@LorikEolmin please share your link…it is still protected.
Sure, you’re right. There we go. Thank you.

@LorikEolmin I confirm. Let me check this one…

Sounds like bubble-related ?

That is correct, sensors such as FCR, TGP and FLIR have their own sphere of influence, although the aircraft bubble is defined and has a fluid distance to appear or disappear, the sensors can influence them. Remember that these same sensors can disaggregate and add units if their area of influence is within the limits of the unit.

Interesting indeed
-
Seems like a bug to me.
-
The bubble-hypothesis would be that the RWR only tells you signals from deaggregated 3D entities. Things further out - inside the aggregated blob - cannot spike things outside the blob, such as our jet.
If it is indeed bubble driven, then I am not sure it would qualify as a bug. More a matter of if the bubble sizes/distances are calibrated properly.
-
Multiple clients flying close, different versions of the RWR picture depending on radar ranges. I have a spike, you don’t? Set your radar on 160. Ah, you have it now? Usual story here. Not sure a bubble limitation is a sufficient explanation. Especially after what I read about the care invested in it in the AI TASMO thread with Nick and Mav-jp.

Tried this on multiple range going towards the Sentry, you can reproduce this even very close.
If you restart your RWR with radar set at 20 NM, you won’t get the sentry nails until you extend your radar range to 40NM (the sentry is at 38NM).If you put the radar range at 10, you only see the contact on the rwr when around 55.65 (and based on the acmi the sentry had a lock on me at 60NM)

and maybe not just air spikes, it’s been so forever and I really feel it’s time for me (us) to report that.

Get your butts in the F16 in that KTO TE, do nothing for 20 seconds, appreciate the barlock on the RWR. Exit the TE.
-
Get your butts in the F16 in that KTO TE, switch your radar range to 80, then 160 nm, then appreciate the new guy Sentry suddenly reported by your RWR, that wasn’t there during the previous try.
It happens regularly with fighters too, not just AWACS. And I’m not sure, but maybe with ground radars too. I wouldn’t bet on that though, I’d wait for it to happen to me again before stating it.

The sensors are acting as deaggregation pencils
Your awacs was probably aggregated and when you search it with longer radar range you deagged it
You can check this assumption by looking in external view if you see the awacs aircraft or not
In term of gameplay it doesn’t change much as it will apply only for very long range radars
Aggregated sams are displayed on RWR which is not the case of AA units
Thanks for reading.

Would there be a way to set up sharing of de-aggregated entities among jets in formation? The issue seems to be that an in formation flight gets very different RWR returns since each jet has its own individual de-aggregation running. Not talking about FCR returns, since that obviously depend on range which can be different among the jets.

@Mav-jp
Hello!
With a SU-27 head-on in a TE, I can see the SU with the external view but if my radar is set to 20NM, I won’t detect it on RWR before 35NM
It turns towards me a 36 NM. He is on me before I have the nails on the RWR.(I know I shouldn’t be on 20NM range, just for testing)
Thanks! -

Thanks!Mav, thanks for your answer. I suspect foe fighters, as Mikyjax describes, won’t be as complacent with theory. I fear it will be too hard to reproduce anyway. We’ll live with it, we’re your specialists for that.

@tiag More food for your amazement.
-
@LorikEolmin This is obviously surprising, since Rafales are outside the scope of the FCR.
