Worst AI Incident EVER
-
First off, I would have gone around and made another circuit, this is what it’s done irl for obvious security reasons
Second, when flying solo, I use ATC and follow their instructions
As I said, there was no time to abort landing. I didn’t know he was there until the last instant. Otherwise I would have gone around.
-
The most important commands you have ever been given regarding AI wingmen at the moment. Wingman/Element Return To Base. Seriously.
My other serious pet peeve is horrific ATC performance. I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve been cleared to land and I’m on 1-2 mile final to have that idiot ATC clear a pair of A-10s to take off. I refuse to give it up at that point so I just land on the opposite side of their #1 taking off so we have a F-16 and an A-10 doing a high speed taxi at the same runway at the same time.
Today the ATC AI was just being plain lazy as ANYONE that called him/her got told to orbit for spacing even though there were no aircraft taking off or landing. Cue in ignore stupid ATC AI and land anyways.
-
You should keep track of your wingees (human or AI) at all times with the HSD. Usually I just follow a AI to the numbers….boink ATC.
-
i just ignore the ATC generally. otherwise i’d just be orbiting for hours while he tells me "orbit for spacing. cleared in runway ## abort approach etc etc over and over. if the runway’s clear i just touch down.
-
It is really uncanny how real life footage looks exactly like in-game.
yeah. even the plane’s behavior. i can basically guarantee that if you pulled that weird yaw nose up thing he did when he started swearing, you would hear that exact same tone at the exact same moment.

Strange. I usually get clearance rather quickly and almost never had big troubles with AI ATC… even in campaign

The strangest AI moment i’ve had was while playing on the KTO Strong DPRK Theatre.
I was returning from an intercept mission, destroyed all my targets and all i had left was guns. AWACS told me to go and attack a SU-30. As all i had was guns, i managed to get behind him, he noticed and started to manoeuvre. After a few minutes of fighting to get the gun sight on target, I managed to shoot him down.
Now here is the strange thing, about 5 seconds after he exploded in front of me, i was shot down by a heatseaker (my wing man said “Archer inbound” before impact). Strangely enough, there was not a single enemy aircraft around me at all, the one i shot down was alone.
Also I was over friendly territory so it wasn’t ground fire.
I did use the snap to enemy view (I know it’s cheating a little) before i engaged the SU-30, and he was the only one.
-
did you look at the event log? it will probably say in the last 5 entries if there really was a missile “SU-30 fired AA-11 at ######” or whatever. if it didn’t, then that really is a puzzle.

It did show in the event page, but the weird thing was that, throughout the entire dogfight, the SU-30 never had an angle on me to lock on let alone fire one. And i didn’t see a smoke trial from him either. Maybe it was some ghost SU-30

magical russian radar stealth in action. the source of those “nearest bandit, 40 miles” when the enemy is right on top of you. constant radar delocking even when you’re close. source of DFM “LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK LOCK” problems. death of many a falconer.
they should’ve sent an exorcist up in the plane :3

Could be worse. My buddy and I were flying a campaign mission and we got 23 and 29 nails. We called vector to threat to be told there were no enemies around. Wingman got shot down and I am totally defensive now in a turning fight with a single 29 and a pair of 23s. Call for vector to threat? Two guesses as to the call I got back and the first one doesn’t count.
Also no we were not clear up by China or Russia to be outside of AWACS coverage. We were just south west of Wonsan AB.

Noop…
Worse AI incident EVER was years ago!
Every time I try to get out… BOOM… they drag me back in…
I believe that I posted that incident back in 2003.
The Frugalsworld thread is long gone. The embarrassment lives on eternal.
Thanks, Neptune.

Same Thing happend to just last night slapped on the air brakes slowed down enough to let him land then I landed right behind him I haven’t even got to the end of the runway
and the tower tells me to clear the runway I put that dude on report -
I agree AIs are somtimes very stupid in BMS. But it’s still million times better than IL-2’s AI. In Il-2 AI can defy gravity and do alien tricks. That’s what a truly failed AI modelling looks like.
You mean those super-uber-attacking planes pulling a whopping 10-15G to defeat you? Yep, that’s why I stopped with that sim
But I do have a tape somewhere from a MiG-25 in BMS pulling >14G during a guns jink. Their roll rate is also impressive, it’s close to that of an X-Wing. It’s not a roll rate, it’s just an instant change of bank level. The pilot must have bumped his head on the canopy. But only in a guns jink. They never pull that off until you engage them with a gun. The Su-25 can be a pain in the *ss too.
Or that KC-135 which is flown by some degraded eagle pilots once everyone is topped off. Better get some distance.
But after all, it’s pretty good and worlds apart from what I have seen in IL-2.
As for the original topic… You mean this?

Definetely this is not the worst, i was in a dogfight with a Mig-29, i requested Help!!! one F-22 was coming for me, yeah a Raptor is coming to save me but it was bad, the F-22 shot me 2 AMRAAMS, maybe because i was too close from Mig, but my savior killed me man…

LOL, must have been clamped with:
-I will not harm you.
-Dont get in harms way.
-Ill keep you out of harms way.
-that wont harm you
etc etcOnT, maybe the awacs was way South when the call was made and the bandits was out of its range? either way i like it when things arent 100% as it gives the flight more dynamic enviroment. That means you need to work to get back home

Bad luck for sure.
But maybe in your 3rd try you should continue your landing. The aircraft on hold short at your right i think that should need some time to get off, i mean you may had time to touch down and keep your jet away of the RWY centerline…

When AI are behind you, always fly 185 KT approach until a few miles. Just accept it as local SOP.
-
I come in hot every time, and with “emergency clearance” to boot. The only way I can land with decent AC separation these days….then hit ESC and E before I slide off the runway.
Good day!
