my headache problem is, i build a new DB with 3ddb builder(it working in sim, no CTD), BUT i cannot extract it with 3ddb builder. Raptor said he built emf DB for many times and no problem to extract it - i rushed to check emf and extract that db successfully.
i really wonder what’s going wrong on my end - and i found my bad DB- KoreaObj.TEX file is 0k file size, but other good DBs are 1k. When i build DB, i did not place NEW dds texture in TEXTURE folder, instead i placed them in KoreaObj folder directly…could it be the reason that my DB cannot be extracted?
EDIT- i do a test, place new texture in textures folder, do rebuild DB > result is the same, koreaObj.TEX becames 0k size, and unable to be extracted again.
Alright… case solved. found the important thing in 3ddb builder pdf… ough!

Correct, but currently all Janhas models appear as ***, but they work fine within BMS.

meh… although .TEX file should be optional by now?, … I’ve read that somewhere in the forum , think Mav-JP said., but obviously, in your case isn’t …
I’ve successfully extracted db from another user which didn’t do .TEX ‘by the book’ … BUT, .TEX was present , just not correct,… eg. he put 9000-ish bmp , but he was using dds textures down the 10026 or so, and it still worked, … I mean extraction …
So, if you want to experiment a bit , try putting ‘whatever xxxx’.bmp when rebuilding the .LOD db , OR copy ‘ANY’.TEX file to your db without one…, see if it will extract then… , compare the output logs… report ?Cheers

bmp file can uses any bigger number when you rebuild the DB, bear in mind that number will be added to KoreaObj.TEX and KoreaObj.HDR files. HDR file is theater-specific, so you can not use a different koreaobj.TEX and extract the DB - i’ve done the test and failed.
if you forget to place a bmp in TEXTURES folder, once DB rebuild done, koreaobj.TEX will be 0k size, and no texture id added to koreaobj.HDR file… in this case you won’t be able to extract DB.

Great, Thanks for the info. It’s not the problem to follow the procedure so be it.
Clearly, .TEX is obsolete because of /textures/*.dds , but db internals still needs “last indices” (in lodedit) in db index , so you could be using some modified .TEX with last texture number eg 12000… that would just mean that your db index support textures down to that number… (lodedit would report that in ‘unused textures’ … if it wouldn’t crash )
…but it shouldn’t be a problem to use that same .TEX(12000) in db where the last texture is 9999.dds … me thinks…
it would mean,… if you were adding a new model with textures via lodedit (or maybe even with 3ddbeditor) that first new available free texture number/slot would be 12001 (as 0 - 12000 be marked as used) … of course increasing .TEX index by +1Now what comes to mind is *How 3ddb_editor reflects those changes with [/update] command , … does it increase .TEX index file if you were ALSO adding new textures with your update model … - if it has new set of textures above your .TEX index limit … (in that update.lod file) – eg … you last texture is 9600 … but update model uses 9900 - 9920(.dds) , …
So, does 3ddb_editor UPDATES also .TEX file with 9920 value with [/update] command ?? (/build does it from scratch so it works)
… needs experiment I guess … but it should be like this.,. or it wouldn’t be right. !!!IF db was that ‘dependable’ on the .TEX file

I know this is not directly a 3D DB editing question but still tied to Falcon BMS DB editing as eventually will lead to 3D editing (hopefully as trying to add super sonic cruise missile). How can I control the speed or basically increase the speed of a projectile that is fired, in this case say a cruise missile I am firing so want to have it accelerate to Mach 2 or more if possible rather than flying at a speed of 550 km/hr to the target. Is it the Bullet Speed ft/s or bullet TTL (s) or combination of the both. I played around with the values but no real luck. Thanks!

Hi guys, i’m trying to extract database of polar vortex theatre (koreaobj.lod is 2.12 GB) but when i try 3ddb_builder /extract nothing happens console just writes extracting but nothing is extracting and after command is done (5 min) there is nothing extracted. Same thing happens with other theatres. Have u seen this anyone ? thx for answers.
