Good And Smooth Setup Vs Bad Setup

@P-J Hi, it seems like you’re never happy with anything.
-
…plus neither of those are max settings with object detail at zero etc. LOL
-
Comparing apples and oranges…
Compare maybe 4.36 and 4.37U but I don’t want to see anything below that being compared…Anything earlier than that is IRRELEVANT…

@P-J said in Good And Smooth Setup Vs Bad Setup:
FHD menu just introduced in 4.37
will get further improvement in 4.38, including the “Setup menu”moreover, if you have problems with FPS, erase the V from Triple buffering (you should read the manual pal)
now…Enjoy the present

@P-J Radeon 8790M – this is a 10 year old laptop? without seeing all specs I can’t say but it seems likely very borderline to not meet minimum sys req for BMS 4.37.
anyway, 4.34- vs 4.35+ are totally different graphics engines… effectively different games. apples and oranges, as was said.
my standard advice for maximizing your chances, on old laptops etc:
minimize antialiasing (set to 1x) … turn off canopy reflections, pilot model and mirrors… minimize grass and trees sliders
then, I recommend following config (put these lines in your ‘falcon bms user.cfg’ file)
set g_bEnvironmentMapping 0 set g_bWaterEnvironmentMapping 0 set g_bEnvMapRenderClouds 0 set g_bEnvMapRenderFocusObject 0 set g_bShadowMapping 0 set g_bShadowOnSmoke 0 set g_bReducePSFires 1 set g_bHdrLighting 0 set g_bHdrLightingStar 0 set g_bUseHeatHazeShader 0 set g_bShowFarRain 0 set g_bShowRainDrops 0 set g_bShowRainRings 0

@P-J Time for some new hardware perhaps?

@airtex2019 bro my old laptop was running 4.37 without any issue it happened after 2 months
i even run il2 sturmovik and flaming cliffs 3 on this laptop with max settings -
@b0bl00i im thinking about lenovo legion y540 15 - 9th gen ci7 tell me if its a good setup for bms ?
i cant keep bigger desktops so i have to stay on portable pc’s
-
@vAiCon should i turnoff OPENGL buffering from my amd radeon graphics settings also or not ?
-
@P-J Any OpenGL settings won’t affect BMS as it’s using different GFX API.
-
@P-J I just got my wife a 13th gen Lenovo Legion, it seems quite nice… I didn’t run BMS on it but it benches faster than my 9th gen core i7 desktop.
The trackpad software is kinda dodgy… I forget the oem but it doesn’t have drivers in Win11, if you can believe that. So, gotta have a usb mouse handy if you ever want to reinstall Windows! Other than that, it seems quite good build quality and good specs, for the price.

Hmm… be sure to grab latest AMD drivers. There has been a lot of chatter in gaming community about buggy drivers, over the past couple months.
I don’t know if or how that may apply to older gpu parts… or if it affected dx9 vs dx11 etc. But worth a try.

@airtex2019 i will use win10 instead of win11 on lenovo
-
@airtex2019 thanks i will try other driver versions
