Two Seater F-16 DJ
-
Hi Folks,
I present: the Two Seater F-16 DJThe Facts:
All standard instruments are provided; inclusive the HUD und MFD´s and we even sit behind
our students in the back seat.
The only disadvantage, we cannot take over the control of the aircraft in this position on the
backseat as instructors.Applications:
The F-16DJ Block 52 can be used for now on as a trainer in almost all aspects of trainingflights.
It is also useful to swap the position, instructor in front, student behind or vice versa.
The instructor is now able to show his student any kind of manoeuvres without writing endless tutorial or make a video.
This can be used on combat mission as well. The pilot focuses on flying, the co pilot in his backseat takes care on navigation, Bullseye etc.
So a lot of new opportunities, as you can see.With a little proud I present here my approach to the two- seater F-16 DJ, which in particular allowes to make effective the training of new pilots a lot.
To my knowledge this has not yet been impemented in this scope and so I am pleased that so I can make a modest contribution to the BMS community.
However, I do not want to addorn myself with borrowed plumes.
I have availed myself tools such the MFD Extractor and the TopGun View.
So I have nothing new developed, but only a few things combined.
So, thank to all, who made this technically possible.On our tactic page you will find
And in which I present a VIDEO of the new features and capabilities (mp4 103 MB)
-Right click and save- (one of my best videos that I´m made…)ENJOY

From manual:
Instructor would have to take-off then land. Otherwise, without taking-off, 50min after T/O time, he will be kicked out the 3D world (flight canceled).
this can be changed…
open atc.ini file inside the save folder of your theater for example in Aegean: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Aegean\Campaign\Aegean
and change
PlayerBumpTime = 50to whatever u like… like 50000 so u will be kicked after 50000 minutes.
also same goes for
AIPullTime = 10
AIPatience = 120
ATCPatience = 180 -

IMHO most of training flights are not last longer than 30-45 min.
The concept of creating two seater is interesting, but I have another idea. Is it possible to create such a big cockpit wihch has front and back seats either? (I know, polycont can be an issue.) If it is possible with fixed snapshot position maybe is possible to create rear view. Is it possible to set such and X,Z,Y coordiantes? (Or if you have TIR you can move your head to be on the rear seat.) Only problem is the used qty. of MFD, the total can be only 4. It is possible to display twice the same MFD? Even if it is possible the instructor can see only the same MFD what the pilot uses.

That movie was incredibly well done. Camera angles, narrative, editing…all superb. Nice production.
-
Very nice beginning I hope BMS programmers help you also to make it more realistic and why not with both pilots’ flight control.

Thanks a ton, Bumerang!Not really a miracle. It’s a clever way of positioning the camera and using MFDE.
87th Has been using MFDE for some time now to simulate the ROVER system voor CAS missions.But still. Clever way to get close to a 2-seater.

It’s possible!!! WOW… You can defiantly teach some basic fundamentals but It would be great if a 3D 6 DOF back seat cockpit was created and the ability for the instructor to take control.
-
This would be TagNights dream come true.
There would be lots of large red text and a endless series of “read my post again”
Nice effort Bumerang or should that be “Boomerang”. Get back to me if you can.
Cheers ……

Very nice. Will defiantly have a go with this. Just love the creative mind in this forum…

I can’t see the video at work… so would your Track IR work from the back seat? And if I understand correctly, you can only view the HUD and MFDs if you use MFD extractor on another monitor?
IMHO most of training flights are not last longer than 30-45 min.
.You can spend 20mins on the ground with a student just doing the ramp start and making your takeoff time. Most of our training flights last 2hrs from ramp to ramp.
