory, they should be a real godsend (and they even really were or are in RL), but in Falcon all became another, different matter.I happened to get the best results when I added a ‘fake’ waypoint to that one settled for jamming, having it flagged as ‘jamming’ too. But this didn’t work always and at all costs, and this was on 4.34.
On 4.35, SAMs are bahaving differently, as all of us have learned quick to realize about.
So, in conclusion, we’d better to check out all from scratch and make a brand new tactics…
if able to find out something good, and reliable most of all, of any kind, I will post the result ASAP here. Promised. With best regards.

Don’t know if still applicable in 4.35, but make sure you have the server host all option set to on when using jamming aircraft in an online environment.

I’m setting up ECM flight plan in 4.35 still like Lorik advices with MC and not with BMS planning screen and Prowler/Growler do as intented

Waiting patiently for results of testing.
Did some testing of our own and our group was successful with taking out the Sa-10 repeatedly but it required a 4 ship flight coordinated in an overwhelming attack tactic with AGM-88s. Also had effective results using terrain masking and what I call a pop up attack with JSOWs within 15 miles of the target as a single ship.

Gentlemen,
to whomever may concern, here are my first test results: after planned the TE adding those ‘fake’ waypoints, the Growlers did their good job (I set a 2 seat package, flying at a 30,000 ft. operative altitude).
Randomly, one of two was caught by a SA-10 (not always the same one, interesting point this), but there was a 6 unit complex in action after all, and we all know in advance that more SAM units like to cooperate a lot. After done that, I’m going to study Lorik’s tutorial in deep now, then go to make a new test, and after done that one, a comparative final test, with and without a SEAD package in.
Will it take time? Sure. Not more than what’s needed to.
Let’s say, hhmmm… 3 or 4 Falcon hours.
With best regards to all.

Not my method. Check again.
Yessir… I have set it up again following your video/methodology, even named the flight Elvis in your honor… ;). I don’t fully understand exactly “why” we need the extra steps of changing the actions in MC in the “Action” column from NAV to “JAM” as it’s already “JAM” in “Route Action” but I have and I will see if the F18 lives to get to it’s patrol SPs this time.
Edit: Flew mission with my human wingman. We connected with Elvis at our Push point (angels 32.5k) and followed him in, staying just over 5 miles off his tail thinking his Jamming would protect us. At just under 50 miles (still well outside our TGP JSOW range) the SA10 fired two missiles. 1st took my wingman out, 2nd me. In retrospect, it’s likely he was too far (from SA10) to protect us, will try it again staying 60+ miles out until he is actually over the JAM patrol area. At least he didn’t get fired on this time (though the ACMI shows a 3rd SA10 being launched just as we exited). Other than that, i’m open to suggestions… Pitch black night so flying 200+ miles over water NOE and popping up would be a little rough and my AP (Pitch) has failed on me several times now… just stops functioning middle of flight out of nowhere, not responsive to mouse or keys, toggle does not move.
My understanding of BMS Jamming is not clear. I understand the premise of Jamming (for himself) on ingress/egress but I thought changing it in MC basically made him full ECM (20 Nm diameter ECM bubble) from when his (JAM) started (about 80 miles out from SA-10) to when it ended (about 80 miles away from SA10), along with the 30 minutes over the target area… ACMI file is here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/jvgukqgrrmozcpa/Elvis%20Failure-2021-2-7-18h27%2B14s.acmi?dl=0

Ran it again, this time hopped in just before our hold point to save time. EA18 (Elvis41) went in ahead Jamming the whole time, SA10 launched 1 missile, Elvis dead… ACMI here - https://www.dropbox.com/s/8nlkvubz2kz8oc2/SA10%20kills%20Elvis.vhs?dl=0

Which ones? Happy to zip them up!
I think Lorik is speaking of not only providing an vhs but also the TE file alongside. By the way you can use the Tacview save as zip.acmi feature instead of distribution a vhs file. This reduce the file size drastically. Not the issue for you file right now. But a 1GB Aacmi of a heavy MP mission can be reduced by the factor 10 by saving it with Tacview before uploading

Oak - It’s a Campaign, not sure exactly what files are required? There are 6 files using the same campaign save mission name, but as of this week I can not attach any jpg files, so the pic of the file structure won’t upload. I get “This is not a valid image file”… It’s a normal .jpg created by MSPaint, tried a .gif also… never had an issue before and have only used “14.74MB of 512MB” allowed. On the off chance I was correct, the 6 files are in the attached .zip file, hopefully they are what is required. As for the Tacview file, I normally do use the “zip.acmi” Tacview save for larger files but thanks for the reminder! This file is only 784KB (vs. 34,435 KB) so it’s better even for the smaller files if you are keeping them!
I’m sure all this may just be my messing up something and I can just avoid these “SA-10 centric” missions but somebody’s gotta do it! ;). I should mention I moved the 4-ship EA-18G squadron to Kimpo and also added this flight to my Package using MC. The EA-18G singleton flight from the 136th Sdrn TO is 2 minutes behind mine (F-16CM-50 2-ship) in the 14th Sqdn, both out of Kimpo. We (OCA package) join around SP3 and we let him lead us in… and unfortunately die.

Guys, I’m curious how you can use my method with the last MC version. It apparently broke the means to make it. Waypoint edition does not work/allow my changes anymore. As for now, I won’t use jamming aircrafts anymore until I understand what happens - which doesn’t seem to be soon, since I can’t really look into MC itself.

Lorik - Not exactly sure what you mean, the attached is a MC screenshot of my ECM flight… definitely 4.35, MC ver. 0.5.13.522. Vanilla Tiger Spirit Campaign in OEM KTO… As you can see it took the changes just fine, at least I think it did?

I’m saying I can’t make them.

Ok, same version of MC I use I assume, does my setup look valid? I guess we wait until it’s fixed!
