Sending Mark points issue?!?
-
Hello, guys! Yesterday, I tried sending markpoints to my wingmen (multiplayer), but it didn’t work out…
Procedure: created a markpoint, hit zero on the ICP, CZ, HSD SOI and coms switch right *XMT (pagedown). I told them to check steerpoint 71 and they found nothing there (they can see the blue mark on their HSD and FCR)… I did it twice and before yesterday as well. What could possibly be happening? Balkans Theater, Block 50/42
thanks
Datalink was functioning perfectly! NO CS connections!!!

What exactly were you markpointing?
-
Ground targets!! They were not moving!!
-
-
Affirmative!! Human wingmen!!!
They were able to see the blue markpoint on their HSD and FCR, but steerpoints 71+ were “blank”…
Tried yesterday and before yesterday and the same issue happened!!! -

I don’t think so… But could it influence the coordinates sent via datalink on steerpoints 71+?
Let me be more specific: my wingmen weren’t able to see the coordinates on steerpoints reserved for markpoints 71-80. They could see the marks i created on their FCR and HSD, but not the coordinates.
I used to do it a lot on 4.33 and always worked out!!! -
Do they receive a MKPT 71 message on their HUD?
-
They receive a “DATA” sound message and the same on their HUD.
-
Then it’s probably going to their FCR, not in the STPT list.

Select the MARKPOINT you created as your active STPT. Then, set SOI to HSD. Then, COMM switch RIGHT to transmit the MARKPOINT to your flight members.
For further explanation, please see BMS/Docs/02 F-16 Checklists/Avionic Checklists.pdf (pp. 12, Air-to-Ground Datalink).

I did it… I’ve been doing it since 4.33.
Lorik, the markpoint you create becomes a “steerpoint” (blue cross) as referred in the manual- steerpoint 71 to 80 and it also appear in your FCR and HSD.

If you send temporary SPI or steerpoint over DL depends on which format is SOI.
HSD SOI -> send steerpoint (permanent)
FCR SOI -> send SPI (temporary) -

That’s what I’m trying!!! I’m trying it again tonight!! -

Can you confirm your wingies are NOT seeing:
CURSOR DATA in their HUD?
-
Then it’s probably going to their FCR, not in the STPT list.
Correct …. he’s just sending FCR cursor data, not a markpoint.
…. They could see the marks i created on their FCR …
Not a mark point.
Based on this, either the markpoint hasn’t been created correctly, or the markpoint is not the current steerpoint before sending.

It doesn’t make any difference “mark point.” Permanent datalink location sharing is your current steerpoint. If that steerpoint is a mark point or flight plan waypoint or bullseye makes no difference. Make sure the mark point has been created and set as steerpoint.
There is also the chance that you and receiver aren’t on same radio. Remember AG DL defaults to VHF for transmission. If you are different flights also ensure DL member addresses are correct. Maybe you want to try direct AD sharing “11” to “12” instead of broadcast “10”
