Aim120

Are we ever going to get the aim120d or even the c7? Also is there a way to modify the range on the aim120c5? It’s range is 57nmi and it definitely can’t hit targets even 50 nmi away…
-
Missiles have engagement zone and not a single “range” value.
-
The zone depends on the speed and alt of the launch, and the speed, heading altitude and changing of these factors in any moment.
This is R-77 considering the following parameters.
- M0.9 launch speed.
- M0.9 target speed
- same launch and target altitude
- non maneuvering target
Can you see the huge range differences?
The case is the same of EVERY AAMs.The reality is far more complex than your very, very…
It is hard to find words on that what you posted… -
-
Is it only me that doesn’t feel very comfortable discussing about how realistic is one the most classified missiles in the western world?
Let’s accept the new data for the missile, adapt and try to employ new tactics based on this envelope. Let’s imagine that this is a new missile and try not to compare with the real one.
For those who develop other versions of the missile and employ other tactics based on that, have in mind that in TvT event with the ordinary default missile envelope things can go really wrong.

we cannot accept data that are not physically correct.
It is not THAT difficult to estimate a ballpark figure for missile kinematics

I was not talking about developing. I have read the post and I am aware of all of these information.
I am talking for people like me who don’t have the knowledge, time and possibly means (software) to change what we have.
Keep developing the missile is great. The only annoying thing is that we must constantly change our tactics in order to adapt with the new envelope but this is challenging too.

AIM120B has not changed since 4.33
AIM120C has been introduced in 4.36 and has not been changed since.AIM120D is not included in BMS ,
-
4.36 transition made us to redefine a lot of things in the BVR arena, and after one year we don’t master all tactics that we used to do with 4.35.

@molnibalage
Oh. Ok. I’m new don’t mind me but do you wanna do some BVR so you can see what I mean? No there’s just the range. None of that matters. -
@white_fang you too. Lmk. I’m a FNG tho just started flying yd.

Good Day, All. As the Aim-120D discussion has occurred in a couple of threads, I felt The Mafia Journal thread was a good place to respond.
So, you are invited to https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/19270/bms-other-fighters-mafia-bmsofm-journal/760 -

@AviationPlus I know, I meant for a non maneuvering target.
-
@bjjman94 Oh ya maybe.
I am sure both aircraft are 45k going 1.1M so very ideal conditions. -
@molnibalage
Oh. Ok. I’m new don’t mind me but do you wanna do some BVR so you can see what I mean? No there’s just the range. None of that matters.What matters you ***** that the 57 nm citied “range” of the AIM-120C is simply not true against subsonic targets because both of them should be flying at M0.9 at 15km of altitude with perfect head aspect.
Russian estimation of the EZ of the AIM-120.
Also you simply forgot about the bubble limitation of the game.
I do not know how you wish to engage anything from 57 nm because for most of target that is higher than the delegating distance between the 2D and 3D world. If the target flight does not de aggregate because of your radar cursor what you wish to reach is simply impossible. Since 10+ years I have not tried engage anything from such distance, therefore I do not know how exactly works the BMS4.(In FF era I created a TE with an M2+ speed MiG-25 what I engaged with an F-14 + AIM-54 from 200 km. It worked. But likely I had to modify the bubble distance of the plane.
What matters you have clearly no understanding any of the topics what matters to your request. Which is quire irritating considering your baseless rage…

4.36 included dynamic bubbles therefore the bubble corresponds now to the highest range of the sensors own/target
What amazes me the most in this story is how people deny physics and value marketing info.
This is the drama of our modern world , Noeone is listenening to the scientists and everyone knows everything

You mean some of us did 5 to 7 years of study for nothing???
I do not regret my degree… Worked hard to get it!
