[4.37] #2#3#4 (AI / SP) AGM-65D Behaviour - Not efficent

Things i found while operating in a 4-ship mission on moving vehicles:
When they get the order “ATTACK TARGETS”, they fire 2 missiles, 5seconds seperation, on the same targets. 1st missile hits, second is always missing.
So 6 missiles fired, 3 targets destroyed (50% efficiency, always) .- I order #3#4 "ATTACK MY TARGET", they each fire 2 missile on the same target.
So 4 missile on 1 target (25% efficiency) .

I can give #2#3#4 GBU-12 (the drop 1 bomb on 1 target) but when weather is not so good they refuse to attack.
The AGM-65 is the only weapon AI flight members use in all weather conditions but the efficiency is bad.
I hope that this will be fixed so they can release 1 missile on 1 target.

I would expect this to happen with such a short interval between deliveries.

@regev What about giving the AI the weapons hold command immediately after the first release?

@regev if you recon it, you can assign the targets individually to each ai jet. That helps me atleast

Be careful with Weapons Free Ground. Sometimes they will run off and attack troops outside your AO. I like the Attack Targets command if you want them on a short leash. I don’t ever assign troops to specific wingmen…and get good results. One quirk recently. I was carrying GBU-54 and the wingmen refused to drop them on a non moving battalion through scattered clouds. Very frustrating, that one. Here is a quick ACMI recording of me and an AI wingman mopping up stuff. I used the Weapons Free here, as there wasn’t much else for him to go after. AI are generally pretty accurate with Mavs in my book.

Point is that they shouldn’t fire 2 missiles on 1 target.
What you suggestion, while attack is going, is too complicated and all happens fast. I need to give one order and let them do it. -

This needs to be fixed by DEV team eventually someday at the future.

For #2 & #3 its true.
#4 is the exception here. If i give to ELEMENT “attack my target”, #3 do it and #4 do the same . . . like i said 4 missiles fired on one vehicle . . . -

If I’m not mistaking this וs for ground structures, not for ground units.

Here we can see that they fire 2 missiles on each attack.
Hard to tell if both missiles hit one target each time or every missile have different target. -
@regev that particular mission, he was 6 for 6. All on different targets. I rarely have problems with wingmen messing up with Mavs

@regev - actually, this is something one can "“fix” by simply not doing it…and/or revising tactics in order to make a train of shots effective. I can say the same for all of the reports of neck-strain issues I read of regarding VR - which I’ve totally expected to read about…
I just wish they would take the triple rack out of the sim altogether.

I don’t. I love triple-racks (not those triple ‘racks’ ) even since - and they’re still cool.
What’s the problem, don’t have enough weapons in campaign ?
Use something else till resupply, that’s what I do, but I rarely get OUT on AG weapons, … Amraams get LOW/OUT first.
Also , check other AI flights and customize loadouts for them, kinda micromanagement, but… -
