Crosswind Landings / "Impossible Landing" TE / Crosswind landing advice
-
PX III
No, these do not come from a SQ manual or SOP.
-
well I still dont see a specific prohibition in there regarding rudder, aside from DeeJays post.
-
Purely anecdotal, but the F/A-18 also has an FLCS and in one episode of ‘Jetstream’ I recall one of the instructors telling the student pilot to “get his feet off the f***ing rudder”….
-
Is it this one?
-
Didn’t see it in there. I think it was one or two eps before that.
-
This post is deleted! -
-
and that, boys and girls, is why we don’t fly F-16s in hurricanes.
-
Why do you come in so high?
-
Lol
Why dont u use ILS and the Drift/CO switch on ICP -
right,
coming in too high
having ILS markers in hud while not using the ILS scope/freq
Not using the wind indicator in the DED
Not crabbing the plane correctly
Not going around when already over more then the threshold runwayso overal, BAD preperation befor Landing
even before you put one wheel on the ground i knew the plane would crash
keep it up, someday you wil get there (join a VFW) -
Yup, all those things mentioned I have yet to (re)learn. I just wanted to attempt it as is for fun/challenge.
-
There some good docs on the FAA website that explain how to land a plane, if you already understand the concept on how to be on the proper slope, then it will be more easier for you to understand how specific to the F-16 some techniques change. Keep it going
-
nice editing. your are a future F4 movie maker.
the guy in the back seat is saying “wtf”.
I like when the ATC tells me to abort landing after ripping off half the LG. -
Actually, I do video editing and have done some fun stuff including F4… been meaning to do a nice BMS one, just lazy.
-
Awful approach!
@phait:Yup, all those things mentioned I have yet to (re)learn. I just wanted to attempt it as is for fun/challenge.
Maybe learning to make a proper approach and landing without wind could be also a good challenge for you as a beginning
Just for the joke …
Is your pilot in a permanent hypoxia?
-
Err. Not much more to say here. The others have said it quite well.
-
If you’re not going to apply the Drift C/O switch (i.e. pin the FPM to HUD Center), then put the FPM on the runway and fly to hold it there …. your FPM was all over the place … like you were flying the ‘nose’ of the plane and not the FPM.
(MHO, :2cents: and worth what you paid for it.)

Alright, it took a few months to get a timeframe to upload that video with a whopping 0.2Mbit upload speed, but there it goes:
Sorry for being late, but the internet is so incredible fast here :woohoo:
But I don’t want to upload it in bad quality since you can’t read any numbers then.
I hope that it might help somebody.Since I am no real pilot and have very little experience in real flying: Any feedback/ critics on how to do better is welcome.
Should have brought the wind information to the DED however, but forgot this time since the wind is always the same in the training TE 8-)I found out that in Kunsan, turbulences almost always occur on the coast, depending on altitude/ wind direction. In the training TE, the worst turbulence impacts the final approach and once you get through, it ain’t that bad anymore. So just keep it steady and get through it without getting too low and it’ll be fine (sounds easy, I know).
If it helps somebody, I might upload similar videos- if nobody watches it, I still got the experience of uploading my first video to youtube

I love how after the aircraft stopped he made sure to reset the Master Caution light. That made it all better!
