Game Time vs Real Time
-
Hi all
Just wondering what the ratio? of game time to real time is? I am sure that IRL the actual missions would take several hours to complete and wonder if BMS uses a compression ratio or something like that for in game missions.
Thanks

1:1 unless you activate time compression in game.

Its mostly a matter of distances. Korea typical distances are quite small. This is why some foolish people bring bombs instead of fuels tanks and get away with it

If you plan a flight exactly based on a past real mission, and follow everything on the timeline (and do pretend arming and stuff), youll be in your armchair the same length of time as the real pilot.

Armchair!?!?
That’s no ‘armchair’, that’s my cockpit!!

Well I did realize that if you followed the whole mission from planning, ramp start and shutdown as per real life, then ya it would take several hours on avg. I assumed that because of this that BMS/Falcon AF/Falcon 4 would adjust for this accordingly so that you weren’t sitting in your pit for four or five hours, though that would be kinda fun, at least doing it once. I’m sure my Air Boss would object to that becoming a habit! LOL

That cushion should become a prerequisite!

Nothing is adjusted. Just think that Korean theater is much smaller than most of nowadays theater (Lybia, Iraq, Mali …)
Some mission duration can goes up to 6 to 10H of flight with several Air to Air refuel.
For the pre-flight, consider two about hours of planning plus 1/2 an hour to one hour of briefing …

One of my favorite Falcon4 flights ever was a strike on Iran’s nuclear plants in the ODS theater back in the Open Falcon days. It was a 6hr flight taking off from Israel, refueling over Israel and Iraq, and striking nuclear plants in Iran. We planned on refueling twice each way but had to do it more than that. Not everything went as planned but it was a lot of fun.

I realize this probably won’t ever happen, but I sure would like it if a future version of BMS included a GLOBAL theatre that allowed you to do such crazy things as ferry a squadron of fighters across the Atlantic Ocean.
I dream of a fantasy future where simulation designers have standardized on how all world features are implemented, clearing the way for a common simulated world database that is accurate and accessible from any sim, land, sea, or air, and all sims would use that format. But the users of it would only see what’s appropriate for what they’re currently doing. BMS users would only see and be able to interact with others playing the same theatre scenario, and NOT see those goofy guys playing The Hobbit when flying over New Zealand.

…I think that’s called “Google Earth”…

Google earth has for some time now included an F-16 ‘simulator’ as one of its features.
Gotta say I prefer the BMS flight model though. Admittedly, the textures are pretty great though.

Yep … there is already a thread about this. “Unfortunately” this will never happens. But we can hope that some other theaters will rise up and will be polished for our pleasure.

You are Crazy! … But I would love to fly such mission in your wing!

256 seg. terrain support would be good start. Today BMS build in utils are able to produce terrain files upto the 128 seg.

Good for TE … problem is that Dynamic Campaign engine is not able to handle such big theater and can’t work properly (depending on distance to fly to reach hostile area).

… it is possible to model 64 (even smaller) campaigns over 256 terrain.
But If desired, there can be few long-range bomber squadrons located to take advantage of big terrain… or even F-16squads for pilots like Demo
