I just happened to see the vid again just now, and was struck by what I was looking at at 1.35 in the vid. I never really took much notice before until today.
I have often wondered if the map tiles will be gone in the new terrain update we are all aching for. And sure enough, I needed to find what I was looking at in Google maps. I managed to find it in less than 2 minutes.
Check these pics out.

RE: BMS 4.37.3.0 Update Alt Launcher Error Messages
@airtex2019 Hi, I have tried to look at Nortons report. All it says is the issue is gone. Not helpful at all. I will try other routes but my knowledge is not that great if any at all.

RE: BMS 4.37.3.0 Update Alt Launcher Error Messages
@Tiger78 Thanks for reply Tiger78, but you could check if your file has not been hacked with a virus. You never know these days.

RE: BMS 4.37.3.0 Update Alt Launcher Error Messages
@Tiger78 Norton does not like the Alt launcher exe. So much so that it removes it. Can you investigate please.

@sunrrrise Here’s another shot from U3. Eagles dancing in the evening sun.
Lol, on a clear day over my beautiful English village, I might see these dogfighting far above my house or close to it. As usual, I can only hear them but don’t usually get to find them. I believe they are stationed at RAF Lakenheath.
To all that has made Falcon 4 into Falcon BMS, I thank you for your skills, patience and dedication to perfection. Thank you. -

@Tomcattwo Oooookay, then. (Amazing vid, BTW. Thanks.)
I have questions. (For any of the experts in this thread)
I’m going on the basis that there is no such thing as a stupid question, so - forgive me if the answers are obvious.
- He seems relaxed when he ducks past the nozzle a few times, right…?
SO - during the RAMP, when the throttle is pushed forward and the nozzle closes somewhat…
- What would happen if someone were standing BEHIND the nozzle…?
Would they be blown backwards (like with heavy commercial jets)…?
Would they get BURNED…? (Like - is that exhaust ridiculously hot…?)
Both…? Neither…?
Also (related) —>
-
When the nozzle is completely open. What would happen if one were standing right behind the nozzle…?
-
Assuming that it WOULD hurt (so this question is irrelevant if the above answers were: “nothing would happen”)…
- What would be a SAFE distance to stand behind the nozzle as it is:
a.) Open. b.) Begins to close up…?
- The safety pins on the landing gear…
IF he had forgotten to pull one of those pins… (I am assuming here that they don’t seem in any way connected electronically; they seem physical)
- Could the jet still taxi and take-off; the issue only becoming evident when he tried to raise the gear…? Or - are those pins actually connected somehow, and would not allow taxi…?
I just can’t believe that in the entire history of military jet-aviation that not a single person on any one of a million occasions has not forgotten just one pin. Head-trauma from a year prior; concussion from last week; hangover; depression; thinking about a sick relative; simple brain-fart. Surely - statistically - it must have happened.
Sorry for SO MANY questions, but - I just need to know.
(I actually cut out another three that I have)Lol, correct there are no stupid questions. You don’t need anyone who doesn’t know what they are doing messing around with aircraft.
- The crew chief ducks down as he passes the nozzle. No one would argue with jet flux just like a civvy would not argue with a tank. Unless your Chinese. I argued with a Hercules once when he engaged reverse. I was at least 100m in front of him and he still won as I didn’t have my safety goggles on. The dust cloud was ginormous in the desert.
2 and 3 are only for the stupid. We all get trained to respect jet flux and safety distances around aircraft.
- A safety pin would hold the leg in the downward position and would be shown as a red landing light when u/c up is selected when the other lights go out. The pilot would just land at the earliest opportunity. They would also likely be informed by the ATC that 1 leg is down. No big deal but embarrassing for the pilot. The pins are not connected to anything electrical as far as I know, but I can’t speak for every aircraft. The red flag on every safety pin is a visual sign from distance of a pin still fitted.
- He seems relaxed when he ducks past the nozzle a few times, right…?

RE: Virtual Crew Chief for BMS
I just thought, I’ve never seen seat pins in the F16. So here is a pic of the Jaguar I worked on for 13 years. The seat pin storage highlighted.

@Tomcattwo Great video thank you! I wonder why the crew chief waves his hand across each panel after he closes it.
Its a secondary check that the panel and locking tabs are flush with the aircraft surface. I only did this see-off a hand full of times in my RAF career, as I was second line servicing, where aircraft serviced (which could take months) carried out a flight test before being released back to the flying squadron. Panel security is of high importance along with the removal of safety pins. What we don’t see are the removal and storage of the seat safety pins and storage in the cockpit. They are stored in clear view of the pilot. The pilot usually removes the last seat pin (between his legs) and stores it with the other 4. All actions are ‘habits’ that are used to make sure everything is carried out in order and correctly. There are no parking spaces up there.

