Thank you so much for this information . Delayed U3 is not a problem for our VFS. Our next campaign will start in october, so we can wait and we already enjoy 4.37 U2.
I am also curious to know which software allows to handle the BML graphics format?

I like these dev reports, but you schould forget about standing deadlines. This was so before, and would be good for the future too.

For the time being, there will be no use of anything else than converting a LOD or a “LOD DB” to the new format (BML). So people will still need to have LODs and convert them. Later with PBR there will be an option to create/export BML models directly from 3DMax and hopefully even from Blender.

@hiuuz sorry, no, works without deadlines last forever, lack organization, burn out devs and leave users in the vacuum. Our deadlines are best effort, a guidance for what will go into the next version based on the progress and people working on it.
But we still try to respect them and report when things dont go according to the plan. It is good for devs, good for users.
Just a quick example, right now we have code ready to be tested that is being held for this version exactly because we are close to a release. Without this, new code is added forever, generating more bugs, more tests and more delays. Which also means more stress.

Fully agree with this. I have worked with companies that had deadlines (commitments to end-users) but just continued to fix bugs and add new features. The deadlines just rolled on by whilst the quality got worse. It’s better to hold back new features and get a release out of the door that has been well-tested so the developers can draw a line and move on. The end-users may not get everything they wanted, but something is better than nothing. The rest will follow.

The ability to use Blender (a free tool) would really be a huge addition for thousands of 3D model designers who can’t afford “3DS MAX” at $235 per month.Several people could then contribute for free to the 3D objects available in BMS. Keep up the great work, because the Falcon community truly appreciates all your efforts.

@Seifer True. Deadlines for devs are important. I think about deadlines for fans. Regular dev reports are very good fan service, but if you encounter something unexpected what throws back the developement 3 months than you don’t have to apologize. We get everything for free and I’m grateful for that!

Thanks for the detailed update. I think this might be my last update to BMS for me for a while, my old pc is starting to show its age now. System prices seem to be gradually falling now so it won’t be long before I have to make the AMD vs Intel decision to last me for another 5 years hopefully. Thanks for all the hard work.

@Seifer I am running an old i7 combined with an AMD 7950 3 GB card and 32GB of RAM. This system has served me well over the years and still runs the existing BMS smooth as silk. I also play Steelbeasts and I have noticed some major frame drops with the newer updates. I think the terrain updates for BMS might just be a step too far but I will give it a go when it arrives. It’s probably time to invest for the future, I am thinking i9 13900 and rx4090 with 64GB RAM should get me through the next 10 years. I have noticed a price drop of nearly £1000 (UK) within the last 6 months currently at £3250 for that system, not sure if they will drop much more.
