“The DED is an integral part of the upfront controls and provides a visual display of the switch actions made via upfront controls. The primary readouts of communication, navigation, and IFF systems are included in the page selections available for display on the DED. Channel, frequency, mode, and code selections of UHF, VHF, TACAN, ILS, and IFF are presented when the appropriate page is selected. INS present position and steerpoint data may be selected for display on the DED.”
This sentence is repeated, in the second occurrence the difference ist on the last phrase it saya “INS/EGI” instead of “INS”.
Page 155
In this picture the CNI page has UHF label and frequency also on the third line. Unsure if it is an error or in some block you can have COMM2 to work as Uniform radio.
Page 156
Another concept repeated: “The middle area of line two is blank during normal operation. If the upfront controls memory is lost, the upfront controls revert to default values and DFLT is displayed in the middle of line two.
DFLT is displayed if UFC memory is lost, and the UFC automatically uses default values.”Page 157
“The CNI readout/DED page summary displays IFF modes 1, 3, C, and 4 selected, 4567 (MODE 3 code), AUTO (automatic transponder switching function), T123 (TACAN channel number), and X (TACAN band).” This seems to me the caption of a picture but ist in the middle of a paragraph without illustrations.

BMS User Manual

Original: CCC will display Command, Communication and Control centres
Corrected: CCC will display Command, Control and Communication centres
Note: Command and control / C2 is a concept, C3 extends this with communication, which is a means to facilitate C2.Note: ‘centre’ is British English, ‘center’ is American English. Most of the document says ‘center’ (AE), but there are many occurrences of ‘colour’ (BE). It’s nitpicking, but for consistency either center/color or centre/colour should be used.

Original sentence: “g_bImageBasedLighting – For performance reasons you can disable this if not already, it’s a huge FPS eater but unused for now”
Corrected sentence: “”(I’m pretty sure this cfg option was deleted from the codebase, way back in 4.35 timeframe. Double-check me on that… but I suppose it should be moved to the section of deprecated cfg params.)

Original sentence: “The first thing to do is to ask Gunsan ground for clearance to taxi. The ATC usage is explained in the
BMS Comms-Nav-Book. Refer to: Part 1: The BMS Air Traffic Control
We recommend having your charts for Gunsan handy as well. The chart usage is explained in the
BMS Comms-Nav-Book. Refer to: Part 4: Falcon BMS Chart Reviev”Corrected sentence: “The first thing to do is to ask Gunsan ground for clearance to taxi. The ATC usage is explained in the BMS Comms-Nav-Book. Refer to Part 1: The BMS Air Traffic Control. We recommend having your charts for Gunsan handy as well. The chart usage is explained in the BMS Comms-Nav-Book. Refer to Part 4: Falcon BMS Chart Review.”
Consider replacing to: with to in second and fourth sentences. For the second sentence, add a period at the end of the sentence. For the fourth sentence, Change Reviev to Review and add a period at the end of the sentence.

Document: BMS Training Manual
Pages: 30 and 54
Training mission 1 was updated in 4.7.1 to originate in Tree Area as shown on the Gunsan airport diagram. The documentation still refers to “Wolfpack flows” in four locations. Consider changing “Wolfpack flows” to Tree Area in at least three of them. In addition, in some cases the associated sentences describe how (specific turns) the OP is to taxi the jet from Wolf Pack Flows which is not the case in mission 1.The last of the four is on page 54. If ATC directs return to a parking space at Wolf Pack Flows, consider changing “Wolfpack flows” to Wolf Pack Flows to match the naming convention shown on the airport diagram.

Document: Threat Guide, 4.37
Page: 29 (1x), 30 (2x), 32 (2x), 33 (4x), 34 (1x).
Original sentence: “HOJ"
Corrected sentence: “HOJ N/I" (greyed out like with LOAL N/I)HOJ for A-A missiles has been completely removed as of 4.37, according to Mav-JP. HOJ information for A-A missiles in the threat guide should be updated to indicate that this capability is not implemented in BMS 4.37, similar to how LOAL is styled.

Inaccurate listing of what VR-related lines are/aren’t in the falcon bms.cfg file
-
No mention of the VRZoom config line that is in the falcon bms.cfg file, nor any guide explanation of what VRZoom is all about.
-
No mention of the NoPresent config line or what it does.
I’m guessing these are items that were introduced or changed at the last moment after you submitted this document.

