4.35 U3 Rants, feedback, comments
-
Hi, Seifer,
One week into the new Forum and a few days into U3, and all is well. We were talking in our MP group last night, and have noticed…- +1 to Lorik’s comment-Colors seem “crisper”.
- Bandit’s behavior seem different, in a good way. More “aggressive” and as one MP Bud says “harder to kill”
- My MP Group had been doing a TE series based on U2 files. Last night we started one based on U3. It looks like the issue of AWACS not communicating with wingman if host gets shot down has been solved.
As for the new Forum…I will admit I approached it with some trepidation. It’s a big change. However, I’ve now become very comfortable with it. For example, the way images get attached.

Nice

You can thank MavJP for that. In MP, enemies now actually try to evade missiles.

More kudos to MavJP!

Yeah, took me a while as well. But once I learned to manage the notifications, it is incredibly practical. Thanks Max for that

I did not react to the U3 announcement here on this forum mainly because there was not a lot of interest to me in the release notes.
U2 was definitely of interest to many of us due to the CTDs being experienced with U1, so we were hanging on the U2 news/release eagerly.
U2 itself was nice and stable so there was not necessarily the same anticipation for U3.
A couple of the recent comments I have read here are about the graphics feeling better (clearer, sharper, more vibrant) and the enemy aircraft AI being better. I don’t recall seeing anything to suggest this in the changelog? I realise that a lot of work goes into each update, but perhaps a comprehensive changelog could be included? That might generate a bit more excitement.
In general though, I would expect that each major release (4.36 next) will generate the most excitement, and then generate the most frustration because (I would expect) major releases to have more bugs, which then get fixed in U1, U2 etc with diminishing returns (and therefore interest) each time.

- AI now evades missiles in MP.
- Improved sky fog computation, ambient color values, terrain fog distance.
- New sunrises and sunsets.
-
I feel that one thing we’ll have to take note as well is that the switch to the new forum is nearly concurrent with the release of U3.
For me, I didn’t react to the new release because I am still getting used to the new forum format. Although the layout is more mpdern and more features are available, I personally find that the forum arrangements are a bit more messy compared to the past, and did not notice the new release until it was posted on Reddit. It is certainly something that need time to get used to.
The new release was still awesome though, and a big thank you for the BMS team for the awesome product!

@lorikeolmin also lots of CTDs present in U2 are now fixed in U3 (in fact U3 should be the most stable version of the 4.35 version)

I think AI su-27 's BVR tactics is much greater than before .
their ability to evade AIM-120 is also greater, But it’s too great. I shot a -SU27 at 10NM, he can still evade my missile.
a little unreasonable. -
@bad-boy I was just replying about the parts of changelog that are relevant to his post and supposedly not mentioned.
-
@suhkoi69 about your feature, you can try to request it on nodebb github… If there are mainy voters on the feature, they might consider it…

a little unreasonable.Just for your information they just pump when they have the M spike on rwr like a player would do.
So it all depends on your firing parameters and their original speed

One thing is definitively true we are absolutely shit in marketing
I will give you an example of our changelog
- « rework AHR seeker acquisition »
Changelog DCS style
-« New DCS Amraam
[2:11 AM]
The AIM-120 AMRAAM has received a separate INS (Inertial Navigation System) unit with datalink support. The INS will steer the missile to the predicted target intercept point using targeting data received from the weapon control system at launch. This will dramatically increase missile effectiveness against non-maneuvering targets when the missile has no guidance prior to its seeker taking over the intercept. The aircraft weapon control system will also send INS messages via data link that updates target position and velocity to account for target maneuvers. The missile seeker model has been completely revised. The radar dish now uses a realistic gyro stabilised gimbal that is controlled by the INS before target lock. An active missile seeker, like in the AIM-120, will have its detection and tracking lock range based on physical calculations of noise and target signal ratio (which in turn depends on target RCS or ECM power and range). Target search and tracking is based on doppler velocity filtering (introduced realistic velocity gate), and the radar will search for target near the target reference velocity provided by the INS.
The guidance law was also updated. Missile seekers have received Kalman filters that estimate target motion parameters. The new guidance law accounts for target normal to LOS accelerations, possible target G-load growth rate, compensated missile x-axis acceleration, and missile control system latency »
I agree that does not look the same , they can say Uber shutting things but it looks nice ROFLMAO
On the other side . If we document our changelogs like this , that would be a whole novel at each release

@mav-jp @JOKER_duke That would even be too kind, more than one player would even pump before, based on TGP info or risk assessment. You’ll get used to deal with them soon I suppose.
-
@mav-jp So, the ability of AIM-120 or R-77 itself is the same as before? Only the AI’s BVR tactics is enhanced ? Thanks for reply.
-
@lorikeolmin Yeah ! We found this on Falcon online BFK after U3 update. i think we will get used to deal with them. But This is just beyond my inherent understanding of the Su-27.
We usually think that Su-27’s mobility ,SA and ability to avoid missiles are not as powerful as others boast. If it’s set for F-16, no problem. -
Did a quick test.
I noticed that the MiG-25 began to behave differently, they use powerful engines and the advantage of high speed. Now it’s harder to shoot it down. Well, maybe it just seemed like that -
new head-position feature i feel deserves at least some mention. Personally, i think its great. Its a small part in allowing some customization of a players personal experience. Prior to update I used to lean back in the chair and zero my head tracking so in-game position is just a little bit forward when i sit normally (this just feels a bit more natural to me).
and id like to put forward the suggestion to have it save’able in the future. IL2 Great Battles for example, You can “save” your head position with F-10, in effect making it the new zero. Its effectively persistent, so its the same each time you jump in the pit (so you don’t have to set it each time).
-
@fritz glad you liked it. Saving it can bea good idea, I’ll take a look. Thanks!

I too am loving the new update and want to thank the bms team and everyone else involved for the massive effort that goes into this project.
I have not been as active for the past half a year or so, due to RL obligations, but now the big changes are over, i am ready to get back into bms.
There are also many other great things happening in general for flight sims and i try to get everyone of my fellow virtual pilots and friends who are at least interested to try bms. For some of them it sticks, for some it does not.
Overall i am very happy with the new comms, forum and everything and hope bms has a long and bright future. I’m pretty sure the next few major updates are going to blow everyone’s minds.

no change at all in this field
The only difference is that AI are actually pumping when they are spiked by a missile instead of jsut notching
this is for MP
in SP this was working like this already

@fritz Do you know if there are any instructions on how to use this head-position adjustment? I used my PDF-reader program to do a search for “head position” in all of the files in my 4.35 Docs folder, and it didn’t find anything.
