After my aging system had monitor hardware defect and a snowball effect with connection compatibility issues, i had decided that probably now was a good time to build a new machine and to finally be able again to enjoy the latest versions.

@Obi1 anything with 6gb of vram would work easily, though you could run it with 4gb too.

…Yes they will have. 4.38 has trees collision for the player, and there are 100s of millions of them in KTO…
It’s not really hard to manage sane damage detection if done right. Buildings will be the same but will be broader (Damage from anything, weapons AI etc). -

The cities in DCS, are they Autogen or hand-placed ? From videos they give a good sense of a cityscape

@jayb pretty sure autogen, since its simply not possible to add each building by itself, would take impossible amounts of time

@jayb I assume partly autogen, partly hand-placed.
For example, in these screenshots, the buildings have been placed manually.

Mmm, good question (DCS cities, autogen).
I’m pretty sure they are hand placed with no no autogen, or as @VirPilot said , some are autogen.
When you look at (dynamic) map, you’ll see exact outline of the each building, with all corners, stairway and irregularities, autogen object can’t know in advance which outline would show.Objects with no outline, not on map are probably autogen, eg… ships, carriers previously weren’t shown on map, since they were dynamic, similar to autgoen.
But for cities, since they are build with tons of details, “specials” , that simply cannot be autgoen.
Only autgoen(s) I am sure are trees, forest, that can be placed even by the player in mission editor.
How did they performance tune it … I would not go there, probably low lod’s and view distance as everybody … but is more complex then that , involving who knows what tricks and magic.

@white_fang some objectives(political etc) will be placed but im pretty sure most will autogen to populate the scene