Original sentence: “The “Route” formation is a loose formation which corresponds to an enlarged “Fingertip” formation.”
Corrected sentence: “The “Route” formation is a loose formation which corresponds to an enlarged “Fingertip” formation (SEE BELOW).”There’s actually no previous definition or mention of Fingertip formation. With some research I could write a paragraph defining it if you’d like (or require).I’m an idjit.
Also, this documentation is amazing. Thank you for spending so much time creating and maintaining it.

Page: 94Original sentence: “Both emitters create a microwave path ending at the runway threshold allowing aircraft to be guided in bad weather
until the pilot can see the runway to follow the ILS, pilots need to place their aircraft in the center of both cones and stay there until minimum. ”Corrected sentence: “These emitters create a path ending at the runway threshold allowing aircraft to be guided in bad weather until the pilot can see the runway to follow the ILS, pilots need to place their aircraft in the center of both cones and stay there until minimum. ”
or
Corrected sentence: “Both emitters create a radio path ending at the runway threshold allowing aircraft to be guided in bad weather until the pilot can see the runway to follow the ILS, pilots need to place their aircraft in the center of both cones and stay there until minimum. ”
ILS works in VHF and UHF frequency bands. MLS works in the microwave band.

“Replacing music in BMS”Sorry, Micro, but this really needs an overhaul. References to 4.35, 4.36, and incorrect references to ‘ui1.ogg’ which is no longer used since BMS restructured their ambient filenames.

I’m talking about the following text document:
Falcon BMS 4.37\
Docs\
Wallpapers & Goodies\
FALCON BMS - As Real As It Gets - SOUNDTRACK\
README - Replacing music in BMS.txtAt the bottom of the file, it’s signed
Cheers,
MicroSo I assumed you created it. It just needs a lot of updating.
Also, the link
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OW4p-LlVjlZiPcIkFOcvGA86tiLNg_rU/view?usp=sharing
doesn’t appear to be valid, either.
Finally, I would mention that there is a far easier method that doesn’t require messing with the soundrc.irc file at all. Just rename your downloaded *.ogg files to theme_1.ogg, theme_2.ogg, etc.

Right. I will delete this file because no need anymore for it. Thanks for clarification. I totally forget about this file.

Micro, with all respect, I find it highly improbable that I’m the only Falcon flyer who uses his own music. For the past 3 or 4 years, I’ve been replacing the standard *.ogg files with music by Karl Jenkins, a contemporary Welsh composer.
With an updated well-written tutorial that guides other flyers in replacing the “stock” 5 ambient files, I’m sure others would appreciate the helping hand as well. I don’t understand how suddenly there is no need for this now.
I would be happy to put together an updated text document that would to replace the folder you plan on discarding anyway (FALCON BMS - As Real As It Gets - SOUNDTRACK). I would name the text document ‘Using Your Own Custom Ambient Music.txt’, and it would explain a very easy way to do this. Let me know, and I’ll be happy to put together a draft for your review.
PS - I would also recommend renaming
from
07 Wallpapers & Goodies
to
07 Wallpapers & Misc -
Okay I will update. Thanks for your input.

@Micro_440th some Hornet doc tweaks, per discussion w/ MavJP https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/24703/questions-about-auto-throttle/31
Document: BMS-Naval-Ops.pdf
Page: 5
Original sentence:When the landing gear is extended for landing the pitch will trim the AoA. Manual adjustment is required of the pitch- trim to set the correct AoA for landing. The initial AoA trim value is taken when lowering the gear. So, it is very wise to map a trim switch to the control stick.
Corrected sentence:
The optimal approach AOA for the F/A-18C/D is 8.1°, which corresponds to the center of the E-bracket symbology on the HUD (and the orange circle on the indexer). With the landing gear and flaps extended, and airspeed below 250 knots, the Hornet's FCS will attempt to adjust pitch to control AOA. The initial target AOA trim value is established when moving the FLAP switch from AUTO to either HALF or FULL position -- this target AOA can be fine-tuned using the pitch-trim controls on your HOTAS or key-bindings, but only within a narrow range -- so it's important to engage the flaps when flying close to the optimal 8.1° approach AOA. (See also: auto-throttle approach-mode, below.)
Document: BMS-Naval-Ops.pdf
Page: 7
Original sentence:ATC APPROACH Mode – With the FLAP switch set to HALF or FULL the thrust is set to maintain the AoA when the ATC button is pressed.
Corrected sentence:
ATC APPROACH Mode – With the FLAP switch set to HALF or FULL, the throttle is manipulated mechanically to maintain the desired approach AOA (see Pitch-Trim, above) which was established when the flaps were extended, and fine-tuned by pitch-trim controls.
