New features expected in next release
-
Hello,
Is there someone who knows what are the expected new features in the next release of BMS?
Thanks in advance!
-
I’ve heard they increase the version no. with .01
But thats still rumors …

The developers, I imagine. Beta testers probably have a good idea, too.
-
I heard they are going to introduce these new-fangled VGA graphics.
-
I’ve heard they are not going to include IFF.

I am quite experienced C/C++ developer, especially C; and I would be interested to contribute to BMS development. I have started with Falcon a year ago and I read in FAQ section that they do not want anyone to ask to join the development… I do not know graphics design, but maybe I could help wiith IFF logic for example.
-
Well, I am unaffiliated with the development team… but as I understand it, your best chances of getting a place on the team is to demonstrate your work on falcon, and show it off such that the team would think your joining them would be a benefit to them. That comes down (as I understand it) to your people skills, the quality of your work…
For code, I guess if you implemented an example of a working IFF system using the publically available falcon 4 source code, that would be a pretty good demonstration of capability - but that is my own opinion, and not really as useful as that of say the development team.
Demonstrated ability is no good if you end up burning the wrong bridges. There have been a few cases in the past of people not being compatible with the BMS team philosophy, in being able to get along without personality clashes- a few database experts come to mind.
If I suddenly became a code expert overnight, I expect I wouldnt be able to join the team, even if I demonstrated a working and interesting Link 16 implementation
Obviously disregard if someone more qualified to discuss this comes along and contradicts me, but my recommendation would be to demonstrate a commitment to falcon and an ability to work on the area of your choice without oversight beforehand.

Working carrier landings, Five new ACs with dedicated avionics, Twin seat functionality, Full IFF rework, Controllable ground forces, Stand alone server mode, New terrain engine (7-10 million square nm) including transparent water and tidal coastlines, New Graphics Engine (NGN) with full Xfire/SLI scaling, Upgraded weather modelling, HD UI, Improved Multi core scalability, Integrated AWACS mode with in-game 3d ATC Tower “cockpits” (& coffee machines )
Did I miss anything ? Also Flight times in the ATO window. Yes and a new BS filter.
I’m hopeful.

Awesome

I am still adtonished to read people asking for HD ui….who gives a shit seriously ?

I think that most of peopple asking for a new release just want a new graphics engine, forgeting the most important aspect of this simulation.
I would love BMS even if it were on vector graphics.;) -

I would love BMS even if it were on vector graphics.;)In a simulator modeling the aircraft and its dynamics is one of the most important thing of making it feel like the real thing, but don’t forget that fancy graphics makes it look like the real thing.
Simulation is all about the feel and the look.

Don’t forget IFF,
Seriously, you take your self to seriously. Stress is bad for your health.

Hi, if you know coding I suggest you to start building some tool which can be useful to the sim, just pick something that will be helpful and go for it.

I would call these a revolution
These improvements would bring a serious excitement to the community. We should mark the names of the BMS developers to marble slabs to live forever

Indeed but I’m already very much thankful for all the work everyone involved did with BMS. Without them this current simulator wouldn’t be possible.
Thank you! :bowd: -
I do not like speak behalf on anybody but some information have been posted in recent years. I remember these, this is not “official”. The BMS4 never will say as a Team any specific. I’m glad you did not ask about release date…
- In case of F.L.A.R.E. tiles are done the shader based tree terrain generation will be actived. A document with such feature was leaked, but I did not kept it.
- New RWR code modeling the uncertainty of this system.
- Possible wavelenght modeling the different kind of land based radars to make some of them immune to SEAD. (This is just guessing)
- Likely database ugprades, hopefully at least loadout and dispenser corrections.
- Many new 3D models, Hayab made many new, land vehicles and aircraft either.
- Besides Hayab’s models we have seen at least new F/A-18C 3D model.
- New cockpits, I saw images about Hornet and AV-8 Harrier II.
- Possible support ot spearated \sim directory to make more easier the work of 3rd party developers. It has been requested many times and we got a emoticon as a feedback.
- Bugfixes.
-
What if all buttons and gizmos were clickable and functional in the F16 pit for starters? That is what I call a simulator…

Please bring this guy to work with BMS Dev Team for 4.33!!!

The reply was in jest, was that not obvious, Sorry if I mislead you.
PS: What ever 4.33 brings I personally will very happy with.
