One last thing, is there a cockpit switch to unfold the Phantom’s wing tips?

RE: Nordic Theater New jet issues and tips
What even brought this up was a flight I just had a few minutes ago. I was flying along, minding my own business when something took a shot at me. I nosed over to get some speed and get down a bit, got the jet to about 550 knots and maybe 45 degrees nose down, and then it just became plain unresponsive to control inputs and I ended up lawn darting. I’ve been trying to replicate it…maybe I got hit…it didn’t seem like it, but the plane just wouldn’t fly anymore.

RE: Nordic Theater New jet issues and tips
Hey guys, awesome to see the F-4J’s in the theater. I’m glad all those skins are getting a workout…nice to see Trip Trey in the lineup again!
I’ve been having some trouble flying the Phantom, though. In particular, for example, if you get the jet up to about 13,000 feet or so, 400 knots, and then push those nose straight over, it will get to about 20 degrees nose down and then pop right back up. G-limiter? Or flight model bug?
In fact, I’d really appreciate it if a couple of you guys could take the jet up and just push it around the sky a bit and see what you think. There are definitely some quirks. I don’t want to say bugs, because for all I know it’s how the jet is supposed to fly.

RE: Nordic Theatre 1.0 BMS 4.33
Guys, sorry I’m so late to the party. I just scrolled back to the first post in this forum…hard to believe more than 5 years has gone by.
I am just now downloading the theater and hope to install sometime this week. I haven’t flown much Falcon over the last year or so.
I’d also like to throw a shout out, whether it’s in the theater docs or not, to Khronik. The original raw files were hosted on this fellas site, I simply cannot remember his name anymore (edit: Fafa), but before he shut it down I downloaded almost everything he had hosted, including some raw files for this theater that started this whole process. Those files were from a REALLY long time ago, like 2002 or something, to give you an idea of how long this theater took to come to fruition.
Khronik was the one that took some obscure zip file, and was actually able to make it into something Falcon could use. If not for him, this theater would never have even been started I suspect.
Having said that, once Tom, Chuckles, Cloud, and Ranger took it over, there was never really any doubt how it would turn out. True developers…my hat is off to you all.

Edit: I love Google…I got this theater from Fafa’s old website.~~

RE: Norway Theater - Lets do it!
Impressive stuff, guys!
Apologies if this has been addressed earlier, but are there any plans, or the possibility of plans, to use one of the .cam files for an 80’s scenario?

RE: Kurile Island conflict 1.0 for BMS 4.33
Just downloaded and read your manual. You give me far too much credit, Chuckles. All I’ve ever done is dabble with .cam files. What you and the team have done is leaps and bounds above anything I’ve ever contributed.
Thank you very much for your kind words, but the hard work rests upon the you all. Great job- I look forward to giving it a try soon.

Thanks for the kind words, and congratulations getting the theater out Chuckles. It’s a huge achievement.

RE: What happened to the SAAFOPS theater
Two points:
First, Molni did a fantastic job on the DB for his Korea 1980’s theater. I have consistently thought that his DB should be the standard for 80’s theaters. If you try his campaigns, you’ll find BMS is a completely different beast.
Second, anyone working on DB edits MUST, MUST, MUST be either working closely with, or be within the inner BMS development circle. Too much of what the development team is doing changes the DB and without collaborating with them closely, your work is doomed to the recycle bin.
Third- so I guess three points- while Molni has valid points regarding the fidelity of red jets, I repeat what I have always said. What we have now is still the best, even if it’s not very close to reality. What I mean is that barring the DCS MiG-21, and a few red FC3 level jets, there aren’t many options for flying red jets. It’s the few DCS, Strike Fighters, and whatever we can put into BMS. From that perspective, BMS is a viable alternative. So, Molni, with all respect, please understand that while you might roll your eyes at the idea, some of us really enjoy the challenge of playing this sim from the red side…even if the red jets are terribly overmodeled. There just aren’t many other options, so until there are, just let us have our fun and accept that it IS fun for some of us.

RE: PMC Theaters
^ Yes, maybe I wasn’t clear. None of the theaters here, including Panama and Kuriles, are PMC….all have been scratch-built, or using other, non-PMC theaters as a baseline.
PMC had its place, and Snakeman still hosts the site and the wiki with a lot of information. I bear Snakeman no ill-will, and let’s not forget all he contributed with is site prior to his payware-stance.
But once we as a community were forced to start from nothing, I think we can agree that the material coming out, certainly in this forum, is of much higher quality. It took a few years, but we have some nice theaters to fly in now.

RE: Mower's. KTO live fire range
Well yeah. I’m starting to get back into BMS again and, frankly, I just don’t remember how to do most of the advanced features in BMS. I was looking for your KTO training range to get some practice and…well, here we are.

RE: Kuwait Theater tester version 1 now available
I provided all of the skins I have to the developers…the link is probably in this thread somewhere. There weren’t very many.

RE: PMC Theaters
Ranger,
A lot of history here to go through, but the short version is there are no PMC-related materials in this forum. One of the best things Snakeman ever did for Falcon was to lock up those PMC theaters because they forced folks to learn how to use the tools- in some cases create new tools- and do the hard work themselves. The result has been theaters of much higher quality than anything we ever did at PMC.If you’re interested in getting involved, you might want to PM Chuckles and look at Panama or Kuriles. I know he’s put a lot of work into both of those, and are in a close to finished state.

RE: Mower's. KTO live fire range
^ Yes, I too was looking for it not that long ago.
Not saying do it just for me, but I did find it hugely useful previously.

RE: Norway Theater - Lets do it!
^ WHOA!
Hope you stick around a while!
(Did somebody say Falklands?)

RE: Who is flying Hornet ops online and can I fly with you?
I’m sorta interested in this as well. I am interested in some MP ops, but without a virtual squadron commitment. I’ve never done MP in Falcon, believe it or not.\
Just jumping on Mower’s bandwagon, not meaning to hijack.

RE: RedFlagTG Theater Announcement
Iceburg,
Awesome enthusiasm. This theater idea has been worked on by a thousand people for a thousand years, and it never gets completed. Maybe you’ll be the guy, and I hope you are.My recommendation, as always, is to make your theater as small as reasonable to still be able to do whatever your main idea is. A 64x64 segment theater is a huge amount of work, and you don’t have a lot of water there to take the pain away. I tried a 16x16 segment Nevada with Polak and it was too small because you could see off the end of the map. So my recommendation is to scope it down to 32x32. Panama uses that size and it’s very workable.
I had the start of a Fallon theater here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/v289kowzs047f45/Fallon.rar
There are some tiles in there- see if there is anything you can use. I don’t think it will work as a drop-on and play theater; it’s just the terrain that would require you to build the theater folder around it.
If you haven’t, read all of the threads in this subforum from start to finish. We did a lot of work on this theater over the years. Polak, in fact, had a nice photo-real Las Vegas, for instance.
My true advice? Shelve this idea until you work on an existing theater and get some experience. Maybe pitch in with Norway. It’s an extraordinarily painful, time-consuming, and difficult process to build a theater from scratch.

RE: 4.33.1 will release shortly: what you need to know and how to be prepared
Very reasonable solution….good news all around. Nice job, Tommo!

RE: Test low-poly toys in BMS4..
I probably asked this before, but do you have any intention of packaging up some of this stuff for a campaign modder, or are you just torturing us?!
Seriously, though, there are some very interesting things we could do with your toys. I’ll bet Molni could work some serious magic.
