I started as a TM Cougar user, then went the FSSB/TUSBA route.

RE: Cougar Throttle Hall Effect Potentiometer - Cubpilot Reincarnated!
So will this mod to a Cougar throttle be compatible with the TUSBA? My stock pot is a little spikey after 15 years, but I love the newfound TUSBA functionality.

RE: Cadet Mentors
I am of the opinion that knowledge comes from exposure, but proficiency comes through repetition.
In terms of “modes of learning” some people have difficulty reading a 400 page manual, you have to admit that it can be intimidating to a newcomer! Some people prefer video tutorials, while others prefer to “learn by doing.” None of these modalities are necessarily “better” but a well-rounded training program should understand and attempt to accomodate each of them.
I would like to ask a few more questions. How well do you think, and how utilized are, the built-in training TEs in the sim? I think we can we can all agree that they are far from complete, but how well would running, and passing, each of the training TEs help your vetting of potential recruits?
Forgive me for making any comparison to FSX(I will surely be penalized a couple of rounds at the O-club later…), but would a “reward” for completion of the training set help to incentive the process? That comes back to intrinsic vs. extrinsic motivation. IF (and it’s a big, hypothetical if) an accepted standard were prescribed along the lines of what the TCM project mentioned earlier, could a community recognized “badge” be administered? I am thinking along the lines of Mozilla’s Open badges initiative at openbadges.org
It would be very cool to see this community generate a curriculum set of training TEs with stated learning objectives, grading standards, briefings, etc. The VFWs may have to collaboratively establish, or “buy into” an accreditation system but it could help establish a truly level playing field for quantifying an individuals exposure level across the various VFWs or at FO.
I understand that some are satisfied with competency, others move toward currency while others strive even harder for proficiency. Let’s face it, some are here to game and “blow stuff up”, others are here for the hobby, others come specifically to learn and be challenged. As long as each person walks away fullfilled we should all be happy. BMS has SO MUCH to offer, but at the end of the day each one of us has to choose how much we want to invest in ourselves on this platform.
Thank you for your patience and I look forward to hearing your thoughts and comments on the above points. -
RE: Bug Report: Rendering of MFDs and HUD stops after viewing external views
It definitely seems to happen more often if taking LONG loft shots and cycling 1-> 6 -> 7 -> 1 views in different intervals. I still have not figured out exactyl what conditions cause it, but now I can make it happen every round. Block52 vs Tu95 bomber, start from 60 nm and just shoot loft on max range up high.
What is the state of your switches on the oxygen regulator panel. Being that you are at high altitude, hypoxia can do strange things to the eyes…

RE: Thought on the distribution of BMS
In a sense, Steam would be offering BMS as an optional install, that would first require Falcon 4.0 be purchased through Steam. This would require a small amount of extra maintenance work by the BMS team to push new releases, and discussion with Retrosim to set up.
So you are saying free DLC?

RE: VG BMS4 Co-op | 24/7 Dedicated Server!
Hey guys. This is my fault for introducing them to a community server, without having them register and read through forums first. I wanted to put them somewhere that I knew was stable that we could run a few training TEs on and introduce IVC. I apologize for taking that shortcut.
As I stated previously, it was not done maliciously, it was their inexperience. I am trying to facilitate a transition to BMS from other sims like FSX and DCS. This community of all people must know that it can be like drinking from a fire hydrant at the start.
We recognize and have addressed the consequences of these actions. Please don’t castigated these people and turn them off to an incredible simming community/experience.

RE: "Stingers" VFA-113 Skin (BMS 4.33 F-18 C Hornet US Navy Skin)
I for one am looking forward to the VFA-103 project being completed. I would also like to request consideration for VFA-83, VFA-94, VFA-131, and VMFA-232 as well.

RE: VG BMS4 Co-op | 24/7 Dedicated Server!
I know the first four guys, I introduced them to the VG server and feel a little responsible for this. They are new-ish to BMS and I don’t believe that it was malicious, but rest assured that this message is being passed on.

RE: BMS Manuals: Homemade Books!
I use Adobe Acrobat’s “booklet printing” feature to print a “half letter” size booklet on a b/w laser printer. After cutting the pages in half, I then use a hole punch and insert the book into a 3- or 7-ring binder. It has served me very well.
I have also picked up the half-letter sized sheet protectors from Office depot and used them with a single ring to keep my checklists and approach plates handy while flying. Just my two cents. -
RE: Arty Particle System Modifications…
So now I have to ask, is this Update 5 or 6 compatible?

RE: WIP:AV-8B
The real av8-b have radar A/A ?
The AV-8B uses the APG-65/73, the same radar as the legacy (A/B/C/D model) F/A-18 Hornets. I know because I repaired them when I was in the service.
