F/A-18C cockpit test
Hi everyone;
proceeding with the modeling of the AV8B cockpit (https://forum.falcon-bms.com/topic/28067/av8b-cockpit-documentation/26), I obviously became aware of tricks, errors and slightly more efficient working methods; still at an absolutely amateur level, I thought I’d start from scratch with something new, applying what little I may have learned from the Harrier’s cockpit.
Honestly, I don’t think that the result that can be obtained will be better than what is already available, and in particular I don’t think it can match what I’ve seen of @kankock F/A-18a, in any case the goal for me remains to learn something new; furthermore, if I arrive at a model that can be used in game, at least I will be able to use the part of the avionics available at the moment.
As always, advice and opinions are welcome -

Thanks to @MCDeedle and @richionizor for the info,
and @okayasugf for useful tips and for his patience during our recent chat.Obviously, the process is much more complex than I had assumed.
In any case, I proceed with the modeling phase, starting to worry about unwrap and textures (Substance Painter seems to be a big help in this) -

Does anyone have cockpit diagrams or drawings available?
Tips and tricks?I repeat, this is not a serious project; the result will probably be less than what is already available (if he does not die prematurely, as he probably will).

Hi everyone.
Recently I have dedicated myself to the rendering of materials and shadows in various lighting conditions.
Obviously there is always a lot to do, but things slowly evolve.A question:
Are the writings on the analogue instruments phosphorescent? Is it therefore necessary to make them minimally emissive?Another question:
Is it possible to associate this model with the avionics (incomplete, but in my opinion more similar) of the F/A18c?As always, advice, opinions and criticism are welcome.

I’ll leave an update (nothing particularly interesting to see, mostly questions)As for the hotspots, after a few attempts I managed to set a simple one, which surprisingly also works!
As for the HUD I managed to position it more or less correctly; instead for the left MFD, I positioned it by entering the coordinates in the “3dCkpit.dat” file; It seems to work correctly, but I don’t think it’s the right method, in fact the image is visible through the other objects.
Any suggestions?Thank you all

I’m starting to learn about unwrap and textures in blender and the export plugin (however, for my convenience, at the moment the initial modeling proceeds with sketchup).
Any suggestions to start evaluating the model visually ingame?Thank you.

I’m not sure my little brain can handle another piece of software…
Anyway, thanks to @okayasugf and @Arty.
I put texturing aside for a moment to try new things in modeling, specifically extruding cables along a curve. I have to say that I like Blender more and more.Greetings!

Are RTT displays susceptible to the alpha sorting problem?
I have no issues with the HUD, but the MFDs are only visible from certain viewing angles… -

Motion reproiection or whatever it’s called?
Maybe you could try disabling it, or lowering the graphic details (start lowering the antialiasing) -

Yes, agree.
Anyway, i suspect it is better to keep the pilot on a different bml model, to bind visibility to a keypress (anyone can confirm?). -

Yes, sure. But hands, arm and shoulder has more rotation/translation to be a bit believable, and the stick has two direction movement instead of the only one of the rudder. So i think it is more complicated. -

Hello everyone.
In this short video you can see a first rough test of the rudder (and legs) animation (yes, I noticed the penetration on the knee…).
A total of 10 DOFs were needed; furthermore this work would be useless without the arms animation, which is certainly more complicated…What do you think?
