@Scorpion82 if f22 doesn’t have HMCS at the moment then how can it launch high off boresight shot using AIM-9X? dude f22 block 30 has hmcs, but no hmd

@farazparsa It can’t do full AIM-9X capability, it uses radar for high off boresight cueing. My guess is the USAF thinks it will kill everything BVR with AIM-120 so maybe doesn’t need it.
-
@Hubert3000 my guess is if it realy doesn’t have hmcs then it will use APG-77 SAM(situational awareness mode) for getting a lock using sensor data fuse via port band 2/3/4 antennas to get a perfect off boresight lock for a 9x off boresight shot.
-
@Hubert3000 i did research about f22 hmcs right now
it doesn’t have hmcs capability i was wrong but
it can do helmetless high off boresight shot because aim9x has lock on after launch capability. it means as soon as missile gets fired off the rail pilot can lock on the target via radar and missile will immediately turn and guide to the target.
as far as i know this capability is not programed in bms.
so you can simply enable hmcs on raptor for aim 9 x high off boresight shots.
and thank you all for participating in this conversation
so the raptor for being realistic in this theater needs to have:
hmcs enabled
carry 6 Aim120d or c internally(fuselage bay)
carry 2 aim 9 x internally(side bays)
carry 8 sdb gbu 39 or 53 internally(fuselage bay)
carry 2 gbu 32 jdam internally(fuselage bay)
carry up to 8 aim 120c or d or aim 9 x externally on dual amraam or sidewinder rail.
2 external fuel tanks

@farazparsa I don’t think they use external stores for combat missions as it compromises stealth.

As Hubert said, it can cue the missile with the radar and possibly other means such as data linked targets or even emitters tracked by the AN/ALR-94. One of the reasons why the AIM-9X was only integrated that late on the F-22 was that the original AIM-9X Block 1 was LOBL capable only. The Block 2 version introduced a LOAL capability, which is important for the F-22, as the side mounted position severely restricts the seeker’s field of view, as much of it is obscured by the airframe.
-
@Hubert3000 yeah right i didn’t saw any photo or videos of the f22 raptor with external missiles.
but only with external fuel tanks -
@Scorpion82 yes sir that’s right️

Hey guys. I have noticed some weird behavior with the JASSMs in the US/Iran camp. They are hitting to the side of the tgt steer-points is this a bug?
-
@JUmpstart5179 you sure you were zeroed and hadn’t accidentally offset your target designation searching with the FCR?
-
@jstnj no I don’t use the FCR when targeting. I use the coordinates set in recon for everything assigned and use TGP when I target on the fly.

Looks like a bug. I tested in Korea JASSM aim is off. You should make a bug report.
-
@Hubert3000 I would but the items needed and how to set it up confuses the hell out of me. Never had issues with the JASSM until this camp so was wondering if it was campaign specific.

Maybe you got it wrong. What you’re saying would mean that Aim9x has a datalink.
Can you prove datalink for Aim9x ?
LOAL should be fully automatic after launch, ie. NO datalink for Aim9x AFTER LAUNCH.Without hmcs/hmd , only option for F-22 is radar with lock but no ‘tone’ in Aim9,… tone will get later in LOAL.
Eg. check Israeli Python 5 (or 6?) … It has 180deg off-boresight - so, backwards,… of course, with LOAL - and NO datalink and/or hmcs.
Cheers

Maybe it’s a problem with my installation but I can’t activate the HMCS or it’s not active for the “Desert Storm” campaign for block 40 (421th)
-
@Fisu some planes have the switch but that doesn’t mean it is active or installed…
-
@SpbGoro Thank you looks great
-
@white_fang - as far as I know, there was never any such thing as an “AIM-54S”…but there was this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fakour-90
Whether or not it’s actually seen service use…I have no idea.
-
You are fine with the installation.
HMCS for F-16 included in other - more modern campaigns.
