Balkans Theater of Operation for BMS 4.33 U5
-
Hi Cougar,
Thanks! I uninstalled and reinstalled it again. It seems to be stable now. I look forward to flying this theater!. Thanks for all the hard work. It’s amazing that I purchased F4 in 1998. I had an F-22 HOTAS and a Suncom back then. I took a break to have a family and recently built a new computer to get back into to flying sims. It’s amazing that F4 is still around. It’s even more amazing that it doesn’t seem like an old sim. I don’t think any software developer could have come out with something better if they started from scratch.
-
I uninstalled the Balkans Theater. I put the installer in the BMS folder and ran it from there. Then installed it in the BMS root directory. I also put the updater in the BMS rout directory and ran it from there.as
It appeared in the Theater list. I selected it and then it crashed. I also installed the Israeli Theater and it is loads fine.
Any ideas?
I still have the same problem. I think I’ll delete the entire directory of Balkans, and reinstall it again, today.

Not sure if already noted in this thread, and probably known issues, but Gioia del Colle has the TACAN listed as 124X in the NAVAID and 125X in the airbase chart, and different VHF for tower, location, etc… Just FYI in case not known.

http://firstfighterwing.com/Airbases/DPRKAirbases/gio2.pngDear friend,
Your mention is very good. Let me help and clarify the area.
So the current NavAids have outdated data and lot of conflicts/non functionality. So for now you have at least all the charts of the “Balkans MAIP.pdf” to have correct data. That means that if you want to use any of the charts of the “Balkans MAIP.pdf” do that without a fear. For any other airports except of the charts, turn to the “1108_BalkanNav.pdf”.
Also please download and use this file here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?27735-Balkans-Stations_ils-dat-file-got-messed-up
It has Vicenza VOR/DME active and functional, so you will be able to execute the VIC 6A and VIC 6B SIDs from Aviano airbase.
Now I’m in the process of creating the new NavAids and their list with currect real data as also without any conflicts/non functionality. Check here to see my progress (posts 136 & 139): https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?12435-Balkans-Theatre-IAP-charts&p=388911&viewfull=1#post388911
I estimate that around 2 weeks from now they will be ready and you gonna have them ;).

My bullseye display does not show distance to bullseye set location. That is no figure within the small green circle. Only shows cursor position figures and aircraft location figure.
This is peculiar to my Balkan theater.
Is this know issue or I need to turn it on somewhere. Did not have to do anything on in Korea theatre.Help out guys, thanks

On the HUD or in the MFD? can you send a picture?

Possibly because you’re beyond 100 miles from B/E?

It is on the 2 MFD. By default there is a green circle symbology with tick on around it and has a figures indicating distance from from bullseye position, that is what is missing. Cursor position relative to bullseye has both radial position and distance figures but the green circle has no figure within.
Picture coming right up.
I will check with the 100miles from bullseye suggestion by flying close to bullseye position, perhaps that explains it.
Will keep y’all posted. -
Good catch
White_fang you are absolutely correct. Flew closer to the bullseye position to get within 100 miles from bullseye and distance figure appeared.
Thanks once again -

Thanks once againYou should really thanks to Mr. Creeper there. I’ve just seconded him.(although I thought that guy was a myth, haven’t seen him from jfa18 days on simhq
)
Anyways, you’re welcome.Regards,

Very minor nitpick, but the runways at Sigonella show 10/28, but when you ask tower they talk about 09/27
Also, when runway 27/28 is in use, the spawn spots for the F-16s start getting pretty close to each other once you start reaching the main platform (the first 10 or so Vipers are fine but numbers 11 through 16 start getting put on a big platform and they start spawning pretty close together)
-
Ok I’ll take a look at it. As for the runway numbers….10/28 are not in the sound files that is why I used 9/27. They are as close as I could get. 9 doesn’t have Left and Right runway sound files either.
-
We don’t need L & R for Sigonella airbase.
Under normal situation the RWY in use is the 10R/28L.
10L/28R is the main TWY and used as RWY in specific situations ;).

10/28 are not in the sound files that is why I used 9/27.
Didn’t know that, I assumed (and you know how assumptions end up
) that the sim would have files for any possible runway
-
Anyone else having a problem at the last 10% or so download? It just cuts early and I end up with a corupted zip file
-
What am I doing wrong here, I’m sure its my settings or something but everytime I fly Balkans, I hard crash to desktop halfway thru my mission for no apparent reason.
gotta be something simple… Works great in korea campaign.

I want to uninstall the older version before installing this one, but unfortunately there is no uninstaller exe in the specified folder.
