Weather change in Campaign?
-
20000seconds is roughly 5.5 hours and 25000seconds is roughly 7 hours, so everything at default setting you have a 1/4 chance of wx shift somewhere in between each 5.5th and 7th hours.
wx is fixed for only dogfight. te and campaign weather do honor weather control settings, except a bug with deterministic wx always going sunny for the very 1st shift - wx do change according to the numbers. you can go ahead and test easily by setting 600seconds for each min and max intervals, change probability % to your liking and accelerate the time when in 3d you’ll have visual on changing wx along with mb/hg, winds and whatnot.
Guess I had played around with the values before so I came up with 3 hours. I still believe something is causing “Sunny” to be more likely - I tried the 600 second shifts and 1 out of around 10 times the weather has been fair, other than that it’s always remained sunny.

it can only shift from 1 season each time.

You mean it cannot directly go to inclement when the weather is sunny? Seems fair to me, no pun intended.

I’m using 1000 min, 5000 max ATM, getting good changes in campaign, but does seem to favor the rain more?
Isn’t it in seconds? The default, 20000 to 25000 seconds should result in a weather change every 5 hours. I have been playing campaigns for much longer than 5 hours and have never seen a single weather change other than the wind direction.
-
I’m using 3600 min, 7200 max.
Sunny 25%
Fair 60%
Poor 10%
Shitty 5%Obviously the majority of my missions are in Fair weather, but i see just about everything over time. I’m pretty happy with this arrangement. I know that it is up to the end-user to set the weather as they see fit, but it would be nice if it defaulted to something a little more “realistic”.

keep in mind that the probabilities you set are in thoery only reached with a huge number of dice roll
this is possible to spend 40H in a 10% sunny even with a weather change every hour

We’re on Day 5, of our current on-going campaign. We’ve never, ever, had the weather change on its own in the campaign. Not in this campaign, nor in the last one that was up to 7 days. Every mission flown in MP.
I have a suspicion that if you don’t let the campaign run for at least 8-hour straight, it never changes.

doesn’t change for me either always sunny.
but i like sunny so no problemo -

I have no suscpision!! Of course if you don’t let the campaign run but save exit and run you start over the time counter at zero.
I could include the timer in the cam file but it would break tacedit. Another solution could be to include it in the wx file ….mmmhhhh

To try and offer some relevant feedback, I feel in campaign mode that having an option that takes the weather control away from the clients and letting it run automatically would be positive - so the pressure, humidity, turbulence, cloud layer, precipitation, change intervals are all (from a clients perspective) changing as per the locale for that season. The campaign mode is all about the dynamique, reacting to different air/ground threats and strategic movements. It would be another layer of immersion and realism to have to react to the weather accordingly as well, in my opinion. Is something like that even possible to implement or is it just a pipedream?
N.B. I’m not suggesting remove the manual weather control at all as I’m sure a lot of the playerbase enjoy having those options available.

It already does. IIRC

As I understand, the change in wheater are based on the time spent in a single session in the 3D world. If I decide 1800-3600 seconds between wheater changes, I launch a mission and exit the 3D before the minimum amount of time has passed, I’ll never see a weather change. Should it be possible to calculate the time based on the 2D world, taking the total amount of time of the campaign/tactical engagement in account, not just the bubble time. This way it will be a real random weather, with realistic changes, especially in duration. I think this is what many people desire. Word to the devs now, as they know if it is possible or not.

You should save weather settings and save profile, and you see in your campaign folder 4 files for any mission. When you exit and enter again in your te or campaign it has been saved.
try these settings

So the system doesn’t restart the count when I exit the bubble and than re-enter it? I would like to try much more long intervals, days maybe, 3-4 days of poor wheater, than 6 hours of inclement with storms, than a few days of improvement. I mean this kind of wheater. If it’s not possible with the system, I’ll set manually the changes basing on real world wheater in that region!

I use probabilistic and weather changes relative @ % values.I don’t notice the time it passes , I get to check but as you see in my settings or I have poor or fair and I think in Korea it’s the right weather.

2D time is of course taken into account, not at all only 3D time
problem is about the exit of the program. Each time you restart BMS, the “counter” is reseted because the counter is not saved in the wx file (i need to improve that point )

guys,
i think time intervals effects only in 3D.
i like having long flights from kadena japan to northen parts of DPRK and refuel 2 or 3 times until i gone winchester staying about 3-4 hours in 3D
most of the time i`ve weather changes in flight. Fair to poor or inclement etc.
my intervals are between 3 - 5 hours.
season: fall
weather: fair.sunny: %5
fair: %20
poor: %45
inclement: %30QT
