Balkans Bugs and Crashes Thread

Hi Guys
I can’t open the scenario Balkan on my server. Whenever I select a few seconds later my simulator crashes. The operating system is Windows Server 2008 with ATI 4500 graphic card and I have no problem with all the other scenarios. I also tried to uninstall everything and reinstall the scenario with the hotfix 1 but nothing. I attach my logfile.

try to reinstall the theater and do not use the hotfix, clean install

I did as you said, uninstall and clean install Theatre (without hotfix), nothing has changed = still CTD

After full reinstall Falcon 4, now all is work.

There is a bug with A-10. It’s left aileron is positioned all the way down. Only when you move your stick full right it levels, but then the right aileron is down. No such bug with A-10 in Korea. Any clue?

We are flying from Gioia del Colle and experiencing this bug repeatedly. It happens when we take the right side of the taxiway. Left side is working OK. 16L B gate.
Perhaps base model is not correct, it seems texture is not perfect.Edit: OK, I’ve found that RAM22 addressed this question here, but AFAIK this fix is not included in the official Download Links post, so the problem remains for all the people that as me are trying to fly from Gioia over standard files (original + hotfix1)

Thank you, neystratiou. The file you posted is the same I pointed to, and it is working too. The problem in Gioia is gone. But the problem, as I see it, is that people that want to install Balkans is only aware of the base install + hotfix1. I think it is needed to modify the download post to reflect the new fix. That could be 3 to 4 minutes. Or else, release a new balkans version, but that could be 3 to 4 falcon weeks… and that’s OK.

Hi Im not sure if this is the right place to post this bug but it has happend to me twice today and both in Balkans with F-16As NL
Basicly first today, my wingman(2) ejected some seconds prior to crashing into me as I was of on the right wingtip of the tanker (KC-135) and thereafter blowing us all up.
I blamed the poor AIs rookie setting and generall AI incompetence (not used to refueling with them in multiplayer)But later we are flying a 4 ship and 3 of us in formation and the last guy off at a tanker.
out of nowhere I blow up infront of the others(as they say)
This time I get tranfered directly to FLY-BY CAM.
when I exit out it says I collieded with a Yougslavian MiG-21Mbis and that I downed it.
There were no Spikes, just got clear skies from AWACS, the others didnt see any other aircrafts nearby.
I have never experianced this in BMS before.
But Im curious if its a Balkans, BMS or server bug?Thanks for your time

A friend and I both jumped into BMS on Win7x64 a few days ago after last playing AF a couple years ago. We both have trouble with Balkins (our favorite theater) but are a little different from each other.
Neither of us have trouble in Korea. The only thing in common with each other and many posters here is the sudden and extreme poor performance happen over the mainland Balkins area when in heavy compat.
Friend on Nvidia:
Some stutterers, then when Mig 29 shows up with missiles in the air, he gets an unrecoverable freeze with sound in a loop.
Myself on AMD Radion:
Same situation as above, but get short and long stutters (.5 - 2 sec) with no unrecoverable freeze or crash.
My hardware has more RAM and CPU/GPU than my friend.When I played Balkins in AF, I was able to do with with no crashes, stutters or freezes at high frame rates for endless hours on a weaker machine.
Both of us notice the rendering of the tiles in Balkins looks a little different than Korea as if the tiles are being processed differently. Looks like some kind of anisotropic problem.
Almost as if the tiles share some kind of encoding error or slight incompatibility with BMS.

Last night I encountered the same problem as my friend. Returning from a successful mission while nearing the Albania coast, the program froze while an AWACS or ATC voice was stuck in a loop. I have a strong PC with every option I could identify turned down to lower than default settings. Stutters are frequent with frame rates averaging 40-50.
When I played Balkans under F4 AF, I had no stutters or freezes in hundreds of hours of play. I don’t know if it’s Balkans or BMS, but Korea seems unaffected.
We are both flying single player. I’m on Radeon, my friend on NVidia. We eventually have the same problem, just takes longer to happen for be, likely because I have more CPU, sys and vid memory. Might be a memory leak or bubble cache problem.

It’s unfortunate that I can’t play the Balkans Theater, due to all the freezeup’s. It looks like it would be alot of fun, but, no matter what settings I use, when the object density gets too large, my computer eventually grinds to a halt and freeze’s up. I have no issues with the original Korea campaign. Object density doesn’t seem to be an issue. I can use the higher graphic and config. settings.
I’ve tried all the suggestions posted with no luck. Back to Korea I guess. -

Hopefully this is the best place to talk about this but I think we’ve encountered an issue with one of the Airbases in the Balkans theater.
During one of the 72nd large force exercise the other day we encountered a problem on the ground at Giola Del Colle. Most of the aircraft on the ground at the airbase when taxiing onto the active for 16L or shortly after taxiing off the active the gear on our aircraft were instantly retracted and our aircraft we’re slammed into the ground. Several of the aircraft actually exploded after a short time due to still operating. When the pilot backed out to the lobby the aircraft now under the AI brought the gear back out and the aircraft was able to taxi as an AI and take off. anytime that same aircraft was reentered by a Human pilot the gear dropped back out and it hit the ground again. It looked as if the bird fell into a hole almost. A couple of the aircraft were able to be entered after the AI got airborne but at least my aircraft when I entered was completely shut down upon entering while airborne. The issue happened upon entering and exiting the active on or near taxiway B on the 16 end of the runway. After successfully landing my flight exited the runway and then shortly after turning down a parallel taxiway we experienced the issue. There may be something wrong with the Airbase itself as most but not all the planes at the base experienced the problem and we were forced to restart. We were able to taxi out and take off from the 34 end of the runway. All of this happened after a Ramp start also.

This problem was solved in first realease installing the fix. It happens only in Gioia del Cole. Problem is that with the new tiles you must not install the fix. Solution: Not use Gioia del Cole in next versions till problem is solved.

Hello There !
At the begginning I would like to express my gratitude and admiration for what have You (programmers I guess) done with Balkans theater. It is really awesome.
Of course all versions are great but at this very moment I am referring to Balkans 3.0Sadly I can’t enjoy of flying as much as I want to and here is why:
When I turn the Balkans 3.0 Theater and play simple TE:
1. I can not see the HUD
2. After about 2 minutes of flying, the sky goes dark
3. Sometimes Falcon is suddenly crashing
4. Always when I am trying to end mission, Falcon is crashingIf someone have got any thoughts about resolving my issues, please share those with me. I will be very thankful.

Mirage 2000 D pit 3Dmodel is the wrong one when Blkan installed on top of BMS 4.32U6 or U7. (checked with Buzzz)
3dmodel and related textures should be the one from Korean theater.I do not have checked other Mirage 2000’s pit, but should be the same.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, apologies if I’ve missed some other thread.
This theatre looks pretty amazing but sadly is unplayable on my machine. It’s not a brilliant machine but runs all the other campaigns I’ve tried quite well. The Israeli theatre sometimes causes a bit of an issue but nothing like this. I can literally not use this and would like to know if anyone else is having similar issues or if there’s something wrong with my install. It seems every time I get anywhere near an airbase (and at other seemingly random times) my harddrive goes bananas and the whole thing freezes for seconds at a time. By the time it responds again I’ve crashed into something. What’s it trying to load that’s so huge?
