IFF?

Sorry, disagree, those methods are too time consuming. Especially when Guard gets busy which it ALWAYS does online.
Online fliers will understand.
DJ tries to educate the community about how IFF is used in real operations
He is not interested into gaming

Well, if implemented correctly, those other methods will still be of more use to you. People already screw up their data cartridge and whatnot flying online, adding IFF in any way that requires pilot interaction will result in friendlies which are SPADES.
-
… Maybe, but this is just how it works in the real life.
If implemented and used realistically, IFF will not be the magic tool of you dreams.
Online, the main problem is radio discipline… Even sometimes in real. This is a fact.
Dont agree with you much but this is great, I couldn’t agree more

Incompetent FBMS Drivers are another matter entirely.

So competent FBMS drivers should be able to sort their radar contacts without IFF…

No, its the same. IFF IRL is not 100% useful because its not 100% reliable, and there exist aircraft other than combatants. In BMS with combatants only, and virtually no ROEs (BANDIT and HOSTILE are the same thing in BMS), and no failures - well IFF would be perfect. Either its friendly or unknown - if its unknown, shoot it down.
I reckon about 10% of the time, AIs should have incorrect IFF codes, just to mess things up, if it were implemented.

You can also soft lock the target and get a visual ID with the TGP at about 20nm.
Ha - in the weather I fly in it’s more like 6nm.
-
thx guys sorry my fault i didn’t search IFF in forums
But then what does IFF means?I know its identify friend or foe.But what does it actually means? -
Tried the wikipedia page with the same name?
-
What I do is I lock a contact up on the radar If they say buddy spike (flight name) there are friendly if no response AWACS declare or wing-man attack my target!
-
That does work but now he knows you are there where as he may not have before. That applies to human pilots, I’m pretty sure the AI knows where you are instantly. Also, the TGP is pretty good for visual ID especially in a WVR type theaters.
-
Go for VID. The only sure way to know. Even in real life
-
I’ll be back at page 10.
-
IRL IFF is a must: “No IFF, no player” but I can live without it
-
I’ll be back at page 10.
That IS the best answer on this (these, 4th thread) subject!
I too WILL come back in p10!!!
pop/corn mode -ON.

I check my debriefing, that usually but not always is reliable.
( Allthough yesterday I stole two F-4s, one F-18 and a Tanker from my buddy. )
