Has anyone bought and tested the TM TQS?
-
Yes! Installer it today and took it for a ride! It’s top notch quality. The axes of the radar cursor are oriented slightly different compared to the Cougar. I’ll get used to it someday.
You need to install the drivers from the Thrustmaster page to activate all the buttons (if you happen to have the Panel). Otherwise the you won’t be able to use all of them (e.g. Master Arm Off, Quiet, etc.).
I hope that the price will drop a bit over time.
Other than that, it’s quite a neat device and much better than my heavily modded Cougar throttle and world’s apart from the stock one. -
@Zwingli
Thanks for your input. So in the final analysis, when you are starting the engine, when you move past the TM idle detent, does it behave correctly? With my old TQS, i have to move the mouse over the idle detent arm and click it.
When shutting down the engine, moving past the idle detent, does the engine shut down?Thanks for your answer.

@Sneakpeek
AWESOME!! -
Short update
As @Sneakpeek mentioned, you need to activate the “virtual buttons”
After that I managed to set the Master ARM switch to ON/OFF/SIM at the Alternativ Launcher
But I couldn`t get the CATI/ CATIII (2-way Switch) to work, so i used the Config option within BMS itself under Setup and saved my own Keyfile.

Yes, it works correctly.
Instead of clicking this “hidden” or mapped cut off button virtually you do it like the real thing. Check this out:A real benefit I figured out is: that you can fly proper Full MIL and not accidentally slip into the AB (fuel saving). The transition between Full MIL and AB is actually quite smooth I think. Even though it looks quite rough in reviews…
Since there is a much bigger travel on the throttle axis I really have to change my muscle memory on landings compared to the TM Cougar Throttle…
Your welcome…

@Zwingli
Thanks for the response.
I am IN!! -
@Zwingli
Does the C end of the USB cable plug into the TQS? The other end of the USB looks normal to me and goes into my UCB hub. -
@Zwingli
I just checked my PC. There is a C-type USB port open on the front. That is why I asked which end gets the C-USB on the cable. -
@huffer2 The C end plugs into the front of the TQS, the other end is USB A and plugs into your PC or powered USB HUB.

For BMS
The idle detent cutoff and idle……
Assign DX18 to the idle cutoff in the alternate launcher
Then, for the throttle to idle position, set that to The same DX command (DX18) but click Press in the alternate launcher so it changes to release.
This will cause the idle cutoff when pressed to shut down the engine and when released to put the engine into idle.
-
@cougar56th That worked.
Have you figured out assigning the landing gear? DX38 is in the gear up position - I can’t get gear down assigned.
How about the zoom switch near the speed brake? -

You mean this way ?
@jcook have you activated the virutal buttons ? Gear Down would be DX57

@Echo
It’s the other way around:TQS: CUTOFF RELEASE - Idle Detent - Idle --> DX18 RELEASE
TQS: CUTOFF RELEASE - Idle Detent - Off --> DX18Kind of a pressed DX18 means “cut off” and a released “idle”.
-
@Zwingli
i know it it was a 50/50 and i got it wrongHm, okay set it now the right way but when im in 2D and under Setup the
TQS: CUTOFF RELEASE - Idle Detent - Idle --> DX18 RELEASE
isnt showing up when im using it only OFF
-
@huffer2 Even with the old TQS, you can set positions for idle cut-off and afterburner in the launcher. So then when you move your throttle past the idle cut-off position, you shouldn’t need to use the keyboard for the idle detent.
-
Sorry, I had to mention that I do the key and axis-mapping only in the bms launcher. It’s far more easier than in the game itself. Especially if you have more than 2 devices…
-
@Ricky yes but this throttle full aft movement is idle. From idle to Idle cutoff is not registered as a movement of the axis. Idle cutoff is a button press.
-
Here my settings for the throttle axis and cut off in pictures.
This is how the TQS Software registers “cut off” position" or “not in cut off”.
“Cut off” --> Button 18 is active
“Idle” and up to Full AB --> Button 18 is not active
To get into this menu in Windows10 you have to go to “settings” typ in “gamecontroller” and choose the Viper TQS…How I made the settings:
Keymapping in BMS Launcher
Axis mapping in BMS Launcher:
Full MIL
Full AB“IDLE DETENT” is not needed in Axis mapping.
The “AB DETENT” has to be placed very few in front of the point were you have to lift the throttle in AB…Hope that can help…
-
No Problem, im also using the AL , but wenn in 2D I’m just testing if the “Button” is registered by the game… sorry mean simulation (Release DX18)
As you can see its set but in the Setup menu there is no reaktion for it
I thnik I’m missing something but dont know what…

Did anyone get the indicator lights to work? Has anyone tried using Target? I cannot get Target to show my Viper TQS. I had no problem programming with Alt Launcher, I was hoping Target may get the lights working.
