F-14D Cockpit

Pepe, that is absolutely amazing. The canopy frame really gives the cockpit a finished look:D

Feels like home… also with all those wonderfull (I’m sick of how many they are  ) skins Tom has ready and maybe some AFM touch magic this can be a 2 in the price of one with the BUG Bonedust and others are preparing. Sure it will give the naval war a new meaning. If some one would spend the time and energy for Harrier and the fear of all SU-27 then even PvP’s upon Naval will emerge and the war setup will be even close to reality…
Imagine that…
EMF
Nimitz
f18 and f14 beauties near Crete
current setup Greece Turkey Israel etc
Kuznetsof over Syria
Isrealis and Greeks Defending Cyprus oil establishments…
A killer bw Server to handle 100 members , 4-5 different IVC servers, a superb MysticMagic setup PvP Campaign!!!
Doable I believe thanx to BMS and community…Well I don’t know about u, but I came…
PS. I forgot French and the sexy naval Rafale’s… making sure Libya is out of the pic…

Pepe, I’m totally speechless.
Cheers,

Pepe….“looking good”??? Mate that is the understatement of the century! It looks absolutely amazing
BTW, at one point you asked about the AoA meter. Well you probably found out yourself by now, but (as i am still reading) i just came to that part myself. 30 units of AoA on the Tomcat, is about 25 degrees real AoA. Hope it helpscheers and keep up the good work!
P.S. love the framework too!

I’ll take one, please.

Just for you mykinge, will I say this:
ONE OF THE BEST PITS I HAVE EVER SEEN. OUTSTANDING. AWESOME. REALISTIC. WHY AM I TYPING IN CAPS LOCK.
And those are just understatements.
I will always wonder why they haven’t released a fighter in the DCS series. I’m thinking they are leaving almost all of it to the 3rd party developers. Here’s a shout-out to ED: JUST CONJURE UP A FIGHTER ALREADY! IT HAS BEEN 4 YEARS SINCE THE BEGINNING AND WE ARE STILL WAITING FOR A FIGHTER, NOT SOME ATTACK OR HELI >:v!
Ok, now the A-10C and Ka-50 are good planes, but we need either a multirole or fighter up here. I really would like an F-15E or F-5 for DCS, since the F-15E is just plain awesome and the F-5 never/rarely gets attention in the simulation aspect. But alas, I could never make one. I’m just one pre-teen with barely any knowledge in 3D modeling and advanced flight dynamics .

Wow. That is some piece of art there……great job!

She’s a beaut!

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, they really help!
I just started to try to make the pit night compatible and I’ve ran into serious trouble right away. I will try to explain some of the symptoms to see what you think.
1. FACT - the pit works during the day but if I create a night mission it will only load partially and with the original (before modding) values of the tomcat pit.
2. FACT - if I modify the .dat files in ckpitartn with the new .dat files the pit will load completly but with some issues (will explain further down).
3. CONCLUSION - the tomcat pit looks still for information in the ckpitartn folder. From what I understood from other threads this is not normal behaviour as we should completly ignore ckpitartn folder as it is only relevant for 2d pits. What could this be due to?
4. FACT - on top of the issues mentioned above there is a problem with my pit at night (either fully or partially loaded). Flight seems to go well when I’m looking straight ahead but when I look to the sides the image freezes, game is still running and I can still hear sounds, but it’s like the image stops refreshing and froze. If I turn my head and look straight ahead everything goes back to normal!?! Could this be in relation with the rest of the issues?
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
Pepe

Get a tester to test it on a different system to determine its not driver related?
-
the cockpit art n folders are not for 2d pits they are for 3d pit. In my 3monitors setup I had to go there and alter the look down parameter.
So… -
Arty,
Thanks for your reply! Did you have to do this for the F-16 pit? What about the other flyable pits?
So contrary to what everybody is saying ckpitartn is still functional…
I have a feeling the looking to the sides issue has to do with the wings model…
I will put together a second beta version and see if other people have the same results…
Molni, in the meantime I think you have the latest version of the pit outhere…could you let me know when you have a minute the behavior of the pit at night??
Thanks!!

Guys,
Small weekend update….I´ve struggled the whole day with a massive hangover but I got some work done.
I´ve done some more testing with the pit at night. Is good to know that ckpitartn issue is normal behaviour, I´ve also checked and it seems the image freezing when looking to the sides issue is related to the NVGs, it doesn’t happen without NVGs on, so that’s another clue!
I´ve modified the floodlighting to orange and also managed to illuminate my first panel (in orange too)! Its hard to get any pictures of the tomcat pit in general so to get any shot of the pit at night is just impossible. I´m not sure what colour the illumination should be or how the instruments should be lit. If anybody has any good reference pictures that could help me to sort out a realistic lighting I would be grateful, either similar instruments or aircraft of the same time/maker (Grumman).
Thanks!
Pepe
