Israel Theater Release

If you have something to me, write a PM. I finished this conversation not because I’m out of arguments but because this topic is not a proper place to discuss such things…
What i have to say is that i am tired of this new age style where people like you come on forums and pretend they have a brain, they can think by themselves, they do not eat fastfood because there is 2% of something in the food that is politically non correct, and it does on forever. You people are boring to talk to and to listen to, always the same thing, you always come and give life lesson when actually you don’t know anything, you people pretend to know the truth behind the curtain that we mortal can not see, you are the light, you are the solution to all those unanswered questions.
Before you can even remotely pretend you will educate someone, please, go away and keep your education skills for your children or whoever wants to smoke weed with you. That really pisses me off, people who think they are so smart they can come here, drop BS and then politely insult someone’s intelligence and then say they won’t go deeper. Stop that. And no, i won,t waste time to PM you … so you can teach me how the world works? …… bla bla bla

Barabasz & Mower
We’ve banned two guys today … I don’t want more today.
But I don’t want to hear anything more about politics or jokes mixed with sarcasms.
So … I urge you guys to return on the topic
Now.
Thank you for your understanding.
EDIT: Spooky … same. Go PM together if you want to.

Is it likely that after switching from an Instan Action mission to training (TE) the sim would crash, or should I try to trace another culprit (a hardware failure, perhaps)?
This is a common Falcon issue. Like we said in ‘our’ FF sim topics back then: Whenever you switch from Dogfight or IA to TE or campaign, or basically any element to the other, back out the sim and restart game.
That is if you want to make sure.
Same applies for switching theatres to clear/ load the database. Which is a commonly known fact. -
OK, thank you. I knew about switching between theatres, but wasn’t sure about the different sim options. From now on I shall exit and restart.
-
Well excuse me if you are talking about it being a bumpy ride.
Was trying to lighten the mood. -
Last night i had something very strange happening. I used Mission Commander to place MLU’s squadrons in crete, Akrotiri AB. I tasked myself two Norwegian MLU’s to strike an ammunition depot just at the outskirts of Damascus. I took the flight of 2 Belgian MLU’s to escort them. Before taking off, there were reports in the UI that Damascus has been taken by IDF, and a couple of minutes later it was retaken by Syrian forces. By the time i took off, the intel was still with Syrian Forces controlling Damascus.
I hit Ramp Start, do all my Coumbaya, and when i take off, the Norwegian MLU’s 3 minutes behind me, start to behave strangely. First the Leader starts rolling down the runway, full AB, and at the last moment he makes a sharp 180 on the runway and goes in the grass, goes back to the beginning of the runway and does the same number again, over and over.
Eventually he manages to take off, and by the time i hit the Tanker he calls for fuel …good. Mission is a go apparently (if he wasn’t going to come, i was planning to switch over to a BARCAp mission, was alternative mission).
Now the refuelling is done, i am waiting for the strike flight to finish refuelling. Okay they are done, let’s go to the push point. Everything is fine, and approximately 40 Nm from the TGT, they turn around, back to Akrotiri.
No idea what happened there, this is a recurrent problem, where every time i make the AI refuel, whether it is members of my flight (wingmen) or package, at 40 to 50 Nm from the TGT they RTB. When the Wingmen do that … it is even more disturbing. Always when we are tasked to do a strike mission, it never fails … it,s been 3 times in a row now. I have the same issue with the Korean theater, as soon as refuelling is scheduled AI goes crazy.
If i do not schedule refuelling, they are fine.
I have no idea what went wrong … my only guess is that since i assign my own targets, there my be a conflict with the code in the sim ? When i went back to base and checked in the debrief, i saw that the target was very well still syrian and that Damascus was not captured. BUT, this was the only target around Damascus that had been not targeted by IDF … so i wonder if the campaign engine did not want that target to be destroyed ? and by me assigning it to an AI flight i triggered something in their behaviour?
No clue? does anyone else have that issue?
-
Spooky,
Your saved campaign file would be extremely helpful here, can you upload it?Damascus being captured by the IDF and recaptured by the Syrians in a short time is normal during the fighting, after a while (1-2 hours) it calms down - either IDF withdraws or the Syrians withdraw and the IDF keeps troops there to defend it.
AI logic is generally identical to Korea because it is code based, unless it’s something related to the data, and in the theater such AI-affecting data is mostly stock BMS. In the case of RTBing after refueling, if the same happens in Korea it’s probably a BMS general issue. Did you try to fly this specific mission without refueling, to see if indeed it is related to that target? There aren’t any ‘safe’ targets that I’m aware of (we ran the campaign many times in testing and online).
About Akrotiri, which runway was it, 11 or 29? What was the weather? I’m testing MLU takeoff from there right now it seems OK. again your campaign file would be helpful.
I assume you also added a tanker squadron? Which type and where?
BTW Akrotiri is in Cyprus, not Crete
-
i ashamed of my geographic mistake …… thanks for correcting me.
Yes, i can give you my campaign files.
I did not try it without refuelling because of the distance to the target, it would be too short if i end up in a BVR fight, or worst a WVR fight. The runway was the 11, and i think this is a BMS issue rather than a Israel related one. The Tanker was a KC-10, that i placed at Akrotiri too, will upload the files for you ah, the Weather was Sunny.
-
OK, waiting for the files.
I re read what you wrote about the AI taxiing in circles and it could be because the AI missed point data. This can happen in a very low frame rate or because of hiccups, for example when cycling views between far aircraft and the display freezes while the sim loads data (that’s why it’s better to cycle views while paused at first). Did you experience any of these?
-
Can you send me an e-mail adress where i can send those files to ?
No hiccups, and actually this is the smoothest israel theater version i ever flew, before 0.99 i had a lot of lags, all gone, i was impressed, considering the amount of airplanes in reduced airspace, adding explosions to it. But when i switch views, yes there is a delay where you can see the lag happening, thatmay be it then …you think that that lag screws up AI brain for the rest of the flight?

Not for the entire flight but definitely while it’s on the ground. When they miss a taxi / takeoff point because of a stutter they will try to reach it again, sometimes in weird ways. So it’s best to cycle views when you are paused.
-
copy that
-
Thanks to all who worked on this. And a happy new year, too!
-
OK Spooky it seems fine here with your file. I fragged a package of 4 ship NO-MLU to strike the Damascus ammunition depot escorted by a 4 ship 3 minutes behind them, and they all took off from Akrotiri. So it was probably because the AI missed a taxi point.
BTW I noticed you placed too many squadrons at Akrotiri, there shouldn’t be more than 3 squadron per airbase (two is better) to avoid traffic problems.
-
ok sounds good.
Ah, for the squadrons, i always do that, but at any time, the maximum takeoffs that are taking place is 6. I always bring a bunch of squadrons and plan 2 or 3 sorties a day. But yeah, will follow your advice :), thanks again for your time
-
Thanks for the impressive work guys! seeding the torrent

So I have now flown about a dozen campaign missions as the IADF and it is NOT too easy. 50% of my missions I got shot down by ground and air threats.

Yeah the Syrian air defenses are quite capable early on (BTW they outnumber Israeli air defence 4:1) with mobile SA-8, SA-11 and SA-6 in addition older systems and AAA. The locations of the fixed sams (SA-2, SA-5) are known and they are taken out early but the mobile systems can be a headache for intel and to attack as well. In addition the scrambles work and you can get intercepted.

I would say, you will get intercepted when ever Syria has some plane available. Great job 108vfs´s.
