F4Wx – Real Weather Converter

Problem solved!..apparently F4Wx was unable to download default number of forecast files. I had to limit those to lesser number. That never had happened since I started to use F4Wx.

@zamcesarc Same issue here. What is the number that is getting it to work. I’ve tried several (3h … 4h… 5h… ) and no joyEdit: Seems to be working now.

Hello, i’m struggling with the following 3 type of time used in the software
- initial time
- UTC time
- BMS time
i live in Italy, so let’s do an example:
I start a mission of my campaign, at the 18:00 LOCAL time in italy, the mission in bms in the briefing menu starts let say at 10:00.
how i have to set the 3 times above, in order to play with the REAL weather in korea at the 10:00?
i would like to fly with the real weather at the bms time in the mission briefing
so if i have to fly a mission start at 10:00, i would like to have the real weather in korea at 10:00i hope is clear, ty in advance

@fiffinolmo Most importantly, we are talking only in UTC times (ZULU or simply “Z” time in the military) with BMS 4.35 and F4WX. The following procedure should work in F4WX:
- Download the weather for the desired theater.
- Select “Save Sequence”.
- Set the “Initial Time” to the desired time (for example right after the campaign starting time such as Day 1, 0501Z). Note that you may change the “Day” number to make new weather maps for your ongoing campaign.
- Disable the “Sync With Real Timezone” setting.
- Enable the “Start From Current Position” setting.
- Slide the large weather map slider to match the “Current Time” with the “Initial Time” as closely as possible. For example, if your campaign starts on Day 1 at 0500Z in BMS, adjust the slider to the first available 0500Z (= “Current Time”) time. You must look at the “Current Time” under the large weather map to match the time in BMS (= “BMS Time” under the map, which comes from the “Initial Time” on step 3).
- Save the weather maps. I’d recommend enabling the “Save Preview Images” setting too; mark all settings under the large map (Clouds, Temperature, Pressure, Wind).
Basically, the above procedure tries to match all the three times you mentioned.
Lastly, the “Sync With Real Timezone” setting of F4WX is not needed anymore as the game uses UTC times only.

@johku Ty so much
so big change is that Sync With Real Timezone, can be also disabled now
Ty i will try -
there is something wrong : impossible to download any GFS
here the error message
-
@suhkoi69 Try to download the next line and see if that helps. I works for me when I get that message. If a no go, you just have to wait until NOAA have updated their files
-
@nil already tested but without success
-
first, I noticed it is little long to get this windows
and after choosing any GFS, I get the error message and it is the same for all theaters.
I try to load grib files in the the weather source option and nothing is loaded
has anyone tried to load a grib file in F4WX?
-
@suhkoi69
I’ve experienced that error in the past, but this version 1.05 seems to works perfectly. I use it regulary without problems. Try to unistall and re-install F4wx. The downloading waiting time could be shorten setting the downloading Forecast and interval with different values. I suggest to read BMS Technical Manual in your FalconBMS4.35 Docs directory (Chapter 7.4 F4Weather (F4Wx), pag 7-45. -
I just try it again and now it seems work fine
-
Sometimes, NOAA’s services are off line. I work with services provided online by the NGS, and at times they are out. Just have to sit back and wait…
-
Is there somewhere intuituve we can find background maps for all the theaters?
-
-
@lorikeolmin Thank you very much!
-
Will this work with the changes to 4.36 .fmap files or should we wait for an update to the applet?
-
@Ahmed I noticed something strange with F4WX: I downloaded a recent weather forecast from KTO and I think there is a mistake with the FMAP for time UTC +9
I think that 00:00 (UTC+9) is noon and not midnight because the temperatures are always higher at 00:00(UTC+9) than 12:00(UTC+9)~10°c (green area)
~20-25°c (yellow area)

@suhkoi69 said in F4Wx – Real Weather Converter:

I wonder if that could be related to what I have noticed which is the moon position does not match what it should actually be based on the time of the night.

@suhkoi69 BMS regardless of theater is Zulu time based. In order for things to work correctly with BMS 4.35/4.36 the hour for ‘Current Time’ and ‘BMS Time’ must be the same (for instance if ‘Current Time’ is 03:00 so also ‘BMS Time’ has to be 03:00).
In the past (pre BMS 4.35) adjustment for time zone was necessary but like said above it is not required anymore. -
@dcraig1 thanks oh I understand… I probably made a mistake when I saved without knowing it , my bad!
the BMS time in F4WX app may be confusing …according to my last check, all works fineI have understood my mistake : if by misfortune, you check “save sequence”, automaticcally, the BMS time will always appear the day1: 9:00 under the map even if you slide the time ruler…to avoid this stupid error, it would be better to replace BMS time by local time) and current time by BMS time (zulu time)
