Theater for a fair fight
-
Hi all, i’ve been looking for a theater to fly as red but having difficulty finding one that gives them much of a chance (resupply and flight fragging quantity are usually the problems).
I wonder if there are any, in all my time with Falcon i’ve been irritated by the perhaps too realistic environment of thousands of amraams versus twelve MiG15’s and an irate farmer.
Thanks for any help.

Try the Nordic campaign and prepare for getting your behind waxed.

I think it’s not his point
I’d propose you Baba Yaga, difficult version (for blue) but I never really tried though.

Hi Lorik ! i love your Baba Yaga and Yinyang. They are both wonderful but base on regular KTO or BTO. We feel those two theaters a little boring:D. Can someday make a campaign like Baba Yaga base on IKAROS theater? IKAROS theater is beautiful and meticulous suitable for some anti-ships missions. Thanks! we are looking forward it!

Thank you Joker! I had already thought about it, to be honest. If Ikaros team is ok with it, and when .34 is out, I’ll probably come to make campaigns in other stable theaters, including Ikaros indeed.

It’s a simple matter to tweak things to your liking if you don’t mind adding a new line to the falconbms.cfg file.
BMS uses a different style of Challenge Rating. You can change how it works by adding the following line to the falconbms.cfg
set g_bNewChallengeRatingCode 0
I put it under the Misc section, but it may not matter where you place it. Adding this line means that challenge rating will affect force ratios. So you can set your campaigns up to have an advantage, a disadvantage or more or less even, depending on the campaign, just by changing the sliders.
A caveat…. I have not done this and then flown for the Reds, but I suspect it works both ways.

Try Aegean Anatolian Hammer, it can be flown as BLUE or RED.

Hey Dog again,
Though I agree with most of DBONDS reply, except altering the .cfg file, unless you REALLY know what you are doing.
As well, I have not condoned the use of the Force Sliders in Falcon (Any Version) over the years due to the reason that the Units are not set up correctly in the DBase.
(Not even AF, but you maybe can overcome that with Falcas Mission Commander Tool which I HIGHLY recommend).
Falcon debuted and was sold mostly in the NATO world and for that matter this is why you are “Joe Pilot” for the BLUE Team in the Scenarios that you enter in game i.e. Instant Action Dog Fight…etc.
You could try joining the RED side in "Iron Fortress, Buttress, Fthis or whatever it’s called now in stock BMS and grab a seat in the MiG29. Those Squads seem to be the most set up in the DBase. But that Scenario is mostly, loosely based on GU movement to achieve a Campaign win. Good Luck!!!All that being stated, DerStef and I had a highly refined, equalized (for Red side) and steady DBase ready to go some year’s ago that was refused by the developers I was working for at the time…he lost his seat on the table over it…what a fuking shame…sigh.
Have FUN,

Hey Demer!
Well i’ve been editing the Israeli theater with Mission Commander (wow what a beauty that is!) and im pretty damn happy with the results;
As long as a side is resupplied ( Specifically, aircraft being Replaced) they are still viable, and that’s what im getting with my edits, now am i editing safely? Well that remains to be seen.
What i have done is use the tri file events to control the campaign, checking for force disparities and supply issues, issuing min supply calls to then bolster a team.
Now the air war is quite intense, it’s working nicely.
I’ve got to do an air lift test, remove all the air lift squads and run it see what happens.I think i remember DerStef saying he was working on red air ages ago, must have been FF? Are all the FF folks here now?
Cheers

Yes, you are Editing safely with MC, the tool is still being refined by Falcas. Though he and I had many a PM when he first started, some of them not so sweet….LOL!
It is working well for BMS now. As far as Events I believe you can edit those as well in MC. I thought I saw that in the last version he sent me, although that may not be the current public version.
The .tri files and the rest of the externalized data should go away IMHO and be embedded in the code correctly. Yes, a lot of work for the coders but I’m sure they realize that they were introduced by Gilman and crew to get the product out the door. In my experience (Umm lets see, 46 years from Fortran to C++…and BASIC was the best thing to happen during that time IMO, hell even a kid could code with it…LOL), any time you externalize data you end up with a compromise. When dealing with Falcon you need to learn to adjust to the compromise.Have FUN,
