Solved Pilot death - no ACMI
-
Happened to me several times now. Pilot dying in the cockpit leads to no ACMI file in folder. Positive it was enabled.

Me too. What it did for me was create the
*.flt
file but didn’t auto-convert to VHS, I had to run it through the oldflt2vhs.exe

converterHaven’t tried it yet, but does ACMI-Compiler 2.1 still work with 4.36? I would assume so, don’t think they made any changes to ACMI format/layout… or did they.

No .flt file after flight here.

@icer @LorikEolmin , Yes acmi-compiler still works , I suppose no change in ACMI structure …
But, there is a catch, you need to preserve the “died” state , don’t know if pause still working after death… , and switch to desktop (from 3D) … to run/enable acmi conversion , before exit from mission
Now 4.36 have a nasty feature (bug) while switching from fullscreen/desktop , actually, most of the times it crashed when returning to BMS 3D after switching to desktop
BMS in window/borderless window probably don’t suffer from that.
So there is a chance you can do the acmi conversion , flt must be in dir since you can never stop acmi while dead
But there is even greater chance that returning to BMS window will cause crash and loose the mission … which probably in not such a big deal - since you’re dead already
Give it a try

Maybe it’s a feature, not a bug. When the aircraft is destroyed you’ll certainly lose the “tape” of the recorder. Or does the recording work when the pilot ejects?

As long as I don’t die…
-
Then it’s probably not a feature.

@Scorpion82 It is not bug about being dead , that is final
Bug, or the feature… crash/freeze happens on switching from fullscreen / window state … it is an old bug … was a little better in 4.35 , if you paused before switching with alt+enter , it magically worked in about 90% cases , … that was really better then instant crash/critical stop in 4.36 , even with paused game in 3D.
But, since you’re dead, you don’t care anywayJoke aside, … that present the overall problem if doing external acmi conversion… you can’t switch to cmd window without risk of ctd, loosing mission …
I have an idea, not tested yet , soon… since windows offer virtual-desktops , will try to run acmi-converter in 2nd desktop , then at the end of mission try to switch to that desktop do the conversion and try to return to 3D /
Not that i expect great success , since you’re still switching from fulscreen to windowed state … no big hopes, but… we’ll see. -
we aren’t talking about the same thing here, ard we?

@Scorpion82 Nope. U re wrong, There is allways “black-box” , … in fact , there are 2 of them