RE: Throttle reverse issue
Don’t tell me there’s a kin manual that explains all that.
In the 25 years I have had this game, I have never had to set the idle. I was setting the AB but not the idle. Thanks for your help. -
RE: Throttle reverse issue
@airtex2019 said in Throttle reverse issue:
@jagfour you’ll have to re-establish the AB- and idle-detents, after reversing throttle axis … they don’t “swap” automatically
Yes eventually after the bug has been fixed.

Throttle reverse issue
Took delivery of a Thrustmaster TWCS today with the intention of using it right handed. In order to keep the now new forward to go faster motion, I needed to reverse the throttle axis, which is with a single click of the reverse button in throttle axis setup. Unfortunately in BMS 4.37.1, it messes up the throttle input in the 3D world. It results in max throttle at both ends of travel, with about 60% throttle in the middle. The visual of the throttle in the cockpit confirms this. I tried a control test using my Cyborg Evo joystick throttle, and the issue is repeatable with it. Ergo, I can only come to the conclusion that it is a bug as it is not limited to the Thrustmaster. All visual indications of the axis both in Microsoft setup and within the game setup give no indication that there is any issue with motion.

RE: Lost all contact with aircraft in my flight.
The issue has been fixed.
The reason was that for an unknown reason, I just cannot remember why it happened, the default VHF channel had been changed to ch 6 in the data cartridge. Because I have never changed the Com 2 channel, ever. I have only ever changed channel on Comm 1, using channels 3, 4, 5, 6. I only launch from the runway as I do not wish to use time up flicking switches or waiting in queues. I had missed the point that I need ch 15 to speak to my flight.
There is no bug. There is no need for my idea for channel numbers to flash if both comms are selected with the same channel number.
It is noted though, that nobody saw that I was not able to speak to my flight because I did not have ch 15 selected. Nor was anything to do with frequencies relevant to the problem, as all relevant frequencies are loaded into the DC.
Someone advised me to read f***ing manuals. Believe me, 27 years servicing the Hawk, Jaguar and Tornado requires a hell of a lot of reading manuals. You cannot make anything up when servicing an aircraft, or it will fall out of the sky. -
RE: Lost all contact with aircraft in my flight.
I would like to make a suggestion. If UHF and VHF channels are the same then the channel numbers turn red, or flash if a colour is not an option. It would then require a decision as to which one to change to remove the clash.
You know, this kind of issue is dealt with by the pilots or engineers themselves during the life of a military platform. The processes are there to forward ideas for modifications which are examined by designers and more qualified engineers. Financial rewards are given to those who came up successful ideas. No machine is ever designed perfect. Mods are almost constant through a life of a machine. I speak from experience as I served in the Royal Airforce for 27 years as an aircraft engineer. Installed many a mod to Hawk’s, Jaguar’s and Tornado’s.

RE: Lost all contact with aircraft in my flight.
@LorikEolmin I am aware of that Lorik. I have good news. Issue sorted.
I thought that I could try to completely eliminate pilot settings by starting a new campaign. The issue still existed. Very frustrating.
Plan B. Lets go into 4.36 and look around for anything that may be different inside the cockpit. I scanned any switches that may be causing the problem. Nothing looked out of place, until I looked at the UFP and the DED, and after a few seconds, there it was.I exited 4.36 and loaded up 4.37. Entered the campaign and went straight into the Data cartridge and checked my Comms defaults. Sure enough, somehow I had set the VHF default to Ch 6 whilst in 4.36, it was Ch 15. Ergo, when UHF was set to Ch 6, there was a hidden clash of cultures.
So. This highlights an issue about pilot settings across campaigns. You cannot completely reset a pilot settings by loading a new campaign. Maybe this should be looked at by BMS. What settings should transfer with you across campaigns? Do they go with you to other theatres?

RE: Lost all contact with aircraft in my flight.
@jagfour Everything worked before 2 days ago. I am the flight leader, I have only ever used UHF (COM 1) to talk to anything, not VHF. Never used VHF, ever. Everything is AI only. I haven’t flown with humans for 20 years or so in F4. Not sure I need to worry about my kneeboard as everything is saved into the Data cassette.
Thanks for input guys but nothing new here yet. -
Lost all contact with aircraft in my flight.
Have not been able to contact any aircraft in my flight, in multiple missions and even after making a new pilot to eliminate any pilot related settings. I can contact AWACS on the same channel 6. Am in contact with ATC chnl 3 and 4. I have no idea what is going on. Help.

RE: VIRPIL Throttle CM3 button mapping question.
@kungfoo I am toying with the idea of going to Virpil. Not sure I will actually do it. But my resistance might fail one day.
I have just looked through the BMS Technical manual para 10.8.4 How to setup devices with more than 32 buttons.
In there it shows you how to setup 128. I’d love to know how this improves the DX button issues pretty please : )
