Cannot Laze . getting T not an L letter during gbu drop . need help please.

wtf guys. I started a thread asking for some help . What I get is " read the manual" That with all due respect isnt a great help. As I can see from the touchy individuals here . Not a real friendly community I see. How dare I complain? Get real please
Yes because the manuals have all the answers you need. If you took the time to read the Sniper section then you will know that you needed to switch laser to combat in order to guide LGBs.
I’m not even getting into the argument about the details, this is as real as we could get it in the 4.33 scope, and we will keep going out and looking for real, not good for you? so maybe it’s not the sim for youDCS A10c isnt exactly easy to pick up ether . But at least the manuals set up logically to learn the systems.
I just love it when people are saying something but not explaining anything actually… if you have complains about the manuals structure, you are welcome to open a thread about it and explain EXACTLY what you don’t like or what you think can be improved.
And just for the record, IMHO the BMS manuals are closer to real manuals, than the DCS A-10 manual, for example. -
I am very happy with that aspect of the manuals actually. 4.32’s “dash 34” did not live up to the name. 4.33 is MUCH better in this regard.

Just posting to say that the manuals in 4.33 are a massive improvement compared to previous versions.
A BIG thanks to all involved, really makes it much easier to get back into Falcon.

With respect, once upon a time, an internet forum was regarded as an excellent source of information too. Especially one dedicated to the subject matter, as this one is. “RTFM”, especially for someone who is new to the subject, can and very often does come across a less than helpful, and even downright rude.
-
Yep, but if we need to copy paste two pages of details that are already in the manual, do you imagine the time waste?

Perhaps what is needed is an in-between, where all the training info can be summarised in a sticky thread. Give the newbie the bare bones info, with a reference to the relevant page number of the relevant manual at the end of the post? A Nuggets Guide, similar to as was in the F4 forum at Frugals all those years back.
Agree it means a fair bit of work to begin with, but if all the community chipped in with their own little bit of expertise, it wouldn’t take too long before it grew into a useful online resource.
After that, if newbie still asked questions, RTFM (and more besides) would be much more relevant…

But he didn’t get a RTFM response. Red Dog immediately responded with:
you need to go back to the manuals I’d suggest taking the LGB training mission and the associated training manual chapter
My guess: Your laser is not combatHis response told him where to go to find the answer and even pointed towards the laser setting. From what i’ve seen over the last week, most RTFM responses from the BMS team have been accompanied with a at least the manual to consult and many have included a page reference.
People have to expect to do at least SOME work when learning a sim as complicated as this. It’s just not practical for the devs/community to keep responding to every question when the time has already been spent to develop updated manuals. If you can’t be bothered to spend 5 minutes looking through a manual don’t be surprised that no one is interested in spending 5 minutes to spoon-feed you.

Event in a sticky topic, it will never be enought I think. How many people ask for something in the article in the website? Or in the FAQ? Way to many.
Sadly, you can prepare the best doc ever (and I think the one in the 4.33 is like that), you will always have bunch of guys that prefered to post somethings as ask to somebody to spend 20 min of copying an information already existed, than just check the manual givin IN the default install. -

You miss my point! Some newbies might not have the first clue where to start looking! You have to remember some people might be totally new to combat flight sim altogether!
While I don’t disagree with you - some effort should be expended on the OP’s part - some consideration needs to be given the OP’s status also. Some people might not have any idea what a Sniper pod is (as an example). All I am saying here is we cannot just assume people are too lazy, and want to be spoon-fed. Some people might need a little more help than others, that’s all. For sure, some will be too lazy and that’s it, but they will soon be sussed and treated appropriately - this I have no issue with.

Gentlemen, let’s calm down here
Yes, the first step when you encounter a problem should be to look around in the manuals. And yes, the doc and the sheer amount of stuff to handle can be intimidating.
So let’s be tolerant of each other - both the expert when addressing a new guy (like RD was), and the new guy when the expert tells him to look in the doc

These manuals that have been included in the docs folder are my bibles. I read and re-read them. If I find my self with an issue that I can’t seem to understand, then I will ask around within my network of friends here on the forum. If that is not possible to get my issues sorted out, then I use the knowhow in this forum. No one should be afraid to ask.
From my position as a commander of a virtual wing, this is also something that I teach my pilots, read the manuals, if you have any questions during the reading, then ask. But reading these masterpieces is a must for every sim pilot that wants to fly BMS. Imagine if this sim with all the docs were not free and one had to purchase this.
So in respect of the many people that have spent so much time to provide us all with a free to use world class sim and not to get ones head into them, well?
Just my 2 cents
Greetings

A quick search of the word, laser, in the PDF manuals works pretty good. I find that for most topics that I am curious about with this sim. These new docs are very well put together.
I have found over the years that the more I know, the more i have to read through things that i already know to find those little things that i don’t. Be patient.

Ok, this thread has served its initial purpose.
May I suggest some people revisit the rules before they post anything else they might regret.
