Tried the ramp start tutorial…...
-
and couldn’t find the Missile CW switch in the audio 1 section.
The tutorial tells me to switch that but I couldn’t see it anywhere in that audio 1 area.
Also alot of the caution lights on the right aren’t working when they are supposed to be lit.An exercise in frustration.

try to follow this
-
Thank you but I would love a hands on tutorial in the pit.
I can watch this alot and still forget but if I just did that BMS tutorial 5 times a day,I reckon I would be able to memorise it.
Is the tutorial broken in BMS?
OK ,LOL I found that dam button by looking at this thank you. Will take a month I reckon of 5 times a day to learn the ramp start lol.
-
print out Red Dogs checklist and have it by you when you start the jet.
then after a month, keep it with you on the bus etc and try to memorise it.
Once you have it word for word, start doing your ramps without the checklist.
-
Or use it ever and never start to learn it by heart like me
-
Print the checklist and do at least 5 ramps per day… you will learn it by heart within a week
-
Alot of buttons are hidden behind the pilot’s legs…
I couldn’t find the radar helmet light CW switch?I have a serious headache just from trying this.

Describe a little bit more. Not sure what you are referring to.

The tutorial tells you to check that warning lights are on but I didn’t see anything lit probably because the pilots legs are covering the left side of the warning light console.
Alot of switches are covered on the left side as well.
I couldn’t finish the ramp start because a button was not there that I needed to press.I just want to fly man not play CIV 5 with all this strategy and management stuff.
-
The radar helmet light. That is a new one on me.
The button to adjust the brightness of the helmet hud not the symbology dial that controls the brightness of the main hud galss.
LOL this sim is so bloody anal.:D
Poor pilots that have to learn all this stuff.
Really respect em.
P.S. I reckon thre is ONE WAY of trying to learn this!
Do as the Airforce,Army ,Navy do!
Get into the bloody gym and train HARD.
Then my mind will be fresh!I’m going to do that.
This sim needs a relaxed mind.

That is harder than the onscreen tutorial LOL.
Alot of the symbology I don’t know so what it says on the checklist will mean something different to me.
I have enough paper everywhere now with profiles.
i need two more pairs of arms.
And 3 more PCs to run all the tutorial stuff on lol.
Oh ,and Zappa’s brain would come in handy!
-
I have the WDP mod with the pilot’s legs installed.
So I can have that or chop off my poor pilot’s legs so I can see more of the cockpit panels inside.
Hmm legless pilot or brainless fight?
P.S. Now that would be a great mod.
A button to turn off/on the pilots legs in an instant.

I had some trouble with the timing/instructions in the BMS tutorial as well. Here’s what I did:
- Used Red Dog’s start check list
- Used YouTube 72nd VFW ramp start video.
From those I made note cards with the step-by-step I needed to follow to ramp start, including any keypress (keyfile) short-cuts needed.
Eventually, I optimized those in accordance with what BMS requires.
After a fairly short period, I had memorized the various functions/commands/steps to ramp start.
It took me about 3 iterations to nail down the initial note cards that were effectively ‘my check list’.
-
Three times for a brainy bloke.
That means 300 times for me.
Sobs in the corner. :wfish:P.S. I have to get rid of the pilot’s legs to ramp start then I need his legs back again once I get in the air.:D

….No, no, no. I think you mis-understand.
I had to start over on making my personal check list at least 3 times.
It took additional repitions to memorize my check list. On the other hand, the purpose of a check list is to USE it, not memorize it.
YOU don’t have to memorize anything. You just have to write the steps down in a way that makes sense to you.
-
Well it’s pointless now because of the pilot’s legs problem.
Have to get the steering wheel out lads.
BMS gives me massive anxiety.
That’s my problem not BMS’s .I just get major anxiety and depression when trying to figure this sim out.
Iracing I can go around the track and move and it wrings the anxiety out of the system.
TY for all your help.
I am not good enough up top to EVER learn this.
Iracing you can GET it by just lapping around and around and soon you get the hang of it but this sim requires a fully tuned brain.
Even Ace Combat gives me anxiety on Steam lol.
-
Well I have the in cockpit checklist printed and to my surprise ,it is way easier to understand than the one I remember from years ago.
-
Glad to hear your not giving up yet!

Just a suggestion go without the pilot legs mod off the bat until you are more comfortable with the aircraft. If you have TrackIR or FreeTrack you can bend your head around to see other switches etc. If not I would skip the legs mod until you get some kind of head tracking hooked up.
