Air Mobile working well in 4.34
-
Sorry for the delay in getting the video posted. I got on it ASAP.
Just started watching the video, and I would like to post it before I forgot
You did mentioned how could you take control over the ground units. This was true before 4.34, but now itās enough if you simply double click on the unit icons on the map. It will give you the control immediately. No need to open them separately and uncheck the checkbox or use the OOB list.
Hope it will save some tedious clicking next time -

If you check my previous posts I was I think the 1st to report that ground units could be controlled again once 4.33 was released.

Awesome! I didnāt know that this is possibleā¦ :woohoo: Thanks a lot for sharing your experience and doing that great video :thumb:

Great stuff. Just watched your video and found it to be a great help.
Many thanks.
-
great job. just do the test and it works!! big thanks!
PS - i do a helicopter airmobile test : select an infantry unit and add package-UH60, it generates an airdrop waypoint, move that point to desired location, done > the infantry unit can be airmobilized easily to a new location.

Thanks for reporting your successful test, hope others will do the same.

Hope it will save some tedious clicking next timeI cannot do what you said, clicking twice on a ground unit only works with the first one, and cannot repeat it with others that way.- Perhaps I am missing some thing.
The only diference I noticed at 4.34 is that now units with HQ unchecked have a white square around it instead of the black one.- -
Cantoo - for reassigning the Patriots to defend the new base, did you drag the waypoint from their original location up to the new base or is there a simpler way I missed? Thatās how I did it, but just curious if I missed something. Thanks, I also moved a bunch of ground units that were just sitting around too, saw them take a bridge, very cool! I also noticed what was said by VO101_Tom earlier, just click on the unit and you have control!

The video is very comprehensive and should not leave anything uncovered for moving units from one airbase to another. I know of no other way to accomplish the same goal.
As far as taking control of ground units there is more than one way to do so, regardless of how you take control you must reset the orders for the unit once they arrive after being air mobiled to your intended destination or they are going to start marching right back to their pick up point.

The only I know is right click over the unit, open status, and then uncheck set by HQ, unfortunately It only can be done one by one.- Cannot found any other way, and I would be happy to know if there is other.-
Thanks -

Just double clicking alone does not take control.
The other ways I already knew, right clicking on the battalion on the map, select status, then unhilight the set by HQ box or by opening OOB expand out the ARMY section and go methodically down the list of divisions and expand them out and and from the list you can right click on a battalion and unhilight the HQ boxes there, all from a list view and not the 2D map. Anyway you do it you are going to have to do a lot of clicking if you want to control everything.

Thatās for sure! Cantoo, your video is fantastic, thanks again for taking the time to make it as it brings awareness of capabilities in 4.34 many were not (me!) aware of! My only question comes from the 31:15 point in the video when the white waypoint circle was over the Patriot battery. When I clicked on it it showed the waypoint track all the way back to Pusan and I dragged and dropped it (from Pusan) back up on the battery at Hwangju and all was well, the Orders had changed properly. My question, is that what you did (and it wasnāt in the video) or did you just double clik the battery, or something else? Thanks again!

if you drag your drop zone so far behind the FLOT, the unit you air-mobilized will surrender. So be careful !

Makes sense, doesnāt work well in RL, shouldnāt here!

Not sure if you were referring to me or just making a general statement but in the video I never dragged the drop zone beyond the FLOT, The air mobile was from one friendly AB to another. I never have tested it but I doubt a fixed-wing air mobile flight would land at a hostile AB. Maybe you could test this and find out for us Joker_duke.

All I did was just to double click on the AD battalion, after getting the flight plan lines cleared away, to bring up the white circle over that battalion so I could drag the white circle off a slight distance and place it back over that battalion so I could check their status that the orders had changed for them to defend the AB at Hwangju. I never cut corners, best to confirm than assume. What you describe is the part that I didnāt show in the video that I say I was sorry I didnāt show.

Yeah i have tested it in 433. if a single unit operate far behind the FLOT, it will surrender to enemy later.
I think BMS dynamic campaign is still a traditional linear battle field. it doesnāt allow ground units operate too far behind from its FLOT. Thatās point we should notice.
ā¦
i hope someday it will fix that problem and make Air Mobile operations more meaningful . Thanks! -

As I understand it you just drop (air mobile) a unit behind enemy lineā¦ Itās logical to surrender if itās by itās self.
What about if you send support units, airdefence and maybe task some flights or a squadron to protect them? like A-10ās and F-16ās regularly?
I donāt know if the HQ will add them to their algorithm and do it (probably not , and itās logical, itās a suicide mission and not good to kill more pones for such a mission) but what if you do it manually? -

Actually, I didnāt send them so far behind those normal units near the FLOT(Suez Canal). the drop zone is about 20 NM south west away from the Suez Canal. They surrender to enemy about 20 minutes after air drop. that doesnāt make sense because nearest enemy units were not so close to them.
-
20 minutes are too much in such scenario.
If u provided air support and mechs and additional ground support defense units in the meantime I believe they would last way longer. In real you only send special forces like commandos or Navy seals for damaging that can pass undetected and return safely back. We donāt have those in BMS.
