Balkans Theater of Operation for BMS 4.33 U5
-
Hello there my friend.
Well please DO NOT trust Google, Wikipedia and in general the Internet for a such important matters like are anything that concerns the airports and their stuff!
My suggestions to my friend “cougar56th” that we are in a very close cooperation are from REAL data (AIS - AIP - AD - AD 1.3)!
So yes, now Ljubljana airport (LJLJ) has the name “Brnik” and the airport at Bari (LIBD) has now the name “Palese”. **That is clear and official as per today, no room here for arguments ;).
Also keep in mind that I already started the creation of the new NavAids and their list for Balkans theater and with them, ALL the airports names will be corrected/updated.
In the next version of Balkans you will enjoy them.
Nikos.No problem at all friend.
If You wanna recreate situation from '99. Then I agree 100% , that is why I’ve asked , ‘Is it by design?’
It was kinda strange that one time was named one thing , and then another, so I’ve thought it was mistake, rather then update.
So far LJubljana was original name even from 4.0spX and AF. But Brnik is just fine with meYou’ve got some errors in all 3 saveX.cam files primary on AD units, airdefencing, reserving objectives 200nm far , probably , when objectives were renumbered camp-id , so now those units are
trying to move over water even from Italy to Serbia.
But, maybe, havent tried yet, when starting campaign and unit realizes that path is invalid , will revert to stay in place… just FYI.And … , Ancona Port has magically moved to southWEST Sicily (damn teleport from Spaceballs ), and Ancona AD unit now wants there too… so much about defending town
None of this quirks are biggie, so, again, THANKS for hard work to everybody, including that unknown 9th Italian artist which work turned this playground into eyecandy.
Cheers

Figured out what’s with movies…
(I do have KMEGA codec pack installed, but using only LAV/64 codecs, ffdshow is disabled… so…)
Aparently my (only?) machine or even BMS, doesn’t like XVID codec anymore, KTO’s (BMS) movies are H264 and play just fine… was something gone wrong with new exe or else, I can’t say…
When I’ve copied KTO’s movie to Balkans moviedir , and renamed to BP.avi , it played OK.Complete fix would be easy , just reencode movies to H264 with ffmpeg or whatever … maybe it’s time to quit xvid …
edit: this has worked for me
ffmpeg -i usorg.avi -c:a copy -c:v libx264 us.avi

Whitefang, you seem to know a lot about audio media. Could my problem be related to a codec? Is there something I should try to see if the radio calls will play correctly in the 3d world?
-
Cannot open the .zip file to install. Says windows says the file is invalid. Tried downloading on my Mac also, and it won’t show the compressed files.
-
I had to re upload it….you might have been downloading it while I was uploading it. Try to download it again and see if it works. It is finished uploading again.

It is hard to say at glance, could be that you use some weird codec/directshow combination, but let’s not complicate things in advance.
Now what I want you to try is go into Balkans sound directory , usually \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Sounds\ , and try to play some sound from there , if they work just on doubleclick that’s ok, one thing solved.Next, try to obtain some vorbis/.ogg sound file from wherever (internet) , save to your computer, and do same try doubleclick, it should play with your player.
It is important that you try exactly that extension (.ogg) , because that type of codec is used for falcon comms,…edit: actually , does music plays in main screen ? , can you try to open \Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Music\ … ui1.ogg - ui6.ogg from win explorer , they are in .ogg (vorbis)
If that passed … then we’ll see.
You can pm me with results so we move this from general balkans report thread.Regards

**Note: You only need this Update if you downloaded the main install named Balkans_4.33.1c.zip. If you have the main install named Balkans_4.33.1c1.zip…
I´m a little confused, but where can i get the Balkans_4.33.1c1.zip ? .
The link in the first Post refers still to the Balkans_4.33.1c.zip -
How to I select the Balkan Theater. I installed the 4.33 Balkan Campaign and the updater. I go into the Falcon BMS Config page, then into Campaigns and I don’t see any campaigns - not even the Korean one. Am I suppose to look somewhere else?
Thanks!

Did you install the correct Balkans_4.33.1c plus the appropriate Updater? If so, did you select The Balkans in your THEATER list (one of the main UI page menu items)?

You need to go to Theaters and switch to the Balkans
-
there is no Balkans theatre in the ui list
-
there is no Balkans theatre in the ui list
Did you run the installer? It should be been automatically pointed to your bms folder. You didn’t install the update and not the main did you?
-
maybe I will check

Hi sub101,
You might need to edit the theatre.lst file to have the theatre show up.
This is how you do it:- Go to your BMS directory, specifically this folder:
[YOUR DRIVE]:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Terrdata\theaterdefinition - Open the “theater.lst” file with a text editor like notepad.
- Add this line:
“Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Balkans.tdf”
after the last line that there is. - Save and reboot, fire up BMS and go to the theater menu option and it should be showing.
Mine looks like this:
#LIST OF ALL KNOWN THEATERS
Add-On Israel\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Israel.tdf
Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Korea KTO.tdf
Add-On Korea TvT\Terrdata\theaterdefinition-v3.61\Korea_TvT_v3.61.tdf
Add-On Korea Strong DPRK\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Korea Strong DPRK.tdf
Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Balkans.tdf
Add-On Battle For Balkans\stand-alone\theater.tdf
Add-On REDFLAG\Terrdata\theaterdefinition\Standalone.tdfOn a sidenote, make sure your data folder is neatly organised:
//Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans
in which you will see ‘art’, ‘campaign’ and so on: the subfolders. Make sure you don’t have it as:
//Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Add-On Balkans_subfolder_Good luck!
- Go to your BMS directory, specifically this folder:
-
Plus there’s always the old Falcon theatre change dance:
After installing new theatre:
1. Switch to new theatre
2. Exit BMS
3. Open new theatre and go test fly it.Have to do this every time you switch between theatres, new or originals. Else there are many odd things that happen.

I am wondering whether I am having the same issue. I installed the following:
Balkans 4.33.1c for BMS 4.33 Update 1
Then put Update 1 for Balkans 4.33.1c for BMS 4.33 Update 1 in the Falcon BMS folder and ran it there. It asked me if I wanted to write over files and I said yes.
I see no theater folder listed in the config page. BTW - this is the first theater that I installed. I will try to edit the file list tonight.
-
You shouldn’t have too. As long as you install the main to the bms root folder that should be all you have to do. You shouldn’t need to add to the theater.lst file. The installer does it automatically
