FO - Battle For Balkans Theater

The fact that Modders claim for independant DB …… folders just shows that they dont agree with BMS’s Choices…
To be very honest with you. The stock data base, which is made to serve as an universal db is indeed - sorry to say - not well made, almost SP4 ancient.
There have been soo many improvements made within, we could talk a week just elaborating details and flaws and errors. Don´t underestimate the brains outside Mav-Jp. People can be smart. But even IF the stock db would be “perfect”, each single theater NEEDS its own database, because it is just part of the theater editing as much as tiles and tacedit edits, part of the adjustments required for specific scenarious etc etc. SIM-data files should be at best uniform and global…totally agree.
We as external devs look very closly what you guys do and i have been told the DEVs also look what we do, which is good if true.
My personal wish would be more communication and cooperation between eachother and not this distanced working, because im 100% sure, that both would benefit from that.Imo, the only true solution, because with the same goals, we are not enemies.

Wasn’t this the case that molny sent his stuff repeatedly, only to be ignored?

please dont flame, try to be on topic

Whats a SU-27 again?
pretty targets
EDIT: i meant no disrespect for those that worked on the su-27 it looks fantastic. I was just making jokes.

Actually, one could set up a fallback to standard DB for individual files. Then, AC would be able to be overridden without copying over the whole DB.
Why this evokes so much feeling and arrogance is beyond my understanding.

I suspect the passion emanates from the period, about 2005 though 2011, when our community was fractured into at least four competing and incompatible versions of Falcon 4. Nobody wants to go there again; hence the strong feelings about uniformity.

How is BfB 1.12 is a one-click installer? When I unzip it I get two files, an application and a SRC file. Clicking on either of them does not install BFB. What is the Process. I keep hearing how great this campaign is but no one has answered my question yet.

I’m pretty sure I just clicked on the exe and it installed everything. You unzipped the archive to your desktop? Is Falcon BMS4.32 on your root (usually C:)?

You have to extract the 2 files in the archive before executing the installer. (exe)

People need more solidarity among us. I think the seeding torrent Battle for Balkans. Many of you have downloaded installation files, and immediately stop seed now there are only three seeds. Why does not anyone stay and returns at least as far as took? (ratio 1, or few days)

some of his stuff are good, other are not…
the main problem with independant “modding” is that this is always 1 train late vs most recent code evolution…
-
make AF-like Aim120 C-4 and C-5 in core db and half work on weapon performance is done (then few SAM tweaks and u are almost finished)….

Almost afraid to write this but you never know… “One click installer” simply means you have to run a single file to install. You have to double-click the .exe file to install. Please don’t let this be the answer…

@mavjp
As you agreed, the main problem lies within the outdated SP4 alike database. First, it is cold war minded. You dont see armored battalions anymore parading in a battlefield. In other words, you dont see vast columns of steel marching towards the enemy. Its the exception nowadays. Moroever, even these are a huge mess in stock database. Weaponering is broken as well. Surface units -throughout those years of Falcon development- still have 100 hitpoints. These are just few examples.
Now, there are people in the community that fixed all those problems and made other vastly improvements. FO is one of them. The problem is that every time the BMS gives us an official update, then we have to manually update the outdated database again and again and again to make things look more realistic.
So, bottom line, it would be nice idea if the bms team -just like human evolution - encompasses those, already made, db updates and start building on them.

i agree but things must be done in complete cooperation , which means some 3rn Parties devs should also accept when “some” mods are not taken into account
