Hey guys…I’ve had a couple of rough days at the office so no real time to sit on the computer to write properly.
First I would like to say that no other pit will be developed my me at least in a year if ever so no need to get excited and propose anything. With that said thank you for all your comments and ideas. I welcome all of them but please think before posting!! F-35 pit?? Really?? What would be the point of this ? Impossible for me to do even a half credible version of the f-14…Just try to be realistic
Best advice that I read is, if you really want something, step up and do it yourself. Organise a small team of people that share the same goal and divide the work rationally. I’m ready to help step by step to anyone that wants to…
This tread has been a good balance of project updates, nice comments, interesting stuff, critiques (Molni ;-)) etc… Lets try to keep it that way…
Take care guys,
Pepe

Wise words from a great developer and a nice guy!
Just keep on your great project my friend and don’t be afraid for sometimes you feel that you have lost it. Big projects always have this symptom ;). Just look forward.

I can just repeat myseflt. Best era for F4.0 engine is '80-'90s, the era of lowres MFDs and othe western 4th gen. avioncs suite. MiG-21/23 and even MiG-29/Su-27 are not in this category. Hornet, Tomcat and older F-16C (Block 25) are suitable.

If I recall right, Ara had an expression for opinions
-
Im pretty sure it involved firing HARMS randomly into space…
-
Nope, it was more like: opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one and most of them stink

Pepe:
I found a couple of pictures from 1989/1990 that I took with my chemical film camera of an F-14 in low vis that came to my base. They are pretty grainy, but I hope they help you with your work. If nothing else, it can give you some nice eye candy when you take a break from your amazing project.

That’s a great view from the inside of the canopy! What do you reckon the white stickers/papers on it are? Never have seen them before…
Thanks!
-
Pepe, the white stickers on the canopy frame were emergency exit instructions. Kind of what you find on the overwing hatches of a commercial airliner. At least that is what my foggy memory remembers. The other thing that I remember is that the pilot sits very close to the forward canopy metal frame. So that may effect your default forward view. I’m not sure if Falcon allows this implementation, but you can see the forward mirrors and their clever mounting on the canopy frame. This arrangement gives the pilot amazing situational awareness. Even the RIO/WSO, gets a rear view mirror.
Originally, I was going to end development on my Korea 2012 addon. But your cockpit work has given me a great inspiration. I’m working on a Hotfix that allows the F/A-18 and F-14 jets to be flown from carriers at the beginning of all three campaigns. That way a player can fly the F-14 throughout the entire campaign of his choosing, kind of like the game Fleet Defender. I’m editing TACEDIT right now. When I get get some testing done, I will post a link at the Korea 2012 modpage and here.:D
-
Where are the compass cal placards in the cockpit? Would they be visible from the front office?
-
Pepe, I modified my Korea 2012 campaigns so that teh F-14, F/A-18C and F/A-18D can be flown from the beginning to the end of all three campaigns. Go ahead and use my mod for your pit testing. I think it will make your development much easier and more fun than reusing the same TEs repeatedly.

Cool…will have a look… Did you manage to use what I sent?
Havent touched my pit in 2 weeks now…busy at work and a surprisingly busy social life! Let’s see this weekend.

Yes I used it for testing in my theatre mod. It worked flawlessly. Though I can’t give you any technical advice on how to improve the visuals, I can say it has very good compatibility with Korea 2012 and few other addon theatres in my install.

Hey guys…a quick update where things are at the moment!
I have been quite busy for the past weeks, lots of work at the office with a big deadline and lots of drinking too so no much time on my side, but as you might know if your have a project you are really excited about you cant really stop thinking about it! Since I got the stick from Sundevil I´ve been working hard on finishing small details on the pit that I was feeling really lazy about (ie. the landing gear handle, canopy jettison handle, the radio(failed), NWS light (fail) and some other bits and pieces…all that is gone well at the moment (except the fail bits). I still want to figure out how the alpha works on the maps, I haven’t been able yet to make it work (I think Im doing something wrong…) I will keep trying and if it doesn’t work I will ask the masters…I want to use it mainly to use the proper needles on the instruments instead of the place holder rectangles I have at the moment.
I´ve also animated the stick and as I mentioned somewhere else the pedals and the pit now feels fully alive. A few days ago I prepared a small BETA! and I have distributed to a very limited amount of people. It was mainly planned to show Wavey Dave a few issues Im experiencing but as it is kind of functional I decided to sent it also to a few other people (very few). I heard back from some of them and they reported that is working well so that is some good news right there. If they feel like it please tell us what your experience was and show some screens/videos. I find it very funny that someone else in the world is actually flying a bit with my pit :D. I would like to solve the problems Im having and some other rough edges WD has found before a second (open this time) beta. When? Who knows…
In the meantime a screenie from tonights flight (yes I do fly sometimes too!)
Happy thanksgiving for all those who celebrate and for the rest TAKE CARE!!
Pepe (I ran for the first time today since the accident! To catch the tube!)
