Trying to learn the maverick
-
Cheers for that I will have a look.
Are there any downloadable TE’s at all or dont they exist? -
Hey I’m new, Training mission sucks because of bad weather
Try to one without weather
Hey It’s still too hard, WTF I’m fired at
Do one on your own
How the heck should I know how
By reading the manual
How pitiful!!!
Why couldn’t they just have training missions that you can just concentrate on setting up and using the weapons instead of these battle scenarios.
It’s a combat sim, it’s not Xplane for sure
If you take the time to read the training manual which by the way go along the training misison:
It says to address your issue 1: (weather)This mission is very challenging. When you are first learning to employ Mavericks you may wish to use the next mission to begin with, as it is the same mission but with clear skies and no wind.
And your issue 2: (being fired upon in a combat sim scenario)
Invulnerability might be a very useful learning tool. Don’t feel bad about enabling it for training purposes. It will lower your realism rating but that is really not a problem. You didn’t come here to get medals… yet.
So before pissing on anyone’s else work, work they provided for free on one own’s free time, for your own enjoyment!! Please use the tools as they were planned and you will realized that the idiot who made the training mission actually took all that into account and made his best to keep both newbees and seasonned pilots challenged with the training missions.
Pissing on one’s work while not having checked it toroughly is very rude.
That’s from the idiot who made the training missionOh, and welcome to BMS

OMG RD!! Are you actually suggesting that people RTFTM (read the f–-ing training manual)??
-
Mrmaverick,
I had the same problem you were having, so I decided to edit the TE. I changed the weather and added more Mavs to the load out.
I then concentrated on learning the TGP hands off/boresight procedure, whether it was with the ship or with the oil fields and naval port on the shore.
I then started having fun with the ship (I know it is a friendly!! :wfish:) and the fuel tanks on the port without continuing on the mission.
This way I was able to concentrate on the boresighting procedures without worrying about getting blown out the sky.
I must tell you, I still need more practice!!

RTFM = Read The Friendly Manual

I do have general advice that’s not in the manual. The Maverick has a few layers of helper systems which culminates in automatic TGP handoff. In order to fully appreciate and understand the whole stack of layers I suggest learning the modes in the order: bore, vis, pre, and finally TGP ABC.
Once you deliver 100 Mavericks in bore, vis seems like a Godsend. After 100 more Mavericks in vis, pre gives your eyes a rest. After 100 Mavericks in pre, you’ll thank heaven for automatic TGP handoff. When you’ve lost all your marbles, you’re a pro.

Hmm I don’t see any piss around, just a request.
Use the same mission and set invanrubility. So even if they shoot u u will be good to go and also account enemy response time at the same time.sent from my mi5 using Tapatalk

I don’t think it’s a good idea to create TEs that also appeal to experienced pilots. An experienced pilot can create a custom TE if that is required. Most people using TEs simply want to understand how these things work, and added complexity will only frustrate.

Kinda agree. I created a simple TE using Kotar to play with weapons. After using that to learn weapon systems, the TE’s were a lot easier.
I really liked the TE’s though, they are quite good imo and combine skills, that’s a good thing.
In a campaign, you have to use everything at your disposal. -
4.33 training TE are graduation tests. 4.32 training TE are incremental technical lessons. The change must be with the user to expect not to have satisfaction the 1st or 10th time trying and maybe to have to pause to read the manual. That’s normal and OK. Probably the best is a mixture of the two methods with easiest possible building blocks and end of block all up tests. Then you design an entire 500h aviation training program using only PDF and TEs and then you have to pay Red Dog and a team of 9 more a $100k/yr salary each because that’s what quality training is worth.

Here’s a mission I use for maverick practice from ramp, you can push time if you don’t want to ramp. Also useful for air to air refuelling. Loadout has 4 maverick types, and uses the Kotar range.
Just unpack with 7z, and put the files into your ……BMS\Data\Campaign\Save folder.

I tried to pay, modestly, with a French currency…

How can I open that 7z file ?

Where is the KOTAR range located anyway? (Sorry if that’s a dumb question)
I’ve been flying the AGM-65 training missions the last few days and it was extremely frustrating. Until I discovered why … despite BMS 4.33.2 setup correctly reflecting my HOTAS button presses, in 3D the sim wouldn’t register them correctly. So DMS down wouldn’t properly shift SOI and TMS UP-Release wouldn’t switch from IR Area Track to Point Track.
Once I figured that one out, I got the Mavs correctly boresighted on the frigate but then flying NOE, it just shows you how much you need to practice to get the switchology down while being < 500 feet off the deck with a bunch of North Koreans throwing everything and the kitchen sink at you. I eventually got a Mav off, it missed and I got hit by a MANPAD but decided to stick it out and nurse my crippled yet back south. Good lesson all and in all Just keep doing it again and again until it clicks, at least that’s the only brute force method that seems to work for me and my thick skull.

Just South of the City of Hwangji.
In the 2D map, you need to display Installations>Other to see it’s icon.
It’s icon is similar to a City icon, blue, slightly smaller with an “X” on it.
