A minor QoL improvement - if possible, maybe it would be useful to expand the multiplayer connection box so that it can use a host name instead of IP address only - no need to share the IP any longer.

Can we see the USAF Block 40/50 series with the POIBT upgrades?

What???!!! I thought EVERYBODY knows what POIBT is!!!
Okay, being more accurate: Apparently, @Jumpstart5179 thought everybody knew what POIBT is…

@Jumpstart5179 as stated a lot in this now massive thread, BMS will not implement things by guessing, they require documentation that is obviously unclassified. A lot of POBIT, like the APG-83’s capabilities and MFD implementation symbology, is probably not publicly documented yet.

First we’d need GPS jamminmg in the sim
If we’re having really modern warfare modeled, we’d need missile strikes enabled again followed by munitions like cruise/ballistic and regular A/G missiles being targetable by air defence units and fighters, including human controlled ones, then campaign engine knowing how to handle it reasonably. And lots of drones of various kind.I mean, we very clearly do not have modern warfare modeled, yet China has the J-20 (and no F-35 at all and no F-22 in most campaigns). Honestly, I think adding the J-20 to the stock KTO campiagns was a poor choice. It’s not needed for realism (we aren’t doing modern warfare IIRC) and it really breaks the fun. Flankers with jamming are hard enough (they constantly break my lock in TTS).
I’d totally understand putting the J-20 in an extra hard campaign (I vaguely remember an earlier BMS version having an entire theater with much stonger red forces), but I don’t think it should be in the regular ones.
-
@sungad I have less of a problem with airframes selection, for me it’s lack of some aspects of todays warfare.
-
Realistically, the pilot would choose between a JHMCS visor or NVG. Don’t think you can have both. So that should be an option on the loadout - you could default it to JHMCS and have to select the NVG option.
-
My humble request for future not knowing much on how its all done other than old F4 PMC theaters would be to have well laid out training rangers in all maps and either equivalent to Korea or more extensive with model targets, shipping containers, old tanks, air craft various painted targets strafe nets so on. I honestly don’t care if its not geographically correct. I desire them to be put in areas where it makes it challenging to enter in like narrow valleys or mountainous locations or heavy forested tree-lines. Just more to the challenge and know hit box effects in new graphics engine is coming, this would be something worth implementing for theater devs. Its just my humble request. Fingers crossed.

My knowledge verifies this. JHMCS and NVG are mutually exclusive.

Before 2018 this is correct but according to this it is now used by USAF, USN, USMC.
“Now the system is being fielded in large quantities to Air Force, Navy, and Marine fleet pilots and has already been used during combat operations in the Middle East.”

It would be great to have a detailed section in the documentation explaining how time works in the game. All aspects of setting times, adjusting time how to set a reasonable countdown, etc.
I waste so much REAL time sitting around while falcon counts down some arbitrary launch number.
I’ve been trying to modify the AAR training mission for night time practice using mission commander and all i’ve managed to do is add a 7 hour count down before i can takeoff.
It would be nice have a few pages in the documentation going into detail on this.

I think it would be cool if in campaign bent airframes (oversped, over-g’id) were removed from pool of available planes for 24-48h simulating deeper inspection/maintenance. Some extra motivation to keep your flying within a limits.
I keep wondering what happens to damaged aircraft in BMS. Are they just used on the next flight like nothing happened?
And what happens if I land at a different base?

Even 15 years ago when I asked about this in FF4 era it was told to me that the camp. engines calculates the damage and after a certain point summarize then adds a lost plane in the 2D world.
For the ATO there was some kind of delay when will be available a plane against if it lands on a different airfield than home base.
I guess even the very old base cold considered these factors. RP5 manual maybe mentions these.
-
I wish that, if I take control of a squadron, I could have a selection of body skins to choose from, including camo options.
-
@molnibalage I heard that (in earlier versions, at least) aircraft landed at the wrong base will taxi along the ground to the home base, albeit it hidden. It can take them several hours to get back, as a consequence.
I think now, the aircraft are simply moved in inventory with a delay before they can be used again (I seem to recall 12 hours).
-
@Tiger-0 So if I land somewhere else due to being low on fuel, I better ask for a hotpit refuel and then fly home rather than just exiting the flight.

Just keeping the dream alive!

Fast forward to 13:18 . . . .
- In 2D, the steerpoints display the compass directions between them, negating the need for the Ruler to get headings.
